[00:00] And something that Shane never gets
[00:02] And something that Shane never gets credit for, which I will always yell
[00:06] credit for, which I will always yell from a mountaintop, is he got fired
[00:09] from a mountaintop, is he got fired for a podcast clip.
[00:11] for a podcast clip.
[00:12] Yeah.
[00:12] And didn't lean into it.
[00:14] And didn't lean into it.
[00:15] I was going to tell you that is by far
[00:15] I was going to tell you that is by far my favorite thing about Shane and kind
[00:17] my favorite thing about Shane and kind of why I look up to him in certain ways
[00:19] of why I look up to him in certain ways is because a lot of people, they go
[00:21] is because a lot of people, they go through a public controversy or a
[00:22] through a public controversy or a scandal and then they make their whole
[00:24] scandal and then they make their whole life this like vendetta about like I am
[00:27] life this like vendetta about like I am the underdog, the righteous one who got
[00:29] the underdog, the righteous one who got done wrong.
[00:31] I'm a free speech lion and a guardian, you know, and then you have
[00:33] guardian, you know, and then you have people who are like, "Ah, that sucked.
[00:34] people who are like, "Ah, that sucked. I'm just going to keep pushing forward."
[00:36] I'm just going to keep pushing forward."
[00:36] In 2021, a satirical ad was made poking
[00:39] In 2021, a satirical ad was made poking fun at Joe Rogan.
[00:40] At the time, I remember thinking it was pretty funny
[00:42] because it was one of the first times
[00:44] because it was one of the first times seeing a pretty accurate reference of
[00:46] seeing a pretty accurate reference of Rogan's impact on some of his listeners.
[00:49] Rogan's impact on some of his listeners.
[00:49] You're having a reaction.
[00:51] Um, you going to be fine?
[00:54] Hold still.
[00:54] Wait, what brand heavy band is that?
[00:56] Wait, what brand heavy band is that?
[00:56] I don't know.
[00:59] What's in it?
[00:59] Medicine.
[01:01] Medicine.
[01:01] Medicine.
[01:03] Medicine.
[01:03] Alex recess for I don't know.
[01:04] I don't know.
[01:05] What are the stats from Europe?
[01:07] You could die.
[01:09] What does Joe Roen say?
[01:11] Call Joe.
[01:13] Then I was disappointed to see that he not only didn't find it funny, he was actually offended.
[01:17] He reposted it on his Instagram, bashing Australia and calling it propaganda, not realizing that yet another joke had gone over his head.
[01:24] This wasn't a real ad for vaccines.
[01:26] It was satire.
[01:28] But Rogan took it seriously and lashed out before his followers quickly pointed out that it was a joke.
[01:32] This ad sums up so much about Rogan's lack of sense of humor despite calling himself a comic and also just how sensitive he became during the peak of cancel culture.
[01:42] There were a few comedians who were caught up in the cancel culture wave.
[01:45] But I thought I'd take a look at Shane Gillis and Joe Rogan since they basically took the opposite approach to each other.
[01:50] One guy made it his whole personality, engaging in the culture war, specifically around cancel culture and free speech.
[01:57] The other chose not to take part and simply move on and reap the rewards of letting
[02:01] move on and reap the rewards of letting his talent speak for itself.
[02:03] Shane gets his talent speak for itself.
[02:03] Shane gets fired from SNL in 2019.
[02:06] At the time, he fired from SNL in 2019.
[02:06] At the time, he wasn't that wellknown, so this would have been a huge gig for him.
[02:09] And the fact that it was taken away so quickly must have hit hard.
[02:12] I'm sure there were a lot of people that that did that did bother them, of course.
[02:15] And again, I I also understood why they fired me.
[02:18] It's not like It's not like when I when I found out I was like, "What?
[02:22] How dare they?"
[02:24] I was like, "Yeah, makes sense."
[02:25] Yeah.
[02:25] Makes sense.
[02:27] Here's a video of me using a slur.
[02:27] It makes sense.
[02:29] Yeah.
[02:29] I don't love talking about cancel culture.
[02:32] Yeah.
[02:32] It's kind of I get No, no, no.
[02:33] Don't be sorry.
[02:33] I'm kind of I mean, I did it.
[02:35] I did it to myself.
[02:37] I'm sorry about that.
[02:38] I'm not worried about that.
[02:40] Uh I never really was.
[02:40] I never was like this is going to It'll always be part of my story.
[02:44] That's how I was introduced into the comedy world.
[02:49] Although Shane was obviously really upset, he pretty much has this stoic reaction to it.
[02:52] As if to say, "Of course, some people are going to be offended and there's going to be a price to pay for it."
[02:56] He understands why there's backlash and seems like he just wants to move on.
[02:59] Now comparing that to
[03:01] wants to move on.
[03:04] Now comparing that to Joe's reaction, media outlets and even Joe's reaction, media outlets and even Spotify employees tried to deplatform him during COVID over his content around vaccines.
[03:07] Spotify employees tried to deplatform him during COVID over his content around vaccines.
[03:09] But instead of staying level-headed, he started to talk more and more about the woke mob and the problem with mainstream media in almost every podcast for the next 5 years.
[03:11] vaccines. But instead of staying level-headed, he started to talk more and more about the woke mob and the problem with mainstream media in almost every podcast for the next 5 years.
[03:13] he started to talk more and more about the woke mob and the problem with mainstream media in almost every podcast for the next 5 years.
[03:15] and more about the woke mob and the problem with mainstream media in almost every podcast for the next 5 years.
[03:17] problem with mainstream media in almost every podcast for the next 5 years.
[03:20] every podcast for the next 5 years. Viewers quickly started to notice that, man, he talks about cancel culture a lot.
[03:21] Viewers quickly started to notice that, man, he talks about cancel culture a lot.
[03:24] man, he talks about cancel culture a lot. No matter who the guest was, Rogan would bring up the woke left and why they're a problem at least once during a podcast.
[03:26] lot. No matter who the guest was, Rogan would bring up the woke left and why they're a problem at least once during a podcast.
[03:28] would bring up the woke left and why they're a problem at least once during a podcast.
[03:30] they're a problem at least once during a podcast. It would be hard to find an episode in the last few years where the word woke isn't used at least once.
[03:31] podcast. It would be hard to find an episode in the last few years where the word woke isn't used at least once.
[03:33] episode in the last few years where the word woke isn't used at least once.
[03:36] word woke isn't used at least once. Dan Soda and journalist Andrew Callahan also spoke about this briefly a while back when reflecting on what cancellation culture did to Shane and Rogan.
[03:38] Soda and journalist Andrew Callahan also spoke about this briefly a while back when reflecting on what cancellation culture did to Shane and Rogan.
[03:40] spoke about this briefly a while back when reflecting on what cancellation culture did to Shane and Rogan.
[03:42] when reflecting on what cancellation culture did to Shane and Rogan.
[03:44] culture did to Shane and Rogan. Is it is a response to the mid teens. Absolutely.
[03:47] Is it is a response to the mid teens. Absolutely.
[03:47] Absolutely. When they were going like, "Fuck white dudes. We don't need white dudes. We don't need In fact, I would even go as far as to argue that's what made Joe Rogan rightwing." cuz you go back and you look you look at him in 2013 2014 he's saying a lot of liberal viewpoints
[03:49] When they were going like, "Fuck white dudes. We don't need white dudes. We don't need In fact, I would even go as far as to argue that's what made Joe Rogan rightwing." cuz you go back and you look you look at him in 2013 2014 he's saying a lot of liberal viewpoints
[03:51] dudes. We don't need white dudes. We don't need In fact, I would even go as far as to argue that's what made Joe Rogan rightwing." cuz you go back and you look you look at him in 2013 2014 he's saying a lot of liberal viewpoints
[03:52] don't need In fact, I would even go as far as to argue that's what made Joe Rogan rightwing." cuz you go back and you look you look at him in 2013 2014 he's saying a lot of liberal viewpoints
[03:54] far as to argue that's what made Joe Rogan rightwing." cuz you go back and you look you look at him in 2013 2014 he's saying a lot of liberal viewpoints
[03:56] Rogan rightwing." cuz you go back and you look you look at him in 2013 2014 he's saying a lot of liberal viewpoints
[03:59] you look you look at him in 2013 2014 he's saying a lot of liberal viewpoints
[04:02] he's saying a lot of liberal viewpoints about like tax the rich do this do that.
[04:05] about like tax the rich do this do that and then with co which hurt a lot of people's brains.
[04:08] and then with co which hurt a lot of people's brains I think they just like banged on him of like oh you don't believe in vaccines and just kept pushing him till finally he was like.
[04:11] banged on him of like oh you don't believe in vaccines and just kept pushing him till finally he was like.
[04:15] I love Trump Elon's the man.
[04:18] I love Trump Elon's the man Elon's not doing nothing shady and you're like that's wild and something that Shane never gets credit for which I will always yell from a mountaintop is he got fired for a podcast clip.
[04:19] Elon's not doing nothing shady and you're like that's wild and something that Shane never gets credit for which I will always yell from a mountaintop is he got fired for a podcast clip.
[04:24] will always yell from a mountaintop is he got fired for a podcast clip.
[04:30] for a podcast clip.
[04:31] Yeah.
[04:32] Yeah.
[04:34] And didn't lean into it.
[04:36] I was going to tell you that is by far my favorite thing about Shane and kind of why I look up to him in certain ways.
[04:38] my favorite thing about Shane and kind of why I look up to him in certain ways is because a lot of people they go through a public controversy or a scandal and then they make their whole life this like vendetta about like I am the underdog, the righteous one who got done wrong.
[04:40] is because a lot of people they go through a public controversy or a scandal and then they make their whole life this like vendetta about like I am the underdog, the righteous one who got done wrong.
[04:41] through a public controversy or a scandal and then they make their whole life this like vendetta about like I am the underdog, the righteous one who got done wrong.
[04:43] scandal and then they make their whole life this like vendetta about like I am the underdog, the righteous one who got done wrong.
[04:45] I am the underdog, the righteous one who got done wrong.
[04:47] done wrong. I'm a free speech lion and a guardian. You know what I mean?
[04:49] I'm a free speech lion and a guardian. You know what I mean?
[04:51] guardian. You know what I mean? And then you have people who are like, "Ah, that sucked. I'm just going to keep pushing forward and just keep doing their shit."
[04:53] And then you have people who are like, "Ah, that sucked. I'm just going to keep pushing forward and just keep doing their shit."
[04:54] you have people who are like, "Ah, that sucked. I'm just going to keep pushing forward and just keep doing their shit."
[04:55] sucked. I'm just going to keep pushing forward and just keep doing their shit.
[04:57] forward and just keep doing their shit.
[04:58] I watched him. I'm reading like a variety article before I call him. I'm like, "Dude, you're in trouble."
[05:00] variety article before I call him. I'm like, "Dude, you're in trouble."
[05:01] like, "Dude, you're in trouble."
[05:01] But he didn't do the thing where he was
[05:03] But he didn't do the thing where he was like, "They canceled me."
[05:05] And he like, "They canceled me."
[05:05] And he just went like, "You know what? I'm just going to go be funny.
[05:07] I'm going to go be funny.
[05:08] I'm going to go make my and I'll"
[05:10] And then he's hosting SNL again March 2nd.
[05:12] hosting SNL again March 2nd.
[05:12] Yeah.
[05:14] And there's a new pipeline now that I'm not sure was as prevalent then.
[05:16] But if you go through a public scandal of any kind, people the mainstream media tells you your career is over.
[05:18] But it actually means that you get to have a second career with like the worst people ever.
[05:20] But a lot of those like free speech movements, they do harvest anger after you when you're when you're in like a traumatic state.
[05:22] I remember somebody contacted me like to have you on and I was like I don't have any room.
[05:23] Truly glad that that did not happen cuz I would have come in emotional.
[05:25] I would have come in like guns blazing me isn't fair, you know?
[05:27] And and I never felt that way like the whole time I was like I kind of get it.
[05:29] It's ironic Shane describing exactly how he didn't want to react to this as if he knew it would be a bad road to take.
[05:30] Yet, the person sitting across the table did exactly that.
[05:31] And it's not just Rogan.
[05:33] You could argue that Tony Hinchcliffe did the same thing.
[05:34] He also had his canceled moment.
[05:36] And since then,
[06:03] had his canceled moment.
[06:05] And since then, it's like he's made it his mission to it's like he's made it his mission to let everyone know where he stands on Walt culture and why Trump is here to save free speech.
[06:09] Speaking about Trump, this of course fed into politics, which is where Shane made the decision not to get involved, particularly the past election where Rogan and his most loyal comics went all in on Trump.
[06:22] Even to this day, it's hard to make out where Shane sits politically since he constantly mocks both sides.
[06:27] I called Phil to be like, "Yo, you you hyped about your boy, your [ __ ] boy going to war with Iran.
[06:32] You [ __ ] hyped about it.
[06:34] Cuz I knew his I knew his tank.
[06:36] I knew what it was going to be.
[06:38] because he was like, "Oh yeah, Shane, would you want to [ __ ] get blown up?"
[06:42] And I was like, "By who?"
[06:44] He's like, "Iran.
[06:47] They can't have a nuke, Shane."
[06:47] And I was like, "Dude, I'm not going to get blown up.
[06:48] I might get blown up now.
[06:50] Now there could be a terrorist attack."
[06:52] He was like, "Yeah, cuz [ __ ] that idiot before Trump let all those [ __ ] terrorists into the country."
[06:57] Changes every four years.
[07:00] Thought Iran's nasty.
[07:01] I thought it was going to be like Vene Venezuela part two.
[07:03] It's like, "Bro, I
[07:06] Venezuela part two.
[07:06] It's like, "Bro, I thought we were big and bad.
[07:07] Dude, get that straight.
[07:07] Open it up.
[07:08] Open the straight.
[07:09] You'd think they would have responded nicely after we blew up their leader with a missile.
[07:14] You'd think they would be like, "All right, never mind.
[07:15] We don't want to [ __ ] with you guys.
[07:16] You blew up a 86-year-old with a tomahawk missile.
[07:19] On the flip side, we saw Rogan made the culture war and politics the main theme of his podcast, talking about this stuff religiously.
[07:27] However, Rogan would sometimes reveal why he became so popular in the first place by actually making a great point.
[07:32] You are not your ideas.
[07:32] You are not your opinions.
[07:35] These are just thoughts and if you identify with them, you are trapped in them and you you will be held hostage by them.
[07:43] You will try to defend them even if they don't make sense.
[07:46] Rogan should really hear what Rogan has to say about himself.
[07:48] Because he's one of the biggest victims of this.
[07:50] So much so that he often falls for unverified or fake news articles and even AI generated content.
[07:57] He sometimes brings it up to his guests as if it's factual.
[08:01] Jammy's compromised.
[08:02] Look at him dancing.
[08:03] That's I mean the that is so real J
[08:05] by the way if this was real he might
[08:06] by the way if this was real he might have won.
[08:07] have won.
[08:07] It's probably a real person.
[08:08] It might not be Tim Waltz.
[08:08] The Trump is AI generated slaps his ass.
[08:12] I mean that is hilarious.
[08:13] Oh definitely him.
[08:15] I Moore fell for an AI generated video of Minnesota.
[08:18] I fell for it too.
[08:20] And you know why I fell for it?
[08:22] Because I believe that he's capable of doing something.
[08:24] That's his essence.
[08:25] He's so weird.
[08:27] He's essentially saying that even though this is fake, I believe it could be real.
[08:29] Therefore, he doubles down on his initial point and simply moves on as if he didn't just find out that the video is fake.
[08:36] But the State of the Union was not live.
[08:38] And yes, it was.
[08:40] No.
[08:42] No.
[08:42] Did you see that they found out that it wasn't?
[08:43] No way.
[08:43] Yeah.
[08:45] Someone zoomed in on his watch and his watch was the wrong time.
[08:50] How could that even be?
[08:52] Well, it could be.
[08:52] He's blind.
[08:55] You can't see what time it
[08:58] I don't know what they knew. thing.
[09:00] State of the Union wasn't live.
[09:00] I added watch.
[09:02] It could be some troll
[09:02] Anything about that?
[09:03] They got me.
[09:03] Yeah,
[09:03] they could have got me.
[09:05] Well, there was no um Biden's watch.
[09:08] No, um, Biden's watch. Look at Biden's watch. Incorrect time.
[09:10] Look at Biden's watch. Incorrect time. State of the Union.
[09:11] State of the Union.
[09:13] No, President Biden's Oval Office dress wasn't pre-recorded.
[09:17] A fake image. Yeah, there is a fake image.
[09:18] They got me. These sons of [__].
[09:20] It's just amazing how much stuff is fake.
[09:22] Again, no apology that he's sharing fake stories since he's already committed to his beliefs.
[09:27] You are not your opinions.
[09:29] These are just thoughts and if you identify with them, you are trapped in them.
[09:34] You tell him, Joe.
[09:36] People rarely challenge Rogan on his show.
[09:38] So, you can imagine how many times he's brought up a fake article and he's put it out there to potentially millions of listeners.
[09:45] This is no longer the Rogan from 5 or 6 years ago.
[09:48] He doesn't seem even remotely objective anymore.
[09:50] He believes things because he just really wants it to be true.
[09:53] And even when he finds out that it's not, he presses his producer Jaime to prove that it's fake.
[09:58] Because whatever fake video that he's just watched fits the narrative that he believes.
[10:03] He endorsed Trump, then behaves like state sponsored media with having members from the administration deliver propaganda with little to no
[10:09] deliver propaganda with little to no push back.
[10:12] He had Cash Patel sit on his podcast with a straight face say that Epstein had no co-conspirators and there's no videos of anyone committing any crimes on Epstein Island.
[10:20] If there was a video of some guy or gal committing felonies on an island and I'm in charge, don't you think you'd see it?
[10:31] I think the reason Shane didn't take the same path as Rogan was maybe down to his lack of insecurities.
[10:35] A couple of years back, Shane appeared on this podcast and got into this bizarre standoff with one of the employees on the show.
[10:41] When you watch it back, a lot of people sided with Shane since the other guy was clearly the aggressor.
[10:48] It started out as a joke, which Shane didn't appreciate, but the guy ended up committing to this bit.
[10:52] You're We're fighting in line right now, and if you say it, I'm coming in there in 3 seconds and we're arresting.
[10:58] I don't care if you stand up or not.
[11:00] I'm taking you out.
[11:01] I'm tipping your chair over.
[11:03] Say your order.
[11:03] Here's my order.
[11:03] Yo, get fired. fired.
[11:08] Yo, I will make sure you don't work here
[11:11] Yo, I will make sure you don't work here anymore.
[11:12] anymore.
[11:12] Say your order.
[11:13] Say your order.
[11:13] He wants to wrestle now.
[11:17] He wants to wrestle now.
[11:17] Oh, no.
[11:19] Oh, no.
[11:19] No.
[11:20] No.
[11:20] No. No. No.
[11:21] No. No. No.
[11:21] Is this your office?
[11:22] Is this your office?
[11:22] No. Just say your order.
[11:23] No. Just say your order.
[11:23] Hold on.
[11:25] Are these your office workers?
[11:25] Say your order.
[11:26] Say your order.
[11:26] Make sure this office worker isn't trying to fight me right now.
[11:29] Make sure this office worker isn't trying to fight me right now.
[11:30] Say your order.
[11:30] Say your order.
[11:30] Like I'll do a podcast where I look like a dumbass.
[11:32] Like I'll do a podcast where I look like a dumbass.
[11:34] Shitfaced.
[11:34] I did that bar stool case race and took a week off after that.
[11:36] I did that bar stool case race and took a week off after that.
[11:38] Bar case race.
[11:39] Bar case race.
[11:39] They brought me on, you know, Ran from Barcel.
[11:41] They brought me on, you know, Ran from Barcel.
[11:41] Me and him were teammates.
[11:43] Me and him were teammates.
[11:43] We did a case race.
[11:45] We did a case race.
[11:45] See which team could finish 24 beers first.
[11:47] See which team could finish 24 beers first.
[11:48] I won.
[11:49] I won.
[11:49] I had 16 beers in an hour.
[11:52] I had 16 beers in an hour.
[11:52] And it was which is a heroic amount of beer.
[11:53] And it was which is a heroic amount of beer.
[11:55] It was a huge mistake.
[11:55] I got a fight with like a producer.
[11:57] I got a fight with like a producer.
[11:59] Yeah.
[11:59] He came out and stood over me.
[12:01] He came out and stood over me.
[12:01] I'll [ __ ] you up.
[12:02] I'll [ __ ] you up.
[12:02] What did he think was going to happen?
[12:03] What did he think was going to happen?
[12:03] and the producer when he pitched this idea.
[12:04] and the producer when he pitched this idea.
[12:06] I don't know.
[12:06] The show went exactly how we knew it would.
[12:07] The show went exactly how we knew it would.
[12:07] It was a disaster.
[12:09] It was a disaster.
[12:09] Everyone was screaming over each other.
[12:11] Everyone was screaming over each other.
[12:13] Everyone was shifted. Everybody that liked Bartool hated me.
[12:15] liked Bartool hated me.
[12:15] Nice.
[12:18] I woke up the next day with just like a thousand tweets like [ __ ] this guy.
[12:20] I got drunk and acted like a [ __ ]
[12:23] I'm remorseful.
[12:24] Yeah, it was great.
[12:26] It wasn't the best reaction from Shane.
[12:27] They both looked like an ass, but the other guy was way out of line.
[12:29] But despite this, when asked about what happened, his first sentence is, "I acted like a dickhead."
[12:31] Leaving out the fact that the producer was picking a fight with him the whole time.
[12:32] To Shane, it seems like being right doesn't seem that important.
[12:34] Since he's not driven by a large ego, he doesn't need to state for the record that he's not in the wrong.
[12:36] What matters to him is that he wasn't proud of how he reacted.
[12:38] Now, let's look at the other guy who takes himself seriously.
[12:40] We've seen Rogan in a number of heated exchanges on JRE, but there's been times when Rogan simply just doesn't want to be challenged on his point of view.
[12:42] There are certain diseases, pick up a history book, smallox, dtheria, mumps, looked at tetanis, polio, paralytic diseases.
[12:44] Have you ever polio?
[12:45] Please stop.
[12:47] This
[13:12] Have you ever polio?
[13:12] Please stop.
[13:12] This is a long conversation that we're not going to have on this podcast cuz I'm going to get angry because I've I've researched this for years, right?
[13:18] right?
[13:19] Let's just
[13:20] But you're not a scientist.
[13:22] I don't have to be a scientist to know this.
[13:22] Yes, you do.
[13:22] No.
[13:22] Sh.
[13:24] Brian, shut the up.
[13:25] up.
[13:26] Hold on.
[13:26] Joe.
[13:27] No, Brian.
[13:27] I don't want to do this.
[13:27] But it's not just about We're in the middle of a fight companion.
[13:28] It's annoying.
[13:30] All right.
[13:34] But but it's like I'm very worried when people vaccines.
[13:36] It sounds like he is.
[13:38] Brian, you don't know what the I'm saying.
[13:39] I'm saying.
[13:40] You don't.
[13:41] Callen's overarching point seems to be that, hey, at the end of the day, you're not a scientist, so you might not have the full understanding of the research you've been shown.
[13:43] that, hey, at the end of the day, you're not a scientist, so you might not have the full understanding of the research you've been shown.
[13:45] I don't know how Rogan just couldn't concede to that.
[13:47] Rogan has said plenty of times himself that he might not be the best source of information.
[13:49] information.
[13:50] I'm not a doctor.
[13:52] I'm a and I'm a cage fighting commentator who's a dirty stand-up comedian who just told you I'm drunk most of the time and I do testosterone and I smoke a lot of weed.
[13:54] But I'm not a respected source of information even for me.
[14:13] information even for me.
[14:15] This was 2021 in the early days of Rogan's psycho transformation.
[14:18] Rogan these days doesn't like to be wrong and it's a clear sign of his insecurity because his self-worth seems to be tied to his beliefs.
[14:25] Being wrong is a threat to who he is.
[14:28] Even if that vaccine video was real, it would still be a pretty funny roach that he could have just laughed off.
[14:31] We saw it with his move to Austin, constantly saying LA is hell on earth.
[14:37] And even though Shane joined the group of comics who moved to Austin, he doesn't feel the need to constantly praise it or [ __ ] on LA and actually seems to recoil anytime someone does that around him.
[14:47] Here he is with Australian comic James Macccan who seems to have bought into the idea that LA is now a hopeless city.
[14:53] There's a hopelessness out there.
[14:55] You got LA.
[14:57] You say, "What are the podcasts that you can go on here?
[14:59] They got nothing.
[15:00] They got the bad friends universe.
[15:01] No, there's a lot.
[15:02] There's a [ __ ] There's so many.
[15:04] LA and New York are doing great.
[15:04] No, New York's doing great on the podcast.
[15:05] LA If you're Bill Glassman's out there.
[15:09] Yes, that's number three.
[15:11] There's a lot.
[15:12] How many?
[15:13] Name a fourth.
[15:15] How many here?
[15:15] Now compare that to Rogan.
[15:17] On this episode, Mark and Shane Rogan.
[15:17] On this episode, Mark and Shane says one bad thing about Austin, and Rogan has to quickly divert the conversation to something bad about California.
[15:24] I got an Amber Alert today.
[15:25] Do you guys get that?
[15:27] Texas goes wild with Amber Alert.
[15:29] You know what I don't miss about depressing way to start?
[15:34] The forest fires.
[15:34] God forbid you say anything bad about Texas.
[15:38] If you do, he has to counter it with something even worse about California.
[15:40] You are not your opinions.
[15:42] These are just thoughts.
[15:45] And if you identify with them, you are trapped in them.
[15:47] Not sure he's listening to you, Joe.
[15:49] Even though Shane is partly based in Austin, he doesn't view it through the same roseinted glasses as Rogan and the rest of the guys who moved there.
[15:56] And we saw what the result of that was.
[15:58] The whole Austin comedy scene became redefined into this overblown rebellion against LA and the left and the woke mob and trans athletes.
[16:08] It turned into its own meme.
[16:10] Comedian Staros even had a label for it.
[16:11] That's where I land.
[16:13] You really have you have gotten like Austin trans brain.
[16:16] have gotten like Austin trans brain.
[16:18] Shane Gillis certainly was attacked by the media, but he didn't join the anti-woke crusade like Rogan.
[16:22] He instead focused on his comedy and allowed that to define his public image.
[16:26] Anytime someone tried to use Shane's cancelling as a reason to bash the left, Shane didn't want to take any part in it.
[16:32] It's like he recognized that it was becoming hacky.
[16:35] While Rogan, on the other hand, went allin.
[16:37] The end result of that seems to be him forever tied to a movement of free speech that had solid ground but then quickly became hacky and also now tied to a populist president that is no longer popular.
[16:48] If you enjoyed this, hit the like and subscribe.
[16:51] It really helps out the channel, man.
