[00:01] Welcome to module one, semiconductor fundamentals and wafer manufacturing.
[00:06] I am Lian Angelico or L.A. De Pante and I'm a scholar of the semiconductor industry.
[00:12] And together with Professor Tsai, I'll be one of the facilitators for this course.
[00:17] For this week, our module will provide an overview of the semiconductor industry with a particular focus on Taiwan and the Philippines while introducing us to the fundamental concepts of semiconductor manufacturing.
[00:31] In doing so, we hope to gain an appreciation and understanding of the critical role of these tiny high-tech commodities that serve as the foundation of the.
[00:44] By the end of this module, we expect learners to first narrate the historical development and describe the current status of the semiconductor industries both in Taiwan and the Philippines including their roles within the global semiconductor value chain.
[01:01] And secondly, explain the fundamental properties and classifications of semiconductor materials used in the industry.
[01:11] Learners will demonstrate their understanding of semiconductor fundamentals and manufacturing as well as that of the industry and its history through various quizzes and learning activities.
[01:22] We wish you all the best in this learning journey.
[01:24] Good luck and Jiao.
