https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgUfnpUe9_s

[00:00] Salam and good afternoon everyone.
[00:02] We are from group four and the topic of our idea patron is mental health among university students.
[00:09] My name is Taiian and first of all I wouldn't be the one who start first.
[00:14] As a world healthy of the nation once point out there can be no true health without mental health.
[00:19] According to the WHO one in seven people age 10 to 19 experience a mental health condition.
[00:25] In today's society, many university students are quietly during stress, anxiety, and even depression.
[00:32] For them, seeking help is not easy.
[00:34] Some school psychological counseling sentence are only open twice a week.
[00:38] And one counselor had to deal with thousands of students, which far exceed the retail stupulated by a national standard, which is one counselor for every 300 to 500 students.
[00:49] Therefore, the issue of mental health among university students is no longer murder personal problems.
[00:54] It has become an important topic for the country and policies.
[00:56] As aware, Malaysia
[01:01] wants to build a smart and innovative nations through high education.
[01:06] But right now, our system cares much more about exam results, ranking and publications than students mental health.
[01:13] In many universities, counselor service are still treated like something optional because each university handles this on its own.
[01:21] Support is inconident and often not enough.
[01:26] The problem isn't the people don't know mental health is important.
[01:28] Everyone knows it.
[01:31] The real issue is that we don't have a nation policy without clear guidance.
[01:36] Many students continue to struggle in silence without prop help.
[01:38] If we don't act now, we will see more dropouts, more long-term mental health problems and more preventable strategies.
[01:48] So my proposal is simple.
[01:51] Men has support for university students should be right into national higher education policy and protect by law.
[01:57] The government should take some action which can create a rules that requires every university to
[02:02] provide mental health support.
[02:04] The implementation includes allocating funds and hair trended counselors, setting fixed counseling hours on campus and making sure students can either reach this service.
[02:17] With this policy, manner hair support becomes a granted system.
[02:20] This solution is flexible because university already have counseling rooms.
[02:24] We just need to strain them and stalize what is already there.
[02:28] It is careable because once a national policy is created, the same standards can be applied to every university no matter size or location.
[02:38] And it is sustainable since early support prevents small issues from being serious which reduce future medical, social and economical clusters.
[02:49] The unical selling position of this idea is that it transforms manner health sports from a voluntary service into a legally protected national standard.
[02:56] And this ensures equal access for all students and helps them stay in school, perform better and grow into a
[03:03] healthier and more resilient future workforce.
[03:06] We should care about students not only for their grades but also for their well-being.
[03:13] Let's support a national mental health policy in high education because a mentally healthy student help create a mentally healthy nation.
[03:19] Let's welcome the next speaker for here.
[03:24] All right.
[03:24] I like to share some opinions from the economic perspectives.
[03:26] Imagine losing thousands of talented university graduates every year.
[03:32] Not because they lack skills, but because they silently struggle with mental health issues.
[03:37] This struggle often remain unseen.
[03:40] Yet they result in real economic loss that affect not just individuals but also our future workforce and national productivity.
[03:52] Today, many university students experience stress, anxiety or depression.
[03:57] However, because of stigma, they hasty to seek help.
[04:00] At the same time, consoling services on campus are
[04:06] Often refundable and the mental health programs are seen as optional rather than essential.
[04:11] This lead to lower academic performance, increase the dropout rates, and the long-term consequences for both students and the economy.
[04:21] The economy impact of untreated mental health issue is significant.
[04:24] When students cannot access help early, they struggle academically and become less prepared for future employment.
[04:35] Over time, this increase health care cost and reduce overall productivity.
[04:39] If nothing changes, universities and society will continue to bear the long-term financial burden of this preventable problem.
[04:52] From an economic perspective, our idea is to treat campus mental health program as a long-term investment, not just a cost.
[05:00] First, we struggle a government university co-founder plan by sharing
[05:07] The costs.
[05:11] Universities can help uh consoling uh survey and peer support group and awareness program running steadily without worrying about limited budget.
[05:19] Secondly, we recommend giving small intensive to students who join the workshop or pair support activity such as credit, certificates or simple rewards.
[05:32] This encourages student to seek help early and make mental health discussions more normal on campus.
[05:40] Thirdly, universities should collect basic data on attendance, academic results, and the graduate outcomes to show that investing in mental health bring real economic benefits.
[05:54] It improves that supporting students now help build a stronger workforce later.
[06:01] Overall, this co-ounding model saves a long-term health care cost, improves students retention, and build a
[06:09] healthier, more productive students community.
[06:11] Mental health support is an investment that benefit both students and the whole economy.
[06:16] So, let's choose to invest in the mind that will shape our future.
[06:22] University policy maker and the industry leader must work together to find and support long-term mental health program.
[06:31] Early investment protect students, strengthen our workforce and ensure a healthier, more productive society.
[06:40] Now is the time to act.
[06:43] Well, let's welcome next speaker to share some ideas.
[06:48] All right.
[06:48] From a social perspective that is imagine walking into a university campus you can see student laughing and chatting or studying hardily in the library everything seems normal right however many students are battle anxiety long night and even depression in effect the world healthy
[07:10] organization reports that one in seven young people have mental healthy problems.
[07:17] sadly most of them do not receive the help they need and many students face immersion pressure from grades, financing and social interactions.
[07:30] In Malaysia, mental healthy issue amongst university students are increasingly serviced yet often overlooked.
[07:39] Mental health is not viewed correctly.
[07:42] Therefore, many students choose slice.
[07:45] They are unwilling to speak out with about their strong goals.
[07:51] They they feel judgment when society ignore mental healthy issue.
[07:55] The consequence can be dire.
[07:58] Student begin to elate themselves.
[08:02] Their grades decline and they lose self-confidence.
[08:06] It can be even affect their cancel and relationships.
[08:10] If we do not act, students may suffer, unable to reach their full potential.
[08:20] So, what can we as members of society do?
[08:23] First, we need to change our perception of mental health.
[08:29] Mental health is not a sign of weakness but a part of being human.
[08:35] We need to make discussion of mental health as complex as we discussed physical health.
[08:41] Secondly, we need to raise public awareness through campaigns, workshops, and social media.
[08:46] We can empower people to seek help openly.
[08:49] Finally, families, uh, teachers, and friends should be ready to listen without judgment.
[08:56] Each of us can reach out to those going through difficult times.
[09:02] When we create a society filled with empathy and understanding, students will feel safe enough to ask for help.
[09:12] So what can we do now?
[09:15] Let's start with kindness and listening.
[09:18] If you find someone's judge, do not remain slight.
[09:21] Ask them how they have been and build a normal judgmental supportive society together.
[09:27] Because when students feel supported, they not only become stronger, but our enter community become healthy and happier.
[09:40] Let's welcome next speaker.
[09:43] Okay, thank you.
[09:45] So I'm going to talk about this problem in education perspective.
[09:50] Imagine when you are walking into a classroom every morning um there are hundreds of students in the classroom but most of the time you feel it's lonely and quiet.
[09:57] Recent study shows that there are like nearly one in three universities students report the problem of anxiety and depressions.
[10:09] University life is always described as the most exciting chapter in life.
[10:12] Yes,
[10:15] Imagination is very nice.
[10:18] However, behind this exciting chapter, there are some problems we don't know which is the students mental health such as some pressure from academic finer stress and socialization.
[10:30] Many universities they only provide um academic support but they don't give them emotional and psychological support.
[10:42] This problem is lack of mental health and the educational experiences.
[10:49] It it will bring some negative effect for the college students.
[10:54] If nothing's done, we could just end up with a generation of graduations who are smart and skills but emotionally down.
[11:00] So people are supposed to enjoy life.
[11:03] That is why it is so significant for us to make sure education doesn't just focus on grades, GPA.
[11:11] It should also focus on the students mental health and emotions.
[11:18] In my opinion, we should take some actions.
[11:20] We should use solutions which is the well-being integration program also known as the WIP.
[11:30] The rent should be um universitywide plan.
[11:33] This means adding some short well-being session in the first year.
[11:35] Universities should offer psychological support and peer support.
[11:42] Not only that, they should also train the lectures to observe early signs of depressions and the lectures should also be friendly to the students.
[11:50] You know, give them some chances to show themsel in class.
[11:55] Don't push them too much.
[11:58] Universities, faculties, students group and lectures, they can all work together and prevent mental health issue happen by making well-being part of education itself.
[12:09] The students can ask for help earlier too.
[12:12] The students should learn how to manage their own emotions.
[12:15] Unlike traditional
[12:20] programs.
[12:21] WIP is proactive, not reactive.
[12:25] It can help the students to perform better and build stronger communications.
[12:31] So people that's make the universities not just a place to earn degrees but also a place to grow up healthy balanced individuals.
[12:40] Everyone should have a good mental health.
[12:43] So let's help and comfort each other if they're frustrated or stressed.
[12:48] And that's all about our presentations.
[12:50] Thank you for listening and watching.
