[00:02] And on this location is the Launchpad Pro.

[00:04] Everything on this guide is in chapters.

[00:20] You have links at the description for PayPal, YouTube Thanks, and Patreon.

[00:24] All right, so let's just begin.

[00:26] This device is divided in two big parts: the standalone sequencer, the one that you have right there right now where you're playing, and then the rest of the whole device.

[00:35] Now on this video, I will cover everything that you can see right here, but not the standalone sequencer.

[00:42] But I've recorded a dedicated video just deep diving into the sequencer and all the functions and everything that you can do with just the sequencer.

[00:52] Check the links of the description or the cards at the top.

[00:56] And if it's not there, it's because it was not yet released.

[00:58] Okay, so in order to...

[01:01] To understand how this works, we need to go in order.

[01:03] If you go to the manual, the manual is good, but it's just a little bit confusing because it's divided in different parts and they're not in order.

[01:11] So I guess in my opinion, the best way to learn this one is to learn how the notes work, then to learn how the chords work, then how to control all the different tracks, and then how to record and play clips.

[01:24] And then of course, then we will talk about the custom modes in a different video.

[01:29] I will show you how the sequencer and the projects [work].

[01:30] Okay, so if you are on a project, in this case I'm using Ableton, if you go to the notes mode, this is how you can of course play whatever track you have selected.

[01:42] At the bottom you have the buttons to select the tracks.

[01:44] If you play it, you're going to be getting the drum rack if you're using one.

[01:48] If you are using something else that it's not a drum rack, you will get a different layout.

[01:54] Now in order to play, you need to record arm the track.

[01:57] Right here at the bottom you have the buttons to select the different tracks, and you have eight.

[02:00] So if I select...

[02:02] This one, I'm standing on the first track, which is the drum track.

[02:06] But if I go to the next one, I get a different layout.

[02:08] This is an instrument; this is the third track, the fourth, and so on and so on and so on.

[02:12] But the fact that you go to a track and you select the track, it doesn't mean that you are, uh, you have the record arm on that track.

[02:22] So if you go here, you can record arm whatever track, and whatever it is that you play right here is what, you know, you will be playing.

[02:29] In this case, I'm gonna stay on the first one because I have the drum track right here, and this is the drum layout that you get.

[02:35] Now, right here, if you play the empty clips, you can see right there on the screen, on the DAW, that I am actually playing some slots of the drum rack.

[02:48] If I play right here, I can see them as well.

[02:50] And right here with the arrows, you can just go up or you can go down on whatever you have on your drum rack.

[02:56] Now, what happens if you work with instruments, because this layout is just pretty simple, right?

[03:02] It's just a 16-pad type of drum.

[03:05] Layout, so if I record arm and I go to the next track and then I go to the next one, when I play it, I get a different layout.

[03:13] This is the nodes layout, so right now the camera is a little bit too bright.

[03:17] Uh, if I go to settings, it gives me the lead configuration.

[03:19] It's all the way at the bottom, so on the screen right now it's super bright, but in real life this is actually really nice, but it can be a lot brighter.

[03:30] I'm going to show you all the options that you get on the settings in a couple minutes.

[03:34] So when you are on an instrument track, you will be getting by default this layout, which makes sense.

[03:40] You just play one note, you will play one note and then the next one, the next one, and the next one, and so on and on and on.

[03:48] Uh, the challenging part, the most challenging part is how to configure all this.

[03:53] So you need to go to shift, and once you hold it, you need to go to note.

[03:57] And right here it will give you the configuration of what scale you want to use, what's the root, and the layout.

[04:02] You have it, you know, right here at the top.

[04:04] So first I'm going to show you how this works at the top.

[04:07] You need to have the first one selected.

[04:09] And this one needs to be green.

[04:11] I'm going to tell you how they work in a minute.

[04:13] Now this rows, the ones that you have right here, these ones are the scales.

[04:18] You have the minor, the just minor, the major, Dorian, then the blues, the pentatonic, and you have a lot of different scales.

[04:24] I'm going to put them right now on the screen so you can take note or maybe take a screenshot, but you also have it on the manual.

[04:32] Whatever scales you select right here, notice the layout of this is just changing.

[04:37] And it's because, of course, you're changing the scale and you use different notes.

[04:42] So in this case, I'm going to stay on the minor.

[04:44] So when you select the scale you want to know, you know, the root, you want to set up the root.

[04:51] So the purple one is going to be the root.

[04:53] The ones that are lighted, like the blue, are going to be the notes that are part of the actual scale, right?

[05:02] And the ones that are grayed out are not part of the scale.

[05:04] If I go to a major, and see, major is going to be all the white keys.

[05:09] The black keys are going to be off.

[05:11] I'm going to go back to the minor.

[05:13] I'm going to be using C as a root so when I go back and I go to this layout, it's going to be C and all the different notes we get within that scale.

[05:25] If I want to use something different, well I go back right here.

[05:27] Maybe I still want to use minor, but then I'm going to be using F minor.

[05:31] And I go back and now it's going to be F minor, the F minor scale.

[05:37] If I go back, this one is going to be the pentatonic.

[05:40] So when you go to pentatonic, you have less notes, right?

[05:45] We have only five.

[05:47] So when I go back to note, you can see that you have a different layout.

[05:51] It's only five, and then you will continue to the next row.

[05:56] And again, at the end of the day, this is completely up to you, depending on which scale you want to use and what's the root that you want to use.

[06:03] And again, this is just pretty simple to understand.

[06:05] The most confusing part is going to be the options that you have.

[06:10] Get right there at the top right here.

[06:12] I'm going to stay on C and I'm going to stay on minor, right?

[06:16] Green means that you are in scale mode.

[06:19] It means that if I go to note, of course we are C, and then minor.

[06:24] When I go back to notes, we see this scale, right?

[06:28] It's a root and all the different notes we know.

[06:30] This, if I do shift and go back and I press it, now it turns red.

[06:35] This means chromatic mode.

[06:38] The difference is the layout is going to change.

[06:40] And this means that now the notes that are not part of whatever scale that you selected are going to be available to play.

[06:48] So you still, you know, you highlight the ones that you have on your scale.

[06:51] But I can play C and I can play this one that it's not part of the scale I selected.

[06:56] That's why it's called chromatic mode.

[06:59] You can play them all, but you know the ones that are on the scale are still highlighted if you wanted to.

[07:04] But again, all of this is just up to you if you don't want to see the notes that are out.

[07:12] Of the scale, you just go to the green mode.

[07:14] And if you want the notes that are outside of the scale that you selected, you go to the red mode.

[07:20] I'm going to stay on the green mode for now, and I want to show you this, the options that you have right here.

[07:26] And these are just the most confusing options; they're just very, very simple.

[07:31] This is called the overlaps.

[07:33] Now the first one, it's called sequential, and it's what we get by default.

[07:37] This is going to be sequential; it's going to be your note and then, you know, the next tone, the next one, and so on and so on.

[07:43] And so on and so on, all right, so that's what it means, that's sequential.

[07:48] I'm going to do shift and just go back.

[07:50] The second option is going to be two fingers.

[07:52] I'm going to go there and go back, and as you can see, the layout changes completely.

[07:57] So why is it called two fingers?

[07:59] Because again, if I go back, this is two fingers, three fingers, four, and then five.

[08:04] Why are we talking about fingers?

[08:07] Well, it depends how you play it.

[08:13] Go to the sequential and you want to play a chord.

[08:15] Well, you're going to need to, you know, stretch your fingers a lot in order to just play whatever.

[08:22] In this case, if I go to two fingers, it means that you have your root here.

[08:25] Maybe it's just way too low.

[08:27] I'm going to go up in pitch, and this is how you can go up in pitch and how you can go down in pitch.

[08:34] Going to go up, I'm going to play one note.

[08:36] This is one finger, two fingers.

[08:39] And now if I play the third finger, it will not play it; it will go up to the next row.

[08:43] So I'm going to play it, and that is that; it's green right there.

[08:48] So yeah, it means that one finger, two fingers, and the next finger, it goes up at the top.

[08:53] So I could play a whole scale doing just using just two fingers: 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2.

[09:00] And so on and so on and so on.

[09:02] This is why it's called two fingers.

[09:04] Now if I go back, I go to three, three, three fingers.

[09:06] And if you think about this, this is just the same deal.

[09:08] Well, it's just 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2.

[09:14] 3 and so on and so on.

[09:17] If I go to four now, it's going to be four and it's a you know a little bit hard to play because I'm not used to use it like this.

[09:21] [Music].

[09:26] But this is how it works, right?

[09:28] 1, 2, 3, 4, it goes to the next row right here.

[09:32] And if we do five, it's just you know the same idea but with five: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

[09:39] And this one is going to go to the next row.

[09:41] Now at the end of the day, it's completely up to you again how you want to use it.

[09:47] If you want to use the two fingers, three fingers, or maybe you can even go into chromatic and select one of the other combinations.

[09:58] All right, so the last part of the configuration for this is going to be the MIDI, which is the options that you have right here.

[10:05] Right now it's outputting the MIDI notes on the channel number one.

[10:11] So you have the 16 channels right here; this is why the first one is the one that is selected.

[10:16] If I go to the door and play something, you can see the channel one is the one receiving note information.

[10:19] But if you want to change it, of course you can.

[10:22] I'm going to go to the 16 just to go some place else.

[10:27] And now I play it, now the 16 is getting the note data.

[10:32] Okay, so now that we know how the note mode works, we need to talk about the chord mode.

[10:39] And I know again the layout looks a little bit challenging, but it's just pretty simple.

[10:45] So I'm using a scaler right now just to see, you know, all the keys that you get when you play a chord.

[10:52] So first you have this row, the one that's orange right here, so these are triads.

[10:56] So if I play something, you can see right there on the scaler I'm playing triads.

[11:01] Now maybe you're wondering or asking yourself which triads.

[11:05] Well, again, it depends on the configuration that you have on your notes or your chord.

[11:10] And notice that it's the same configuration for both.

[11:12] So if you're using a C right here and minor.

[11:17] Well, it's going to play whatever you have in the chords, whatever Triads you can get under C minor.

[11:22] Then again, just like before, just like the notes mode with the arrows at the top, you can go up in octaves or just go down in octaves.

[11:34] And I guess just like any other MIDI controller, by tapping both at the same time, you go back to the center.

[11:41] And yeah, you go back to the center.

[11:45] But yeah, you just play Triads with this.

[11:47] Then right here at the bottom, you see the purple one.

[11:49] Well, this is going to be the sustain.

[11:51] If I press it, it's going to go on, and I release it, it's going to go off.

[11:54] So if I play, if I press it and I just play, it's going to sustain it.

[11:59] And you can see right there on the scaler on the screen that as I add notes, it's going to stack the notes for us.

[12:03] Cool, right?

[12:08] And when I release it, they all die.

[12:11] Now okay, so you have the triads and you have the sustain or the hold.

[12:16] Then at the left, right here, you have the note.

[12:18] Area and how you read this section because I know it looks confusing.

[12:22] It's actually pretty simple.

[12:24] Is that the first pad, the first of each row, is going to be, you know, a note on the scale.

[12:28] I'm using a C minor, so it's going to be C minor.

[12:35] Now then you have the other ones.

[12:39] This is, you know, the confusing part.

[12:42] So if this one is the first, this one, the second one, is going to be a fifth.

[12:47] And again, I'm showing you the keyboard right now so you can see it on the screen.

[12:51] So this one is the fifth.

[12:54] First root in case and then fifth.

[12:57] Now you could assume that this one is going to be a third.

[12:58] So it is a third, but it's going to be a third raised an octave.

[13:05] If I go to the fourth one, the fourth one is going to be a seventh.

[13:10] And now if I go to the fifth one and I'm holding everything, it's going to be, um, I'm going to go and play Stronger.

[13:18] It's going to be a fifth, but again, it's going to be raised one octave.

[13:24] So this is how it works, and for all the other paths, the paths is just the same one.

[13:30] 5th, 3rd, 7th, fifth, and then again 1, 5, 3, 7, F.

[13:37] And this is how the whole note area was, you know, it's laid out.

[13:41] And when you play it, when you use it, you can, you know, play chords, the usual chords just like this by playing the first one.

[13:50] But you can do something like this, and it's super musical.

[13:54] It's always musical that everything I'm playing sounds great.

[14:03] I'm just randomly, just, you know, playing some pads.

[14:08] I'm not, you know, making a big effort right here.

[14:11] All right, so this is the second part of the deal.

[14:14] You have your triads, you have your tones, and then on this.

[14:19] Side of the screen notice is white.

[14:21] What you can do on this one is that when you store a chord you can just record it when you hold it and you can create whatever chord right here.

[14:29] And then when you play one single pad it is going to be playing your custom created chord.

[14:34] All right, so how can you create a chord?

[14:37] Green here at the bottom, this one is going to be play, so you cannot create chords when this one is on green.

[14:45] And the actual mode, I guess it's play mode, it's play, and this one is going to be the record on.

[14:50] So red is going to be, you know, rec, and green is going to be play, because that's very simple.

[14:56] So I'm going to be on red because I want to record a chord.

[15:01] Let's say that I want to add this triad, but I also want to add this note at the bottom.

[15:07] So once I'm holding this and I'm again holding, you just tap that one and I'm going to release.

[15:12] And now if I play, notice that we get it, we just recorded whatever is that we did to this.

[15:20] Pad, I'm going to do another one.

[15:22] So I'm going to be holding this.

[15:24] I'm going to be hold it, notice it goes red.

[15:26] And I'm going to be tapping and this one goes red.

[15:29] I'm going to tap this, tap this, tap this.

[15:31] And I made a mistake, I'm going to remove it.

[15:33] And there you go.

[15:35] I just, you know, by holding this, I know that the whatever notes that I just pressed are going to be part of this chord when I release.

[15:42] There we go, we are done.

[15:44] If I want to play it, we get it.

[15:47] So right, so you have those two modes.

[15:50] Remember, it's going to be by holding a pad, adding the notes, releasing, or just playing a chord or whatever.

[15:58] And then just pressing the pad and everything will be recorded.

[16:00] Now, how can you maybe remove notes or edit the chords?

[16:05] Well, since you are on record, you can edit.

[16:07] When you just press this, you can tap out whatever is that you have on red.

[16:14] Maybe I just want to change and add something new.

[16:16] And there we go, it's going to be that one if I want to delete this.

[16:21] Uh, this chord, I can just remove everything that is readed.

[16:26] And when I remove, notice that this is not, you know, highlight light it anymore.

[16:30] Another way to clear chords is going to be by doing clear and then holding the clear and just, you know, pressing the bank or the slot and it will just clear the chord.

[16:40] I'm going to do it for this ones as well and there you go.

[16:41] I, if I play something, I have absolutely nothing.

[16:46] If, um, I'm going to be adding one chord, let's say I going to be adding this and then a note at the bottom, I'm going to release it and then I get it.

[16:54] Now what is the point of having the wreck on or the green, right?

[16:57] What's the point of green R?

[16:59] Because if I'm on wreck, I can, I can play this.

[17:02] The thing is that if I, if I want to play this chord, I know I can, I'm playing it.

[17:06] If I press something else, it's going to add it to the actual chord and maybe I don't want to add it.

[17:12] I just want to play it live.

[17:14] This is why you need to be on the green mode.

[17:16] This is why it's called play mode.

[17:17] Uh, if I play a chord, whatever I do, right?

[17:22] Here it doesn't matter, it will not modify the chord in memory.

[17:26] If I release it, you know, it's the same chord.

[17:30] Okay, so we already know I'm going to go back to notes.

[17:32] We already know that when we press these ones, these are the track select.

[17:36] So if I press the track, it's going to load, or at least, you know, stand on that track.

[17:44] You can see up to eight; you have four here and four here.

[17:50] You can only see eight tracks at one time.

[17:54] But the thing is that, of course, what happens if you have a lot more?

[17:58] If I go to the eight, as you can see on the DAW, I'm showing the DAW right now, I can only go to the track number eight.

[18:03] But maybe I just want to go to the nine.

[18:06] So with the controls right here at the top, especially if you're in session, you can move by ones.

[18:10] And we're going to talk about the session mode and how we can create clips and everything else.

[18:17] But with the buttons right here, you can move horizontally, and if you want...

[18:22] To navigate, uh, to the bottom, you know, vertically, you can do it with this once.

[18:27] But we're going to talk about this in a minute, okay?

[18:28] So I'm going to be going maybe to the first track.

[18:30] If I go here to the record arm, it's like a secondary screen.

[18:35] This ones are the same eight tracks that we have right there on the screen, but on this ones are going to be...

[18:42] I'm going to be turning on the record arm track, and this is going to be really useful when we record clips.

[18:49] So when I get out of here, it's going to go back to the main mode, which is, you know, the track select.

[18:52] All right, so I'm going to stay on that track.

[18:54] If I go to mute, everything goes yellow; it means that we are mute.

[18:58] So I can mute the first track, or I can, you know, mute multiple tracks at once.

[19:04] All right, I guess, you know, it's pretty simple.

[19:08] I'm going to go to solo, and on this one you can do the same thing.

[19:11] I'm going to be soloing the first one, or the second, the third one, and so on and so on and so on.

[19:17] If I want to, again, unsolo, you just need to tap the same track and it will unsolo.

[19:20] And just tap it to get out.

[19:22] Coming up next is...

[19:24] Going to be the volume, and again if I go to volume right here, you can of course go through the different tracks.

[19:32] And it will show you, uh, you know, it's just going to select the track.

[19:36] But still, when we are in volume, it doesn't matter because right here on the different paths, it will show you the volume for all the different tracks: the track number one, the two, the three, the four, and so on and so on and so on.

[19:50] So if I wanted to go to the track number one and go down in volume, we go down in volume on the track number one.

[19:54] By default, this has an animation; it's not super fast.

[19:59] Maybe if I go up, it's going to take a little while just to go up in volume and go down in volume.

[20:03] It depends on how hard you press it.

[20:06] If I go really soft press it soft, it's like the velocity is fading out the volume or fading in, depends on how you want to call it.

[20:16] But yeah, it depends on the velocity, and again, all of this just controls the different volume of the tracks and so on and so on and so.

[20:24] on we have a way of changing this this

[20:27] fading uh type of this animation type of

[20:30] behavior when we go uh to the setup I'm

[20:33] going to show you uh how to do that in a

[20:35] minute now coming up next is going to be

[20:37] the panning and the panning is a little

[20:38] bit different from the volume you know

[20:40] the volume we have vertical vertical

[20:43] lines to for each of the tracks but

[20:45] right here on the Penning uh all the

[20:47] tracks are going to be you know

[20:49] horizontal this is going to be the

[20:51] Penning for the first track and as you

[20:53] can see you know we are just changing

[20:56] the first track panning and if I go back

[20:58] again to the beginning it will always be

[21:01] at center right here and the same with

[21:03] this one if I go to the left and this

[21:06] one to the right you know or left and

[21:08] right uh going to be able to do it so

[21:10] this is how you do it you know and

[21:12] remember again if you're working with a

[21:14] lot of different tracks with the arrows

[21:16] you can just you know move to the next

[21:19] you know tracks or Clips but we're going

[21:22] to talk about this in a minute in this

[21:24] case I just want to go uh to Center

[21:27] everything at Center so going to go

[21:28] there and I don't like the animation I'm

[21:30] going to again show you how to disable

[21:32] this in a minute if I go to the sense

[21:35] this one works just like the volume is

[21:37] the you know the same interface let's

[21:38] say it's not like the Penning you know

[21:40] which is you know horizontally it's

[21:42] vertically uh so on this one it's the

[21:45] same all the tracks I can send maybe if

[21:48] I do it fast I can send to the track a

[21:51] of the first track if I want to go to

[21:53] the second track and send some more to

[21:56] the a I'm going to be able to do it and

[21:59] if I go to the third track I'm going to

[22:01] be able to send something there in this

[22:04] case I'm going to just disable all this

[22:07] now notice that I can only send to the

[22:09] track uh number a to the bus a what if I

[22:12] wanted to send to the bus number b or

[22:15] maybe just a different bus so right here

[22:17] you have the controls since you have a

[22:19] limited amount of buses at least on uh

[22:23] ailon well this is going to be the track

[22:25] a if I tap this one it's going to be the

[22:27] track B so now I'm going to be able to

[22:29] send something to the track B and that's

[22:33] it you know that's how you do it if uh

[22:36] you want to do nothing you just go all

[22:38] the way down coming up next is going to

[22:40] be the device and this is going to be

[22:43] about about the macros if I maybe I'm

[22:46] going to do it with you know the

[22:47] controls that's why we have them uh I'm

[22:49] going to select the track where we have

[22:51] macros I guess on this track I do have

[22:53] some macros you see them right there on

[22:55] the screen and again this one works just

[22:57] like the sense and just like the the

[22:58] volume every single row is going to be a

[23:01] macro so if I go here and go up it's

[23:04] going to change what we can control

[23:07] whatever macro that we have and how this

[23:09] works again remember that the macros can

[23:11] only give you a certain amount of of

[23:15] knobs so right now the first row is

[23:18] going to be the first eight uh if we

[23:20] check take a look at the do is going to

[23:22] be the first eight if I go to the second

[23:25] row it's completely empty so right here

[23:27] with the buttons you this is how you

[23:29] navigate the different rows so first row

[23:32] and then second row or second page

[23:34] depends on you know depending on what

[23:35] you're doing so if I go here and start

[23:38] changing all the values here we can see

[23:41] the macros on the actual device again if

[23:45] you wants to go down you just press hard

[23:48] and it's going to just go down on all of

[23:50] them all right so you know again that's

[23:53] how you do it if I go back I'm going to

[23:56] go to the next mode which is going to be

[23:59] the stop clip now this one is about

[24:02] stopping the playback of the tracks if I

[24:05] go again to stop clip notice that this

[24:07] one is just like wreck if I go here it's

[24:09] just pretty much the same thing but this

[24:11] one what it will do it will stop the

[24:13] playback of a clip again we get to talk

[24:15] about this in a session uh when we talk

[24:17] about the session mode but if I have a

[24:18] clip right here that it's just playing

[24:20] back and it's just you know playing

[24:23] whenever I go there I just trigger the

[24:25] stop I just stop the clip and this works

[24:27] for all all the you know the different

[24:29] the different tracks all right so you do

[24:32] have secondary functions I'm going to be

[24:33] pressing shift uh maybe you don't see it

[24:36] because it's off camera but as soon as I

[24:37] do it you have uh some extra ones the

[24:40] first one if you tap it it's going to uh

[24:42] do an undo the mute is going to do a

[24:45] redo and then of course you have the

[24:47] other options which is just going to be

[24:49] enabling the metronome right so it's on

[24:52] or it's off and this one what it does is

[24:55] going to be you know the tap Tempo so if

[24:57] I just tap it is going to alter the

[25:00] tempo and you can see it right there on

[25:01] the screen all right so that's pretty

[25:03] much it about controlling tracks right

[25:06] so if you go to a track you just go with

[25:08] the buttons right here if you want to

[25:10] arm it you go there if you wants to mute

[25:12] it if you wants to solo it if you wants

[25:14] to control the volume if you want to

[25:16] control the panning remember you can go

[25:19] to different tracks on some of the modes

[25:21] if you want do some sentence if you want

[25:24] to control the macros and then if you

[25:26] want to stop the clips if you're planks

[25:28] and clips and again when you do shift

[25:31] you can undo and redo and you can

[25:33] control the metronome and just set the

[25:36] tempo with this one just you know pretty

[25:38] pretty simple and easy to use once you

[25:41] you know once you remember all of this

[25:42] once you understand it now you have one

[25:45] more thing called momentary view

[25:48] switching so let's say I'm going to be

[25:50] right here on record arm and I want to

[25:52] you know record some clips we going to

[25:54] do something like this in a minute so

[25:56] I'm going to be just you know constantly

[25:57] going to different tracks just to enable

[26:00] some of the clips maybe I want to change

[26:03] the volume so I it means that I need to

[26:06] get out of this mode go to this mode go

[26:09] to the volumes and then go back to this

[26:11] mode but maybe I'm just you know this

[26:13] kind of a kills the the Vive so by

[26:16] holding and just holding you never

[26:18] release it you can make your changes

[26:20] right here and when you release this one

[26:23] is going to go back to whatever mode you

[26:24] had before holding this value and this

[26:27] works for pretty much everything if I

[26:29] want to to do to change the sense I

[26:31] could do something like this and then I

[26:33] release it and goes back to record arm I

[26:35] could do volume just you know change the

[26:37] volume and then you know release it and

[26:39] goes back to whatever mode I had before

[26:42] and this is really useful because when

[26:44] you are playing like you know we're

[26:46] going to talk about this in a minute

[26:47] when you're playing and doing something

[26:48] you can uh you know quickly go to

[26:51] different modes without without getting

[26:53] out of whatever you are okay so in

[26:56] session we can play clips and and of

[26:58] course we can record new clips let's

[27:00] first uh learn how to play them on the

[27:03] screen you can see I have nine different

[27:05] tracks and I have 10 different clips for

[27:08] each of the tracks this is going to be

[27:10] important in a minute so whenever you

[27:13] have something right here on your screen

[27:15] it will reflect on your pads so I'm

[27:18] going to I'm going to add manually

[27:19] whatever clip and notice that right here

[27:21] is going to show it if I add more it's

[27:24] going to show the same colors or almost

[27:26] the same colors I have have on the

[27:29] different

[27:30] tracks I'm going to be adding one there

[27:33] now if I add more just like this now

[27:36] whatever is that you have and I'm doing

[27:38] this randomly it doesn't matter it's

[27:40] just so you can see that whenever you

[27:42] have Clips it's going to show the clips

[27:45] on the screen some of the colors it's

[27:48] just not doing it for example right here

[27:50] you know it should be doing kind of a

[27:53] orange or maybe a brownish type of color

[27:56] it's just not getting it but that's fine

[27:59] so once you of course you have some

[28:01] clips you want to start playing those

[28:04] clips if you want to play a clip let's

[28:06] say I want to play the first one just

[28:08] you just tap it and it's going to start

[28:10] you know playing that one if I want to

[28:12] play this one it's going to go and do it

[28:14] and so on and on and on all the ones

[28:17] that are just blinking are the ones that

[28:19] are just playing if you want to play a

[28:22] clip that belongs to the same track of

[28:24] course is going to cue in you know the

[28:27] next clip this when it's going to stop

[28:29] it's going to play the next one notice

[28:31] it blinks before it cues to the next

[28:34] clip if I play this and then I play that

[28:36] it's going to Blink so it depends of

[28:38] course on your clip and how long that

[28:40] clip is uh this is how this is how it

[28:43] works right you just press whatever you

[28:45] want and it will just play that order

[28:47] off the clips remember that by going to

[28:49] stop clip right here I can stop all the

[28:52] clips that are just playing on the

[28:54] different uh tracks and I can you know

[28:56] stop pretty much the whole damn thing I

[28:59] couldn't find a way to St all the clips

[29:02] at once on this session without going to

[29:05] each of the tracks I couldn't find it

[29:07] and it seems that some people on the web

[29:10] are just you know complaining about the

[29:11] same thing but you do have a custom mode

[29:13] so you can create a custom uh maybe

[29:16] button to trigger some of the actions

[29:18] that you don't have available by default

[29:21] now if I just you know start all maybe

[29:24] all the first Clips uh what you can do

[29:26] let's say I want to maybe select a clip

[29:29] without launching it you can you need to

[29:32] go to shift hold the shift and when you

[29:35] tap on that clip you can see that I'm

[29:37] selecting that clip but I'm not you know

[29:40] playing it I'm not launching that clip

[29:43] now at the right side you have your

[29:45] scenes so if you play this one of course

[29:48] you will play the first scene if I play

[29:50] this is going to play the second scene

[29:53] and the third one and the fourth one I

[29:55] guess all of this just you know pretty

[29:57] obvious all right so when you are

[29:58] playing a thing that you need to know is

[30:01] how the play Works uh if you press play

[30:03] it will stop the playb but if you press

[30:06] uh press play again everything's just

[30:08] kind of a start from starts from the

[30:10] beginning all right so you stop you play

[30:12] you play and starts from the beginning

[30:14] but if you hold the shift and you do

[30:16] play it will stop it but instead of

[30:19] stopping it's pausing so when I play it

[30:21] again it will resume from that play So

[30:24] this is when holding shift it's more

[30:26] like an a play and a pass that just you

[30:28] know stop and restart playback all right

[30:31] so remember that the uh the view by

[30:33] default is going to be 8 by 8 if you

[30:36] want to go to the uh tracks and the

[30:39] clips that you know are not right here

[30:41] you can in session you can use your

[30:44] arrows and just you know move one up or

[30:47] one down or you know one to the left and

[30:49] so on and so on now the problem is that

[30:52] sometimes sometimes not always maybe you

[30:55] have a session with I don't know 30

[30:57] different tracks

[30:58] and 50 different clips on each track

[31:01] right so you have something crazy like

[31:03] this so going by just you know by one

[31:06] it's just a little bit annoying just a

[31:07] little bit annoying so if you hold the

[31:10] button session and you hold it notice

[31:12] that we get something different so this

[31:15] what it does is going to jump by eight

[31:17] different tracks uh on the horizontal

[31:20] and then vertical is going to go by

[31:21] eight different clips so this is a much

[31:24] easier way if you have a super long

[31:27] session all right so this is how you can

[31:29] play the clips once you have them right

[31:31] here you just play them back if you want

[31:33] to stop it make sure you go to stop clip

[31:35] and you kill whatever is that it's

[31:37] playing back and if you wants to play a

[31:39] scene you just press the button and

[31:41] that's it and again if you wants to stop

[31:44] it you can't just do something like that

[31:46] and it's going to stop them all all

[31:48] right so everything we've learned so far

[31:50] like you know controlling the notes the

[31:52] chords and then the tracks and just

[31:55] playing the clips on the session view

[31:57] comes down to creating Clips on the go

[32:00] I'm starting with an empty session and

[32:03] you need to make sure I'm going to

[32:04] enable the metronome right here you have

[32:06] it and on the options I have two bars as

[32:09] a count in and I only have the metronome

[32:12] when recording and I guess my Tempo is

[32:14] going to be 120 119 something like that

[32:17] make sure that you're not playing back

[32:19] that everything's just stopped okay so

[32:21] what I want to do I want to go to my

[32:23] drum my drums and I want to record some

[32:26] drums now remember that if you're in

[32:28] session you need to record or arm the

[32:31] track that you want to record and now

[32:33] the only thing that we need to do is we

[32:35] need to tap the clip this will start the

[32:37] recording notice it will count in and

[32:44] then we record something now when we of

[32:47] course it will keep recording behind the

[32:49] scenes I can press this one and it will

[32:52] stop recording and it will go back to

[32:54] the clip now if I go to the doll and

[32:57] show you what we have on the clip notice

[32:59] that the clip is very long so it will

[33:02] not stop recording until you of course

[33:05] press uh the wreck or you go back to the

[33:08] session and you tap whatever is uh clip

[33:11] that you're recording now if you want to

[33:13] erase the clip I'm going to do clear and

[33:15] I'm going to do this and I'm going to

[33:17] erase it and I'm going to record it

[33:19] again is 2 3 4 1 two bars

[33:23] [Music]

[33:28] I go to session when I tap this it will

[33:30] stop and of course it will keep the

[33:32] playback okay cool whenever we tap a

[33:35] clip it will start recording we know

[33:36] that but we have a few problems the

[33:39] length of the clip right now we can see

[33:41] that it's a little bit off and the

[33:43] quantization you know it's not

[33:45] quantizing you know all the noes are

[33:47] just a little bit off now you have a

[33:49] couple of options right here if you

[33:51] recorded something and you want to

[33:54] quantize it the uh button right here is

[33:57] going to say quantize you can press and

[33:59] hold and once you do this you just tap

[34:02] whatever is that you want to quantize

[34:04] and it will you know quantize it for you

[34:07] so that's one way of doing it what if

[34:10] you want to record and you know quantize

[34:13] at the same time you can do so I'm going

[34:15] to hold the clear and I'm going to clear

[34:18] uh the clip and I'm going to start over

[34:20] to enable the quantization you need to

[34:23] go to shift and right here is going to

[34:25] say quantize again but it's red if you

[34:27] press it is going to be like on a green

[34:30] or something something like that this

[34:31] means that the record quantized now it's

[34:34] on so when you uh record something is

[34:37] going to quantise it for

[34:43] you and to stop it I'm going to press

[34:46] direct to stop and there we go now it's

[34:48] quantize I don't need to you know

[34:50] manually go and quantize it okay so next

[34:53] problem which you know again it's just

[34:55] not a problem it's just the way it works

[34:56] what I want to do I want to record a two

[34:59] bar Loop and I want for this to stop at

[35:02] two bars I don't want want it to keep

[35:05] going because it will require for me to

[35:08] press the rec to stop or just go into

[35:10] session and uh just tap the clip to stop

[35:13] recording and you do have a function to

[35:15] fix this I'm going to go to clear and

[35:17] I'm going to clear the whole uh you know

[35:19] the whole clip I'm going to erase it and

[35:21] right here at the bottom you have a

[35:22] button that says fixed length so when

[35:25] you press it it's going to turn blue

[35:27] this this means that you are turning on

[35:29] the fixed length the thing is that you

[35:31] need to configure how many bars you want

[35:35] uh to record and if you press and hold

[35:38] at the bottom it will you know show you

[35:40] it will turn blue this means it's going

[35:42] to be one bar two bars three four five 6

[35:46] 7 and eight so if you want to uh record

[35:49] a fixed bar a fixed the clip of eight

[35:52] bars you need to enable them all you

[35:54] cannot do more than eight which is you

[35:55] know I guess that's fine I'm going to go

[35:58] for two I'm going to release it and when

[36:00] I record this will stop at two bars so

[36:04] I'm going to go

[36:05] here one

[36:12] more and it will just you know there you

[36:15] go just do it for me I don't need to

[36:17] stomp it manually which is you know just

[36:20] great if I want to stop it remember you

[36:22] can press play and press again and it

[36:24] will start from the beginning or if you

[36:26] want do shift and then press play it

[36:28] will pause and then pressing again it

[36:31] will continue you know while holding the

[36:33] shift continue from where you play you

[36:36] you post whatever is that you're playing

[36:39] if I go back I press this and I I have

[36:42] that you know that clip playing what I

[36:44] want to do since I have a clip I want to

[36:47] record something at the top so it's

[36:50] going to be this button when you enable

[36:53] this notice that recording goes on so

[36:55] this is the overdub whatever you play

[36:58] right here is going to record it on top

[37:00] of the uh you know the playing clip if

[37:02] you disable this what you can do you can

[37:04] play at the top and audition whatever is

[37:06] that you you know you select let's say I

[37:09] want to record this one I'm going to

[37:10] turn it

[37:12] [Music]

[37:16] on there you go if he wants to turn it

[37:20] off and then maybe do something like

[37:22] that

[37:29] and you just you know keep adding more

[37:34] [Music]

[37:39] stuff there we go it's

[37:41] [Music]

[37:48] uh and it's that easy I mean that easy

[38:01] all right now of course I I've recorded

[38:05] a lot of different things and if you

[38:07] take a look at the clip uh you know we

[38:09] have a lot a lot of things what if what

[38:12] happens if I want to delete some of the

[38:14] parts we know that by going to session

[38:16] if I go to clear and just you know tap

[38:19] this one is going to you know delete the

[38:21] whole damn thing but I don't want this I

[38:24] want to delete Parts I'm going to play

[38:26] it back and I can see you know whatever

[38:29] he's playing because you know it's just

[38:30] flashing when it's playing so let's say

[38:32] I want to delete the notes I'm going to

[38:34] hold it clear and by tapping this one is

[38:36] going to Kaboom the whole you know the

[38:40] whole

[38:41] instrument let's see I'm going to delete

[38:43] that one what else do we have we have

[38:45] that one so I'm just delete that one we

[38:49] have this one is the Hat we have some

[38:51] claps I'm going to delete it and if I

[38:53] want to delete hats I delete the hats

[38:58] now always remember that you do have the

[39:01] shift hold the shift and you have the

[39:03] undo and the redo so if you do something

[39:05] that you don't want uh you can always go

[39:08] back now one more thing that you really

[39:10] need to know if I'm uh playing back on

[39:12] session if I just press the clear

[39:15] nothing really happens until you know of

[39:16] course I hold hold clear and I do some

[39:19] extra stuff if I'm standing right here

[39:22] on the note and I press clear is going

[39:25] to delete the clip so you need to make

[39:27] sure that when you do this you really

[39:30] want to delete the clip if I hold shift

[39:32] and it want to undo of course I can go

[39:34] back all right so let me show you a

[39:36] couple more things I'm going to be

[39:37] playing that four in the floor that we

[39:38] have and we know it's just you know two

[39:41] bars which is it's fine now what I want

[39:43] to do I want to extend it so on session

[39:46] mode not node mode because it's a little

[39:48] bit different in session mode I can hold

[39:51] the shift and right here you can see

[39:53] this that says duplicate or double if I

[39:56] hold it and just press it hold both and

[39:59] press both at once if I tap this clip is

[40:02] going to duplicate the length so if it

[40:04] was two bars now it's going to be four

[40:06] bars and if I do it again uh just shift

[40:10] and duplicate it's going to be now of

[40:12] course eight bars all right so yeah this

[40:14] is how you just extend uh the uh the

[40:17] clip I'm going to be going back uh just

[40:19] you know just what we have before just

[40:22] two and I'm going to you know extend all

[40:24] this okay so let me show you a couple

[40:26] more things uh without holding the shift

[40:28] by going to duplicate if I press and

[40:31] hold if I press this one tap this one is

[40:34] going to take whatever we have that clip

[40:36] duplicated and allocated on the next

[40:39] upcoming clip so I'm going to do it and

[40:41] now we have a new clip if I go there is

[40:44] you know the same um you know for in the

[40:46] floor and this is you know a way of just

[40:49] you know duplicating whatever we have so

[40:51] we can record different variations now

[40:54] you know we have a better way to do this

[40:56] I'm going to go to clear and I'm going

[40:58] to delete this and I'm going to play the

[41:00] first clip I'm going to go to the notes

[41:03] mode let me uh play this I'm going to go

[41:05] to notes so now when we do the duplicate

[41:08] thing here is going to work a little bit

[41:11] different so I'm going to be pressing

[41:13] the duplicate button I'm going to press

[41:15] it and this is what happens on the doll

[41:19] right there we can see that now we have

[41:20] two clips and it's playing the second

[41:23] one so whenever you in notes mode or

[41:25] chords you know whenever you are on this

[41:27] modes uh when you press the duplicate it

[41:29] will take whatever you have duplicated

[41:31] and play back the other one all right so

[41:34] what is the point of you know having all

[41:35] of this I'm going to go to clear and

[41:37] just clear the second and go to the

[41:38] first one so let's say you know I did

[41:41] something like this and I want to extend

[41:42] it and create different variation

[41:45] different variations so the whole point

[41:46] is that I can go to duplicate super fast

[41:49] and can

[41:50] enable and just record something on the

[41:53] go and it's going to do it for me now if

[41:57] I want to maybe made a mistake right

[41:59] there but now if I want to maybe take

[42:01] this and record a new variation I do

[42:04] duplicate is going to duplicate and now

[42:06] I can you know record something

[42:10] [Music]

[42:13] else and now just like that you know we

[42:17] have a three different clips doing

[42:20] something different if I go to this one

[42:23] it's going to play the first variation

[42:25] second variation the first variation and

[42:27] this is because the re is on I'm going

[42:29] to turn off uh the first variation the

[42:31] second one and then the third one and we

[42:34] just did you know into split of a second

[42:36] super super cool feature this device

[42:40] already gives us a lot you know with the

[42:42] notes the chords uh handling the

[42:44] sessions and everything else but you

[42:46] also have an extra custom mode and right

[42:48] here you can create your own mode and

[42:50] you have up to eight different modes you

[42:53] can customize and you can you know do a

[42:56] lot of things you can

[42:57] doll uh features or S CCS or you can do

[43:01] program change if you use this with syn

[43:03] or different synthesizers or different

[43:05] uh you know different devices you can

[43:07] configure this to send whatever message

[43:09] is that you want to uh send now the

[43:12] thing is that by uh from Factory and

[43:13] this is how I got it from Factory maybe

[43:15] it's just not like that from Factory uh

[43:18] when you go to custom mode and you go to

[43:20] your default eight custom modes you have

[43:24] nothing so for this you need to go to

[43:26] the web and use something called

[43:28] Novation components which is the app the

[43:30] web app or you can download Novation

[43:33] components and install it in your

[43:35] computer now once you do so and I have

[43:37] it you know I have it right here you can

[43:39] see it you know right there so when I go

[43:41] uh to there it's going to give us the

[43:44] factory custom modes and notice that you

[43:46] have eight so what you can do you can

[43:48] create your own custom mode or you just

[43:50] can maybe upload one of the ones that

[43:53] you have from Factory now when you click

[43:56] on one of on the custom modes you can

[43:58] see what they do for example the first

[44:00] one it says eight unipolar uh vertical

[44:03] faders set it to CC and a specific

[44:07] number and then seven and then through

[44:09] 14 so I'm going to send it you know I'm

[44:11] going to send it to the mode one so when

[44:13] you click Send to the Launchpad Pro you

[44:15] need to se select the slot in this case

[44:18] I'm going to say number one I'm going to

[44:19] override whatever custom mode I have

[44:21] nothing so I'm not going to override

[44:23] anything so if I go to to custom mode

[44:25] now and I go to the first one we have

[44:28] eight different sliders which is you

[44:30] know what it says right there and each

[44:32] of them will output ccs to you know to

[44:37] different uh numbers so this is what you

[44:40] do you just uh create a mode where you

[44:42] do something very specific now from

[44:45] Factory you have a you know the this

[44:47] ones that the ones that you get right

[44:49] here they all do different things but

[44:51] the things that you can create your own

[44:53] uh to do this I'm going to go to new

[44:55] custom mode I'm going to go there and

[44:57] I'm going to say create a custom Mo now

[44:59] right there on the right side it tells

[45:01] you what you can do you can add a

[45:03] vertical uni poar fader maybe I'm going

[45:06] to drag and drop and I'm going to do so

[45:08] and when you do so it's going to ask you

[45:10] the CC number which Med Channel if you

[45:13] need to change that you can change the

[45:15] color if you want it to and then once

[45:17] you're done you just close it and you

[45:19] keep adding more more things for example

[45:21] if I want to add a chromatic keyboard

[45:23] well that's not going to work because

[45:24] the chromatic keyboard uses two complete

[45:27] uh you know uh vertical I'm sorry

[45:29] horizontal rows so you know you kind of

[45:31] need a free spot to do that but you can

[45:34] add other things like a drum grid once

[45:36] you do so it will again ask you more

[45:38] questions and once you're done you click

[45:41] it and then again you have a lot of

[45:42] things including program change and some

[45:46] odd features that you can add to your

[45:48] custom modes let's say I want the drum

[45:51] pad right here and I want more you know

[45:54] maybe uh faders right I'm going to maybe

[45:56] choose different colors I'm going to

[45:58] maybe put a medy note right here you can

[46:00] of course set it up and then maybe I

[46:02] want to do some program change and this

[46:04] one it's going to ask you what you want

[46:06] to do and once you're done customizing

[46:09] your uh your custom mode you just send

[46:12] it or you can of course save it and this

[46:14] will save it on your own custom modes or

[46:16] your account in this case I'm going to

[46:18] send it I don't want to save it I'm

[46:20] going to send it to the number two and

[46:22] once I'm done I'm going to overwrite the

[46:24] whatever custom mode and now if I go to

[46:26] the device and I go to the number two

[46:28] you know we got what what was promised

[46:31] we got the fader and then right here you

[46:33] know we have the the other fader which

[46:35] uh right now it's kind of a my fail

[46:38] because it's mapping the same CC's so uh

[46:42] by modifying this is modifying the

[46:44] second line and by modifying this one is

[46:46] just you know modifying the other one

[46:48] but then again you have the the drums

[46:50] and then you have the send the send and

[46:52] then the program change so all this is

[46:54] something that you need to do on your

[46:56] own configure and this is a super

[46:59] important tool especially if you want to

[47:02] do something extra with you know again

[47:04] external synthesizers or external

[47:07] external hardware let's say that you

[47:09] want to do some very specific features

[47:12] or to trigger some very specific things

[47:14] on your doll for example and you know

[47:16] that the doll is going to respond to a

[47:18] very specific CC and a fader well you

[47:21] know you create a custom mode you target

[47:23] all whatever all your faders You map it

[47:25] to the CCS that you want and when you go

[47:27] to the custom mode you can control

[47:30] different things on your on your doll

[47:32] you know that's the main idea of having

[47:34] a custom mode and you have eight of this

[47:37] you can go you know you can go crazy one

[47:40] more thing that you need to know is that

[47:41] when you have a custom mode you need you

[47:44] can go to the configurations of the

[47:47] custom mode the only thing that you can

[47:49] do right here is going to be the medy

[47:51] channel by default right now all of them

[47:54] are going to medy channel number one

[47:56] remember you have have 16 so the C the

[47:59] custom number one is going to the one

[48:01] but maybe the the custom uh mode to I

[48:05] wanted to for this one to go to the 16

[48:07] so if I go to 16 now it's sending to the

[48:10] 16 so if I go to the third one notice I

[48:13] can change the third to I don't know the

[48:15] mey the the mey channel number three but

[48:18] it's going to show you which ones are

[48:20] you know occupied you know the the one

[48:23] the custom mode One is using channel

[48:24] number one the custom mode channel two

[48:27] uh the the two is using the channel 16

[48:30] and now you know the three is using the

[48:32] the the three then maybe the four is

[48:34] going to use the two and so on and so on

[48:37] so it will tell you which uh channels

[48:40] are occupied already for your C for your

[48:42] custom modes and okay if you press this

[48:44] setup option it will give you more

[48:47] options right here at the bottom you can

[48:49] see what you can select you have again

[48:51] different options and all of them are

[48:53] super you know confusing because you

[48:55] don't see the letters or what they do

[48:58] you need to go to the manual but you

[48:59] know you don't need to I'm going to let

[49:01] you know what they do right now you need

[49:03] to know is that you need to hold it in

[49:05] order to get the screen so this is going

[49:07] to be the let intensity I guess I

[49:10] already showed you this there's a

[49:11] different way to adjust the brightness

[49:14] of this I'm going to go all the way to

[49:16] minimum and then at the bottom you have

[49:18] two extra options so right here you can

[49:20] turn off the lets and this means that

[49:22] when you turn it off of course you're

[49:24] pretty much kind of uh like turning off

[49:26] the the device all the lets to save

[49:28] energy as soon as you press something

[49:30] it's going to go back um it's going to

[49:32] be this one now this one is the Vegas

[49:35] mode if you turn it off right now it's

[49:37] red which means it's off and this is the

[49:39] uh the Vegas mode whenever you don't use

[49:42] this it's going to go on a show it's

[49:44] called Vegas mode it will use that Vegas

[49:47] mode if you don't like it and I really

[49:50] don't like the Vegas mode I think it's

[49:52] just annoying to see uh you can turn it

[49:55] off from here that's the the the let I'm

[49:58] going to go to the next option and this

[50:00] one is going to be above the velocity

[50:02] now you don't have a lot of options

[50:04] right here this one is going to turn off

[50:06] the velocity so now of course let me

[50:08] just go uh maybe

[50:10] to the first one I have no no velocity

[50:15] just completely off so right here you

[50:17] can turn it off and

[50:19] now you get the velocity back so notice

[50:22] that when you turn it off or turn it on

[50:25] this options right here at the B at the

[50:27] bottom they just you know go away and

[50:29] this is because this is the velocity

[50:31] curve so if I go here this one is going

[50:33] to be low this one is going to be medium

[50:36] and this one is going to be high and all

[50:38] this is you know again about V velocity

[50:41] right here on this options this one's

[50:44] what what they are they are just

[50:45] different profiles of velocity for

[50:47] example if I stay on this one for

[50:50] example if I stay on this one and I

[50:54] press and I'm not pressing really hard

[50:57] it's

[50:58] just no it's okay I guess you know you

[51:00] you cannot feel it I can feel it but I'm

[51:03] not doing super hard it's just you know

[51:06] very soft we get that now I'm going to

[51:08] go to the other side to the other to the

[51:10] uh minimum let's say I'm going to do the

[51:12] same that is is just softer so these are

[51:16] just you know different profiles

[51:17] profiles in terms of velocity I guess

[51:20] this one is the default and right here

[51:22] you just need to go to the settings and

[51:24] try the setting that you like the most

[51:27] so then we have after touch in terms of

[51:30] after Touch by default it's going to be

[51:32] um you know it's going to be on or off

[51:33] depends on what you want to do so if you

[51:36] go to here you're pretty much disabling

[51:38] the aftertouch you're turning it off and

[51:41] you have two options you have the poly

[51:44] after touch which is this option and

[51:46] then you have Channel pressure it's two

[51:49] different types of uh after touch it's

[51:51] again completely up to you still when

[51:53] you are on either uh mode at the bottom

[51:57] you this is the threshold this is going

[51:59] to be off and you have two different

[52:01] profiles the low and the high again all

[52:04] this just you know for after touch and

[52:06] you need to go right here and just

[52:08] configure it out so then you have the

[52:10] medy this one is just pretty simple this

[52:13] one is going to be the receive and this

[52:15] one is the transmit and I'm talking

[52:17] about the clock this is the mey clock on

[52:19] and off and then on the other side and

[52:22] notice that you don't have a lot on the

[52:23] other side you have the out two and they

[52:26] through so this is the um you know the

[52:28] medi out pretty much so if I go here

[52:31] nothing happens you know you can select

[52:34] either through or the out two so at the

[52:38] back right there at the back you have

[52:40] the medy out and you have an out one and

[52:42] an out two so pretty much when you are

[52:44] selecting out two it means that out two

[52:47] will duplicate whatever the output one

[52:50] which is the default will do now this

[52:53] one is the fader velocity again you

[52:55] don't have a lot of options so this one

[52:57] is the uh the one that I I was talking

[52:59] about the the the animation that you get

[53:01] when you talk you press the faders by

[53:04] default the animation uh it's kind of

[53:06] off on on so if I turn it off now if I

[53:10] maybe go to volume whatever I press it

[53:12] is going to be super you know super fast

[53:15] it doesn't care about the velocity I

[53:18] press to change or you know to change

[53:20] the volume it's just going to go and do

[53:22] it if I go again and turn it on remember

[53:25] that the veloc if I do super slow it's

[53:27] going to take a long time to get there

[53:30] now maybe uh because I was you know I

[53:33] asked myself when I just got this device

[53:36] what is the purpose of you know having

[53:38] this type of Animation or velocity when

[53:41] we change values and it's if you think

[53:43] about this if you're performing or doing

[53:45] something live if this is off right you

[53:48] have it off and you tap this is going to

[53:51] go really aggressively all the way down

[53:53] depend you know whatever is that you're

[53:54] doing maybe it's volume maybe it's

[53:56] panning whatever it doesn't matter so

[53:57] it's super aggressive so if you turn it

[54:00] on by using velocity you can handle how

[54:04] fast you want that transition so if you

[54:07] are maybe working you use this uh on a

[54:09] doll and you work at home maybe you

[54:12] don't get give an f about the the

[54:14] transitioning so you can go there and

[54:16] just turn it off and use it like a

[54:18] normal you know fader now one more thing

[54:21] before you go I'm going to unplug this

[54:24] just going to turn it off and I'm just

[54:26] plug it in and I'm going to plug it in

[54:29] again but first i'm going to hold the

[54:31] setup and then I'm going to plug it in

[54:33] so when you do this it's going to give

[54:34] you uh kind of the the configuration uh

[54:37] for the device I can release it this is

[54:40] the boot loader menu at the top you can

[54:43] you have the device ID and maybe you

[54:45] don't see it the camera is not showing

[54:47] it because of the exposure and light and

[54:49] the brightness right here at the top is

[54:51] selecting the number one so it means

[54:53] that the device ID of this device is the

[54:56] the device ID number one but you have

[54:58] you know 16 what is the meaning of this

[55:01] let's say that you have two different

[55:02] devices two different uh the launch pad

[55:05] launch pads and you want to use it

[55:08] within the same session within the same

[55:10] doll how can the doll recognize which

[55:12] device is which so if this one is the

[55:14] number one let's say that I use a

[55:16] different a different uh Launchpad I'm

[55:19] going to give it the ID of two so aun or

[55:22] whatever other da will be able to

[55:24] recognize the device you know BAS based

[55:26] on the ID of each device and you know

[55:29] that's pretty much it then at the bottom

[55:30] you have the brightness this is the

[55:32] normal I have it had it all the way down

[55:35] so it's pretty bright if you think about

[55:37] this and it's again completely up to you

[55:41] uh I'm going to keep it all the way down

[55:43] at the bottom you can this one if you

[55:45] press it is going to show you the boot

[55:47] loader version you know if you care

[55:49] about that then is going to show you the

[55:53] uh the application version now this this

[55:55] this one the botom if you press it it's

[55:57] going to exit the boot loader this menu

[56:00] and just you know go back to normal mode

[56:02] then the yellow one is the easy start so

[56:06] when you buy this and you connect it to

[56:07] your computer your computer will

[56:09] recognize this as a mass storage device

[56:12] and inside there if you go to the drive

[56:15] you have the access to the manuals and

[56:17] the quick start the application and

[56:19] everything else so that's why it's

[56:20] called easy start right so the thing is

[56:23] that after you uh learn how to use it uh

[56:26] you keep using it you don't need the

[56:28] easy start anymore so if you turn it off

[56:32] right so you just turn it off it's going

[56:34] to take a little just a little little

[56:36] little bit of time right so now it's off

[56:38] it will uh not appear anymore as a mass

[56:41] storage device so again if if you want

[56:43] to use this to turn it on but again once

[56:46] you understand how to use it and once

[56:48] you actively use use this device you

[56:51] don't need this feature and if I press

[56:54] this it's going to exit and and you know

[56:56] restart and go back to the normal mode

[56:59] and okay so we are done on this video uh

[57:02] the only thing I didn't cover is the

[57:04] sequencer right here and the projects

[57:07] I'm going to upload a video just

[57:08] covering the sequencer and the projects

[57:11] I guess I'm going to be uploading it

[57:13] maybe tomorrow or day after tomorrow uh

[57:16] okay so if you learned something new and
