# The Pokémon Market Has Finally Broken...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9fOUfbBExI

[00:00] The latest Pokémon card drops have pulled in a bit of fear with collectors.
[00:04] And a lot of people right now are wondering how low can some Pokémon cards go?
[00:08] Well, that's why in this video I'll be looking over all of that and I do find it very fascinating right now since we have two sides.
[00:15] When Pokémon cards dropped in 2024 and 2025, there was always like a 90 to 10 split.
[00:20] And what I mean by that is 90% of the community were thrilled that prices dropped.
[00:24] And then you had 10% that were a little bit down about it because some of their collection was now coming down in price.
[00:30] Though I've noticed this year especially with this summer drop that the mentality has shifted a lot.
[00:36] In fact, there's a lot less people celebrating that prices are dropping.
[00:41] And I actually think that's because there are so many people super heavy into Pokémon right now.
[00:45] And I can definitely see that change of perception.
[00:49] Though I have to be real, if you were buying and you entered the hobby when ascended heroes dropped, you've been buying at all-time highs.
[00:55] I know a lot of people might be disappointed seeing cards drop in price, but also if you came in this year and
[01:00] You've spent at those absurd high prices, you just got to take this as a learning lesson.
[01:05] There's nothing you can do about it.
[01:07] Don't beat yourself up if you see your collection dropping, but also you've got to be real with yourself.
[01:11] Like if you're watching the content and you're watching people that really understand what's happening in collectibles, everyone would have told you and pretty much every creator that's making content about this would have told you that they're very over inflated at the moment.
[01:24] If you did buy an ascended heroes Pikachu in PSA 10 or if you bought a mega Gengar in PSA 10, it is a bit of a silly decision on your part, but it is a learning lesson as well.
[01:34] There's no reason to be paying prices like that for brand new cards and of course like at this stage we can see them dropping so heavily in price.
[01:41] All right, let's get into it.
[01:43] The Pikachu ascended heroes right now.
[01:45] I'm going to just take it right there.
[01:47] All-time high of 1,380 USD.
[01:53] That is the all-time high for the raw copy right now selling for 1,085 dollars.
[01:57] That is decent.
[01:59] That is three hundred dollars off the high point.
[01:00] That is a
[02:01] Lot of money.
[02:03] Pretty much, if you just waited to buy that card right now, you could also add the mega Greninja special illustration rate to your collection as well.
[02:08] Two for the price of one essentially just by waiting.
[02:11] How long has that been?
[02:13] Just by waiting a little bit over a month.
[02:15] Insane, okay?
[02:15] The PSA 10 card of this has gone through banana drops.
[02:17] Check this out.
[02:20] In May, the PSA 10 selling for four thousand five hundred dollars.
[02:26] Extended heroes in May was like what?
[02:29] Five months old?
[02:29] Come on.
[02:29] Like seriously, who's doing that?
[02:31] Banana prices.
[02:33] I don't even know who the market is buying those.
[02:35] But check this out.
[02:35] What a drop.
[02:37] Currently selling for two thousand five hundred dollars.
[02:39] That is a crash.
[02:42] There you go.
[02:42] We do have you can very easily use the term crash for the PSA 10 card of this.
[02:49] That is not any exaggeration.
[02:51] I'm not being over the top with that.
[02:53] Right now, massive drop, man.
[02:56] So, there has been a big drop in that Pikachu.
[02:58] Bit of a warning sign I think as well for PSA 10 cards because there might be also a shift as well with
[03:02] Collectors being a bit over PSA.
[03:04] Just yeah, I don't know, man.
[03:05] I don't know who who like all these people that are paying that.
[03:10] It is disappointing to see people fork out that kind of money.
[03:12] It kind of annoys me to be honest cuz it's like, why are you doing that?
[03:15] Like like you don't have anything to prove spending that much money on those cards.
[03:17] Like they're not worth that much.
[03:19] So, why are you spending that?
[03:22] That Pikachu is brand new to me.
[03:24] Like Also, guys, I know you're in the last video I spoke about my back.
[03:26] The it's so painful.
[03:29] I have like a injured my back.
[03:31] I was at the gym and literally the next day I couldn't get out of bed.
[03:36] It is so like the back pain and I know so many people have gone through it.
[03:40] I never really understood it until I've experienced it and it's one of those things you just wouldn't wish on anyone.
[03:43] Like wow, man.
[03:45] It is really just I don't know.
[03:48] It's changed a bit of my perception on on life cuz it's like, oh, how nice is life without constant pain?
[03:52] And there's only a few kind of areas that I can sit that I'm not in pain.
[03:57] Right now, I'm all right.
[03:58] Got my standing desk, which I'm going to be editing and stuff more standing up.
[04:00] And yeah, man, like real.
[04:02] Talk, like look after your body.
[04:04] Like I know I'm just I talk about Pokémon cards, but I just want to just give a shout-out to or like not even a shout-out.
[04:09] I want to just give some advice.
[04:11] Please look after your body.
[04:12] Make sure if you're slouching or right now if if you're watching this slouch, look after your posture cuz yeah, it super painful, man.
[04:18] I don't want anyone going through it like cuz yeah, it's actually uh taking a big impact on just my my overall health.
[04:23] But we're going to get better.
[04:27] Another PSA 10 card that has dropped a lot is the Mega Greninja the special art rare, the Japanese version.
[04:31] Pretty much here all-time high of uh you can see there it was selling for $1,100.
[04:35] Then it sold for $980.
[04:37] Though the Japanese special art rare right now is selling for $378 in PSA 10.
[04:44] Honestly, that's pretty good, man.
[04:47] That's like for a PSA 10 card top chase card, they're the prices that I kind of be like, "Okay, not bad."
[04:52] Like I would actually consider if I wanted it in my collection, that's the price that I'm like if I really wanted a card, I'm okay paying.
[05:00] I will never touch a PSA 10 card at $4,000 like what I showed you before.
[05:03] Another card that has dropped in price is the Mega Dragonite special art rare from Mega Dream EX.
[05:06] $652 for the PSA 10.
[05:09] Right now, there you go, selling for $376.
[05:12] Again, that is a more attainable price point.
[05:15] Like everyone's situation is different, but I think if you did want a PSA 10, a lot of people could be like, "Okay, something costs $380, I can set a goal for it.
[05:23] It's somewhat achievable."
[05:25] Anything past $1,000, $2,000, let alone $4,000, forget about it, man.
[05:32] Who is going to bother spending that kind of money on a Pokémon card, especially brand new Pokémon card?
[05:37] You got to be careful in this hobby when they go to that prices.
[05:40] But yeah, the Japanese market is really the PSA 10 cards are coming down in price right now, which is fantastic as well because Japanese cards look incredible.
[05:48] I do have a lot of videos on my channel speaking about the difference of Japanese and English cards.
[05:53] You can check those out as well.
[05:54] Though, it is good to see some drops happening in the Japanese market as well cuz they've been climbing up a lot recently, too.
[06:01] Now, while speaking about Japanese Pokémon cards, I do want to talk about Buyee who
[06:04] have kindly sponsored today's video.
[06:06] So, if you've ever tried to buy Japanese products online, it's likely that you've seen that some sellers don't offer international shipping.
[06:12] Well, that's actually where Buyee comes in.
[06:14] Buyee is a Japanese proxy shopping service that completely opens you up to the Japanese marketplace.
[06:19] Using Buyee is really simple.
[06:21] So, for example, you can search for what you're looking for such as Pokémon cards and it will show you what's available.
[06:26] Now, what's so cool is that when you make a purchase, all the items actually get sent to Buyee's warehouse in Japan and then Buyee prepares your items for international shipping.
[06:33] Now, what's so awesome is that Buyee actually ships to multiple countries and regions including North America, Oceania, and Europe.
[06:38] Now, with how popular Japanese Pokémon cards have become, Buyee becomes a great resource to have.
[06:45] And what's so great is that if you are a first-time user, you can actually get a 10% discount off your first order.
[06:50] All the details for Buyee are in the video's description.
[06:51] A massive thanks to Buyee for supporting the channel.
[06:54] Now, let's get back to the video.
[06:56] Now, moving on to a card that I absolutely adore, it is the Meowth special illustration rare from Perfect Order.
[07:01] But again, this one has also dropped.
[07:03] I've mentioned it in a previous video, but I actually bought this card
[07:05] Right here for around 200 USD.
[07:08] I paid all-time high prices.
[07:10] Your boy is a banana.
[07:12] Can you believe it?
[07:12] But I really wanted the card and cuz I'm like, "Oh, no, this card's going to spike.
[07:15] This card's going to be some bubble Mew kind of vibe, isn't it?
[07:19] It's just going to go up in price."
[07:20] But there you go, we can see the card right now selling for 134.
[07:23] It definitely stings cuz I could have got it for a fair bit cheaper, pretty much $70 cheaper.
[07:28] But then again, I really wanted it in my collection.
[07:30] I actually rarely buy cards when they release.
[07:33] This was one of my ones that I'm like, "Oh, I just really want it.
[07:34] I'm going to do it."
[07:36] But again, $70 does not hurt like something like 500 or if you bought the Pikachu or the Gengar and you saw the price drops of those.
[07:42] Look at the Mega Gengar sell for 4.2k, right now selling for 2,500.
[07:47] Insane prices.
[07:47] Even 2.5k to me is an absurd price for this card.
[07:52] Yes, the pull rates are hard, but again, man, like come on.
[07:54] What are we even doing when we're spending money like that on cards, especially new ones?
[07:57] I get vintage, that makes total sense.
[07:59] Older cards, maybe 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 years old, sure.
[08:01] XY era.
[08:04] For brand new cards, I don't even know how why these prices
[08:06] Are going like that.
[08:08] Now, another PSA 10 card that has dropped is the Team Rocket's Mewtwo from Destined Rivals.
[08:11] Also selling for pretty much 1,500 US.
[08:14] Right now we can see selling for 1,250.
[08:17] Definitely a nice drop.
[08:19] The whole thing with PSA 10 cards right now, they are going through it.
[08:22] They've paused their submissions for value tier.
[08:24] We all know that.
[08:26] PSA 10 cards though, even a lot of those cards that are in those value tier brackets, they're dropping in price.
[08:31] So, it's just insane.
[08:33] There might be a bit of a shift happening as well.
[08:34] I don't know.
[08:36] 1,250 right now for this card.
[08:38] I still think that there is room to drop.
[08:41] This summer uh crash or summer I don't want to use the word crash for the summer.
[08:44] This summer drop that is happening, be just uh stay alert is what I would say.
[08:49] And a good thing you can do as well, if there's a card that you really really want in your collection, like let's say if you wanted this uh Team Rocket's Mewtwo, okay?
[08:56] Maybe what's really good is sit down and think of a price that you are comfortable paying for a card that you want, or if it's a card for your master set, and just monitor the market to see if it does.
[09:06] Eventually go to that price, and then you can be comfortable cuz you're paying what is kind of aligned with your goal.
[09:11] But then again, see, I really wanted this Team Rocket's Mewtwo in my collection, but at the same time, I'm not comfortable paying for the PSA 10 that price point anyway, so I wouldn't bother even touching it.
[09:19] Now, also, if you are a first-timer on the channel and you do love the content, my name's Phil and I create detailed videos about the Pokémon market.
[09:27] Honestly, by subscribing, you'll always have the info all in the one place.
[09:30] I'd love to have you here.
[09:32] Also selling for 502, and right now selling for 410.
[09:35] A nice $100 off the pretty much the high price point, which is fantastic to see because yeah, a lot of Ascended Heroes cards right now are dropping and like not no surprises there.
[09:42] Real talk.
[09:44] Over inflated as though the PSA 10 version of this has again, we can use the word crash for that.
[09:50] Here you go on the PSA 10, pretty much an all-time high, which is only in March of this year for $1,550.
[09:56] Right there, check that out.
[09:58] It's selling for 860.
[10:00] When when when they drop that much, there you go.
[10:02] That is a clear example of another PSA 10 card that has crashed.
[10:06] But again, you want to be careful using that word because
[10:08] There's only certain cards that have actually experienced that, like the Mega Gengar Pikachu special illustration rare.
[10:13] And along with this one, they do deserve the term crash, definitely.
[10:17] But a lot of cards are just going through a bit of a correction right now.
[10:20] But it's happening quick as well.
[10:22] Like look at that.
[10:23] That's only been like a month and a half and it's just dropped like that.
[10:25] I mean, you can't even catch it.
[10:26] When they start dropping, it is quick.
[10:28] Though, check out the Ascended Heroes Elite Trainer Box.
[10:30] A lot of people just thought this was going to continue to climb up.
[10:33] Though, there we go.
[10:35] Was selling for 147.
[10:38] Had an all-time high in June for 190 US.
[10:42] Selling right now for 170.
[10:45] Good to see Ascended Heroes Elite Trainer Boxes dropping in price.
[10:47] They definitely do have more room to drop because again, it's a 5-month-old set.
[10:49] How expensive could that get?
[10:51] It's pretty insane seeing that.
[10:52] But then again, in this hobby right now, you just need to have some smarts about you.
[10:57] If a lot of things have been over inflated for a long time, it is an interesting thing to see the prices dropping, but also monitor as well.
[11:04] A lot of people are going to be making content about this whole scenario that cards are dropping.
[11:08] This was always expected for.
[11:10] The summer period.
[11:12] Though, we have the 30th celebration as well.
[11:14] If you are on that side that you're a bit worried to see a lot of your collection dropping in price, this is a good lesson now for everyone.
[11:20] Buy what you want in your collection because if you buy what you want, a lot of these prices won't really annoy you that much.
[11:27] Like I was speaking about the Meowth, sure it's dropped a little bit, but I actually always wanted it in my collection.
[11:32] So, it doesn't hurt that much.
[11:34] Whereas, if I bought a card thinking, "Hey, it's going to spike in price."
[11:37] Like those people that probably bought the Pikachu at 4,500, they're all kicking themselves right now.
[11:41] They're all so upset with that purchase.
[11:43] Again, that's why just be careful when you're spending right now, and make sure it aligns with your collecting goals, with your whatever goals that you have.
[11:49] That is the most important thing right now.
[11:50] I think it's just super clear right now what we're dealing with, but there is a question about 2027, and I do think 2027 will be a very strange year for Pokémon cards, and I have my own predictions about that.
[12:03] In this video right here, as you can see on this end screen, I speak about my five predictions for Pokémon cards in 2027.
[12:09] I love the fact that you stayed to the end of the video.
[12:11] Video right there has some awesome predictions.
[12:13] You're really going to enjoy that one.
[12:13] I'll see you there.
