[00:00] Because I can see the logic for keeping Woxic.

[00:01] Just in this market.

[00:03] Like even someone like Gregs, I just look at it and just like, does he have the understanding and the personality to kind of be an improvement to a team that's already going to be juggling a lot of things at once?

[00:14] Like if I change Woxic, I want it to be for someone like Malody.

[00:15] I want it to be on that level of kind of explosive.

[00:18] It needs to be that star player for the next 5 years, basically.

[00:22] Aurora fans come here and note this week, he's actually in Turkey, ironically, fixing his hairline.

[00:30] So, uh, swift recovery to note.

[00:32] Hopefully, it's uh, you know, but it's on theme because of course we're doing Aurora, Turkish team, no longer a Turkish team.

[00:40] And for that, I've got Robu with me, who's just done a very good interview with Jimmy that people should check out after finishing this show, uh, if they speak Finnish, um, of course.

[00:49] Sorry, if you can read.

[00:51] There are some options.

[00:53] Reading's important.

[00:55] Uh, and Yumi, of course.

[00:57] So, got a bit of a dream team, but so let's get into it.

[00:59] What are your kind of initial thoughts?

[01:00] So, you were you happy?

[01:00] For Jimmy, Robi?

[01:03] Yes, well, sort of.

[01:03] I mean, what could have been?

[01:07] I feel like Jimmy could have ended up in a better team maybe a year ago or so.

[01:13] Vitality, Falcons were on the table, but as I've heard, there are some other options that were available for Jimmy.
  Vitality、Falcons

[01:21] This was the best I feel like he could have ended up on and I think there's a pretty bright future for Aurora here.

[01:28] Mhm.

[01:28] It's good timing, but what about Jimmy?

[01:30] Yeah, I mean, Aurora it's weird because I don't even think they were that bad this year, but they definitely weren't I mean, they're not like a proper title contender, not for tournaments where like the legitimate top five or top six are actually in attendance.

[01:46] But it's been better than some of the previous years.

[01:46] So, the timing feels a little weird to me, but it might have just felt like I mean, after I remember at the end of the day, these guys are competitors.

[01:55] People hate stagnation.

[01:57] All competitors hate stagnation.

[01:58] It's why Mouse will make changes.

[01:58] It's why Aurora will make changes.

[02:00] They don't feel like

[02:02] They can take that next step, and so yeah, I mean, it's cool Jimmy has this opportunity.

[02:08] Um, but I don't even think he's like the most important piece for why I might believe in Aurora moving forward.

[02:15] Okay, we'll get into it.

[02:17] It's the, I find it's the funny thing, isn't it, when it's not just the players as well, it's the management who are kind of impatient.

[02:23] And I think from what they've been saying on confirmed and the reports I've been reading, Aurora one of the very few orgs in CS who can spend money because obviously we don't know about the major kind of the sticker money, whatever.

[02:33] So, if you're one of the very few people that kind of can play around in the market that is very tough for everyone else, I think it's why not flex with that muscle and actually use it?

[02:41] Cuz when you're a national team, like it's just there's no point being a really rich org in the national scene where there's only one top team, right?

[02:48] Like I feel like that is part of this as well.

[02:49] Listen, if people had any doubts about Aurora having money, they just signed Conor McGregor weirdly to the team.

[02:55] So, I don't know what's going on with this organization, really, but I mean, I guess they have that kind of money to throw around.

[03:01] Yeah, EWC is widening.

[03:04] Uh of course, we always do a meme slide.

[03:06] It's, as ever, it's not my finest work.

[03:08] I say that every week.

[03:09] I don't know what is my finest work, but, but it's...

[03:12] Go, go, go back to the Star Wars, 'cause he'd be pretty upset if you were imagine here.

[03:15] I know there's obviously burnout, etc., that that was going on, but these...

[03:20] This was one of the teams that I really didn't expect to go international till the rumors started cropping up, 'cause it felt like...

[03:26] I don't know, if you're a Mongols type team or whatever, like you're quite happy if you're in the top 10 making playoffs all the time, like flying to fly for your country.

[03:34] That feels like a kind of, like obviously it's not the peak of a professional's career, but it's pretty, it's pretty good.

[03:39] Like if you're, you're in your nation's best team, but did that, did it surprise you?

[03:43] I mean, I mean, the Mongols, the team name is the Mongols, and they're from Mongolia.

[03:49] Aurora, I don't know what ties do they really have to Turkey except for...

[03:54] The Turkish team Eternal Fire was just a good, good team to pick up at that point in time, but I feel like Aurora has looked around.

[04:01] They tried Soul Fly here in, in, in instead of Joe Dot and...

[04:06] After that, like what could you even do?

[04:08] Like X Cloud was out there, but would he change the trajectory of Aurora drastically?

[04:14] I don't really think so.

[04:17] So I think this is just um, um, looking into the future type of a bit from Aurora, because there's no future with this Turkish team.

[04:28] I'm sorry to say for all the Turkish fans.

[04:31] Listen, I know I personally have kind of been disgruntled with Aurora, mainly because they've kept on beating the dead horse.

[04:38] Like Zentaurus is one of the best Turkish players we're probably ever going to see from the region.

[04:43] But also he now is becoming, in my eyes, just a bit of a bottleneck.

[04:49] And in a way, I would like to have seen this team develop in a way that goes: Wikadi is prioritized, Joe Dot is prioritized, X Cloud is prioritized, Soul Fly is prioritized.

[05:00] In terms of riflers, I actually think there are good Turkish riflers that exist out there that may not necessarily include...

[05:06] Zentaurus cuz they have a more complete understanding of the game.
  Zentaurus，

[05:10] They don't just brute force brawl their way through their engagements.

[05:16] Zentaurus even when he played on Big was still the Ansi I want to do things player all of the time.

[05:22] So if you can't even beat that tendency out of him, maybe you don't want to because he's just such an explosive player.

[05:28] But if you can't even beat that tendency out of him in a big clan, you're never going to succeed at doing it when it's a full Turkish roster.

[05:35] So I almost wanted these more versatile pieces to see what you know, someone like Majer or maybe if Woxic takes up in-game leading again could do with those types of players.

[05:45] Cuz listen, I'm not going to say I want Woxic as an in-game leader, but in terms of all players in the Turkish region, I don't think there are many that could replace Woxic.

[05:54] But I think there are riflers that could take Santorin's position.

[05:58] Yeah, but if Aurora wants to win tournaments, I think they do based on these decisions they've made it like there was just no future with Turkish lineups.

[06:06] Um

[06:08] I even though maybe a sports romantic would like to see national teams, it's it's just not realistic.

[06:15] Yeah, I think it's always the thing with national teams is you kind of you're you're dealing with various bottlenecks.

[06:21] Like I think I obviously Striker said on the confirm the other day he thinks Santorin is probably going to have to go at some point because of the player issues which we will get into, but but you look at his value and you think about some of the criticism Majer has come under for the kind of simplistic calling.

[06:34] Like and then he says, "Well, it's the players I've got. I have to call this way."

[06:36] So I think it's going to be really interesting to see kind of if that if that is the calling cuz I think I saw even some people saying like maybe Santorin should I join.

[06:43] Like that was the that was the way to get a rifler in.

[06:47] It's just like you're you're really looking to try to solve so many issues at once with a national team.

[06:51] That's even worse than suggesting Woxic as an in-game leader actually, so [laughter]

[06:54] But this is what I mean like who else who else are you going to going to pluck out of like even these like Sangal teams or whatever they have different different people, right?

[07:01] They have international in-game leaders all the time.

[07:03] Did Did Majer actually say that that he It's like, "Oh, these are the players I have. This is kind of how we have to play."

[07:08] I can't remember exactly which interview

[07:09] He said it, but I think he said that his style suited.

[07:12] Sure.

[07:13] The personnel he had because I think a lot of it is also down to they're not signing like natural anchor lurker players.

[07:19] And I think this is going to be interesting to see with Jimmy because Soul fly and Jota did not want to be in these roles, right?

[07:24] So it makes sense to play 4-1 with them.

[07:26] Yeah, I think it's surprising, I mean, it's surprising if he's come out in an interview and said something like that because it's a suspicion I've always had and it's something I always attribute to in-game leaders.

[07:34] You know, in-game leaders are under a lot of scrutiny.

[07:38] Listen, these guys read those comments.

[07:40] They're not stupid as well.

[07:42] Like they take up an in-game leader role because I understand that there's a responsibility that comes with that.

[07:46] You know, when you saw someone like Nafany or someone like Art or in this case Major, when you see them play this very simplistic style and it doesn't develop, you know, you don't see layers being added as they continue to make it into events in a legitimate top 10, then it's not usually because of them.

[08:05] Like there are other influences that happen on the team.

[08:08] These in-game leaders are not going to just take the criticism.

[08:10] Idly by and just go, "Ah, none of these people know what we're talking about.

[08:13] I actually have the best vision of the game and it is actually just let's just kill people Counter-Strike."

[08:18] They're not stupid.

[08:19] Like these people are not stupid.

[08:21] It's usually outstanding factors.

[08:24] And you know, that whether that's Axile and shiro or whether that's uh you know, Karrigan and Yatoro Yuri how to best set up these types of players.

[08:32] I think there is some responsibility that's distributed amongst the team.

[08:35] Unfortunately, the in-game leader is the lightning rod for a lot of criticism.

[08:39] Do you think he was hot by then?

[08:40] Would you have gotten rid of Zontar and Soulfly if you're doing this international?

[08:43] I think I would have been I guess I maybe I'm still interested to see whether Major has a tactical layer to him that he actually does want to display because I think listen, he can go to a French-speaking team.

[08:54] He can go to an English-speaking team.

[08:55] He can go to I mean, if he wants to do that, you know, he has a kid.

[08:59] He often was the one that was also going out in interviews saying that they're homesick and you know, the travels kind of getting to them.

[09:06] So, maybe to tweet afterwards every time saying that he's tired.

[09:08] Maybe he's going to hang up the mouse.

[09:10] I don't know, but I always am interested in sort of the redemption arc journey that these in-game leaders could go on.

[09:19] Because when Nafany first joined BetBoom, the style was completely different.

[09:22] Like they played more execute heavy, less defaults, less like waiting and not using utility.

[09:28] They actually played a different style when he wasn't playing with Axile, shiro, Hobbit, for example.

[09:34] So, yeah.

[09:35] I guess I would like to see a redemption arc like that, but who's to say it will ever happen.

[09:39] Yeah, I think it's interesting to put I want to bring you into this rather as well because I think it's a very big thing from some of the data guys in football is that basically managers in football kind of are there to be sacked.

[09:51] And it's actually you look at it and it's so much more about the players than anything else and the squad building and the profiles you set up because managers like you were saying like managers and in-game leaders in CS are smart and they can adapt to the pieces they've got.

[10:04] So really in-game leaders are kind of just the lightning rod as you said.

[10:08] Like did you think that do you think that's an element here?

[10:12] I mean sure.

[10:14] I mean sure if we're thinking about what more could this lineup what could they have done?

[10:20] Could they have achieved more?

[10:21] But I honestly think like they reached their ceiling.

[10:24] We've seen it throughout the years here.

[10:27] They've had some times in Eternal Fire where they've made some good playoff runs, but the ceiling has always been there.

[10:33] Like they weren't a team that could win tournaments or even top four place things.

[10:39] Well, in the major they made a top four, but through a pretty easy quarterfinal.

[10:44] So I don't know.

[10:48] I'm just not very interested in major or or so far.

[10:50] I just want to get into this new squad here.

[10:52] So let's just say then because I think first of all whoever's done this has nailed the roles.

[10:57] Like just job one no one's going to be uncomfortable in this team.

[11:00] Like I think it's really good to have Jimmy to play some of these spots and also get an in-game leader that isn't one of those who's going to be like I need to play connector because I think that's an easy mistake that like Liquid made with Shox right where they just had three people who were all want to play rotate spots.

[11:12] So this is job one ticked off.

[11:16] Yeah.

[11:16] Yeah, good job on that front.

[11:18] I think these these player additions are very interesting because I think they're pretty big upgrades like Jame played in these anchor roles.

[11:28] I've got a lot to say about him and I I he's he's pretty much quite of a unicorn player.

[11:33] I don't know if you Harry would agree with that because there there just aren't really players who play all the bad roles.

[11:39] Like that really does doesn't exist.

[11:41] It's mostly down to the in-game leaders maybe taking all the all the bad spots like Alex be on on Na'Vi doing that.

[11:48] But you don't really have dedicated players who for some reason I I don't know what what what's gone wrong in Jimmiz head where he wants to play these positions that everybody hates like Mirage B or or or or Inferno or to?

[12:03] Cuz didn't he play star roles Mouse NXT like years ago?

[12:04] Yeah.

[12:04] Yeah, he he has played better roles also.

[12:07] But what I've gathered from him I've never heard him complain about his roles or saying that he doesn't like playing

[12:13] So I feel like that's that's what he likes to do and I'd be pretty surprised if anything changes here if kicks and takes a bad spot like a Mirage B.

[12:22] I'd be like very very surprised.

[12:25] But overall these are these are pretty big upgrades but not in the star positions which if we take a macro view for a second here, I don't think in the short-term future Aurora will be reaching much better levels.

[12:39] But again, this is about the future and at some point replacing Woxic replacing Zontarez.

[12:46] I'm sure we might get into that later.

[12:47] Listen, there's no greater dopamine rush than being the last guy alive clutching a 1v3 or or getting a or getting a two or three K on your site hold for example.

[12:58] I I do think there are certain players that are wired for that dopamine rush of just Listen, I may not I may not do something for most of the game.

[13:03] But when it's when it comes my time, this is these are going to be my moments.

[13:08] Um and yeah, Jimmiz seems to be hardwired that way.

[13:12] I I do think the I mean positionally I agree these these changes

[13:13] Are nice.

[13:16] I actually think the greater change is really just going to be about how the approach shifts for these players.

[13:23] I mean, I'm sure we'll get into coaching later on.

[13:26] Um, but I imagine the style is going to change quite dramatically, and it's because of someone like Ash.

[13:34] You know, if he can save Rez from internal damnation, maybe he can screw Zantares's head on straight.

[13:42] Because my main problem with the war in these past maybe 18 months was just the deterioration of their mental.

[13:49] There was a real resilience, I think, to Zantares and Woxic.

[13:54] There's a cool-headedness in a weird way when they were on the climb up.

[13:57] But, once they got there, these guys tilted so rapidly out of games.

[14:02] You would see Zantares start zero and six, and every time it panned to his camera, he'd just be infuriated.

[14:07] Like heavy breathing, slamming mice, everything.

[14:10] And I
  而我

[14:14] Understand that's maybe part of the flare or the passion of the game, but you don't want your veterans to be like that when your rookies are the ones that seem to keep their cool the most.

[14:26] You know, when Vakabie or Soul Flay or X Floud or or Joto were on the team, these guys weren't the ones that were causing problems on the mental front.

[14:35] It was typically the old dogs that seemingly couldn't learn new tricks.

[14:39] Yeah, I think it, I mean, it's for Kickstart it's out of the fire and then into the frying pan.

[14:44] Wrong way around.

[14:44] Out of the frying pan into the fire.

[14:46] So, it's but, also I think it's a really good point about Ash specifically because this is a guy who would always try and pick up like the academy kids and not the face it kids.

[14:54] Like a deliberate ploy to get players who were kind of coached early in their career and didn't develop the bad habits that like a player like Zantares is like the those bad habits are just not going to go.

[15:05] He's 30.

[15:05] Like it's he is going to be a tilter.

[15:07] And I think it's going to be really interesting to see Ash deal with kind of a player of that gravitas as well.

[15:12] Especially if the form it doesn't recover with this injury.

[15:14] And all everything that's going on.

[15:16] Yeah, it's a very much a different type of role for Ash.

[15:20] Like we've waited for it feels like years now to see him coaching a good team or like a team that could be on an elite level, which Gamer Legion never really was that.

[15:29] And it's a different set of expectations also for Ash, because now he has those expectations.

[15:36] Nobody ever really expected anything of Gamer Legion.

[15:40] Anything that Gamer Legion achieved was a bonus.
  Gamer Legion

[15:43] Oh, they made the major play-offs.

[15:44] They made the major final.

[15:47] Like, amazing.

[15:47] Amazing.

[15:48] And then when they maybe fell off for a couple of months, maybe some people in corners of the internet scrutinized him a little bit, but it was very minimal, I feel like.

[15:57] But now, as we've talked about oRaora already and their aspirations of winning tournaments, it's a different environment for Ash, but also kind of a perfect project for him, because even though there are those expectations, it's not like he's joining Falcons or Vitality.

[16:13] Um, I think there's a lot of upside.

[16:15] For for Ash here.

[16:17] It's also I think there's also I mean,

[16:19] Just piggybacking off your your point there, Raboo.

[16:22] You know, in terms of expectation shifting, sure, that that is very very true.

[16:26] You know, we love archetypes in in sports or we like archetypes in esports as well, where, you know, having a plucky underdog, you know, it's nice to say, "Oh, look at these guys go.

[16:34] They're so cool.

[16:35] They're so interesting.

[16:37] But we don't expect them to ever win anything.

[16:38] The expectation will be that this team improves with Ash.

[16:42] Um with the amount of positive PR that he has, being a content creator, someone that, you know, worked the major on the desk as well, an analyst that is quite intelligent and someone that can uh you know, read macro quite quite intelligently, they are expecting things to improve.

[16:58] But I also don't I also foresee that if Zentara's form continues to deteriorate or takes a sharp decline for whatever reason, maybe the style is different, he's uncomfortable, he will be heavily scrutinized.

[17:11] He will be he he will be the lightning rod more

[17:16] So than Kixstar, because Kicksan just came off of the Falcons, where they're playing a loose style, actually pretty not too dissimilar, but maybe a little bit more structured than what Aurora had been doing.

[17:26] And people I don't think will blame Kicksan for that.

[17:28] They'll blame Ash if things start to slow down, be more anti-strat, and they don't see results, you know, they're if once you're changing the system, you're the problem in most people's eyes if things continue to kind of fall from expectations.

[17:47] Yeah, I think it's definitely that thing where any coach that kind of takes a step up to a bigger team, like it's always a gamble.

[17:54] And that doesn't mean you should never take the gamble and try and base off what you do know about a coach, but I think the other thing for Ash is just the emotional management.

[18:02] Like if whenever you spoke to one of Game Legion's like young players, they were always very, very you know, happy with how Ash could manage a team in that way.

[18:10] And I think, you know, like you've just got to look at it and say, "Yes, it's the YouTube channel, but whatever, but he does have all the traits of a top coach."

[18:17] He has been praised by his players, kind of not leading questions.

[18:22] He's been praised for all the things that you'd want out of a top coach.

[18:24] I think him and Sora in that period did kind of show that they deserve to step up, at least.

[18:28] And I mean, we've seen with Sora in G2, it's not always easy, especially without resources, but it's the same thing here.

[18:35] He's actually got a team that's going to pay him on time, first of all.

[18:38] He won't have to sacrifice his salary to give to the players.

[18:40] So, that's stress off his back.

[18:43] And just actually got a chance to show how good he is.

[18:46] I think there's also the element of, you know, once he left Game Legion, things were a little rocky for some time, but then, Game Legion without him played a little bit more loose, won an IEM at Lan- or came to they went to the final rather in IEM Atlanta, didn't win.

[19:00] Sustainable form, of course.

[19:02] Oh, yeah, of course.

[19:04] And you know, maybe had the fall off at the major, sure, but there has been an opening up of the players within that Game Legion are also like they're playing more liberally, they're taking more risks, and they're being rewarded for some of that.

[19:17] And it's, you know, under Ash, those players didn't

[19:19] Make those same types of decisions, maybe because it was too structured.

[19:22] So, I think there is a criticism that you could levy at Ash in that maybe he's overloading his players with prep work.

[19:29] Maybe he's overloading them uh in terms of the things they have to think about and risk assessment and management instead of necessarily trusting that these players will, you know, grasp these moments with their instincts.

[19:40] Yeah, but that was with a dif- different set of players, too, which you have to have to coach you like if you have the ZTRs or the Hypixes or the Curzies Slends Vaults Flomzies of the world and those like you have to micromanage them.

[19:54] You have to get give give you them a set idea of plans of how to approach rounds, but now he has some star power that he has not been able to coach before, so that's a different environment for Ash.

[20:05] But I But I think it's I think it's important as well because, you know, you look at someone like Spirit, I think Hallie is fairly similar.

[20:10] You know, it was someone that tried to whip the team into shape, but he had almost I think he was whipping them a little too much because everyone was suddenly just like never making a move instead of trusting a read.

[20:21] or trusting information they had on the

[20:23] map. I think there is something to be

[20:25] said about giving a little bit more

[20:27] freedom. You know, I think for for Ash,

[20:30] he might have to learn to loosen his

[20:31] grip a little bit um in certain moments

[20:34] to make sure that as Antares or Walkz

[20:36] can still feel like they can make these

[20:37] types of plays that get them into the

[20:39] flow of the game.

[20:41] Mhm. Well, he's going to have to cuz

[20:42] Overpass is gone and they're just going

[20:43] to be playing Cache with Antares just

[20:45] swinging everything. So,

[20:46] Hell, yeah.

[20:47] it's going to have to be have to be

[20:48] somewhat. But yeah, we we've gone over

[20:50] the roles a bit, but I also wanted to

[20:52] wonder what you guys think about the

[20:54] actual profiles because, like I said,

[20:56] Sofiane was like he's playing star roles

[20:58] 6 months ago, and he was doing very well

[20:59] as an anchor, I thought, considering

[21:01] the kind of lack of experience he had.

[21:03] He's a very, very different player to

[21:05] Jimmy.

[21:06] So, he's going to come in, and then

[21:07] obviously we know what measure was like.

[21:09] He was throwing all the utility all the

[21:10] time.

[21:12] And then Soul fly was bonsai entering

[21:13] with Zontarez being able to trade. Like

[21:15] what how do you think this is going to

[21:17] work

[21:18] Yeah.

[21:18] in the new lineup in terms of bonsai

[21:19] entering?

[21:20] Yeah, I I've got something on this cuz

[21:22] this is also something that I've I've

[21:24] thought about and I looked at the T side

[21:27] entry attempts for all these five

[21:29] players that will be in this new Aurora

[21:31] lineup that that Turkish score and Jimmy

[21:33] [clears throat] and Kicks and and if you

[21:35] add up their

[21:37] entry or opening attempts on T side you

[21:39] get a something like 88% so

[21:42] that leaves 12% of the pie to be filled

[21:44] up by by someone. Someone has to be a

[21:46] little bit more aggressive and

[21:48] it can't be Zontarez because he's close

[21:50] to that 30% entry attempt rate.

[21:53] Um probably not Woxic or brush don't

[21:56] really tend to be that active on the T

[21:58] side. He's at a 15%

[22:00] according to my HLTV check so maybe it

[22:03] it's going to be Kicks and maybe even

[22:05] Jimmy. Jimmy is going to have to be a

[22:07] little bit more active. I don't know if

[22:09] it was down to the

[22:11] team make up of Mouse which made Jimmy

[22:14] uber passive on the T side. He never

[22:16] really did anything. He just played his

[22:18] life, played not to die. I'm not

[22:21] certain if that was down to his level of

[22:24] preference or was it the team saying to

[22:26] him okay Jimmy hold lobby on Nuke. Don't

[22:28] die ever. Please don't don't don't die.

[22:30] Don't do anything stupid.

[22:32] Um so yeah, I I can foresee Jimmy

[22:34] becoming a little bit more active and

[22:37] and maybe Kicks and has to

[22:39] become a little bit more sacrificial.

[22:41] He's seen what Carrigan did in in

[22:43] Falcons. Just putting out 0.7 but

[22:45] creating a lot of space for his

[22:47] teammates and and being that sacrificial

[22:49] lamb. I I think

[22:51] I think Kicks and is

[22:52] is maybe even a too good of an

[22:55] um fragging in game leader. I don't want

[22:57] my in game leader to be good at

[22:58] fragging.

[22:59] That's That's my take.

[23:00] You need the mechanics of CS side sure.

[23:02] It's Or maybe you don't in the major,

[23:04] but but I I remember cuz I've I was

[23:06] looking at this as well and for kiks and

[23:08] there was a there was a similar stat

[23:10] which is

[23:11] I think it's so it's

[23:12] on Falcons, 38% of his T-side opening

[23:16] deaths were traded. So, like of the

[23:18] openings he's going for, there's

[23:19] basically always someone behind him to

[23:20] trade. So, on Apex it was 27% and then

[23:23] Heroic it was 28%. So, it's like you can

[23:25] see the type of play kiks and was

[23:28] in the team that he had more control

[23:29] basically and was more of a fragger. And

[23:32] then you look at Falcons and it is just

[23:33] I've got so many better players around

[23:35] me. I'm going to have to sell myself.

[23:36] And I'm

[23:37] interested to see if he's going to come

[23:38] into this team and have the Falcons

[23:41] attitude or the kind of Apex Heroic

[23:43] attitude where he's like, "No, no, no,

[23:44] like I can hang within this team and

[23:47] it's not worth throwing my life away."

[23:48] What do you think?

[23:49] I think it I think it's worthwhile and I

[23:50] think even I mean between kiks and and

[23:52] Ash they're they're going to probably

[23:53] discuss that a lot and probably come to

[23:55] the conclusion, like, "Listen, if we

[23:57] can't make Centaurs work, we like we're

[23:59] going to have to try and commit

[24:00] resources to try and make that work."

[24:02] So, I I actually foresee the I mean the

[24:03] package simply goes going to be Vacadis,

[24:05] Centaurs, kiks and kiks and will be

[24:08] first in most most instances, I think.

[24:10] So,

[24:11] um

[24:12] let's maybe put more stress on Woxic and

[24:14] maybe even Jimmy to be a part of like

[24:16] side eggs acts. They'll maybe trust

[24:19] Jimmy to not be involved in that, but

[24:21] they're you don't have a lot of

[24:22] dedicated nade throwers perhaps, you

[24:24] know, Vacadis is sort of a mid-round

[24:26] nade thrower if anything, but I'm not

[24:27] trusting Centaurs to throw smoke. And uh

[24:30] maybe if if kiks and is not dying first,

[24:31] you can you can throw util as well, but

[24:33] I

[24:35] you know, Majer was kind of a lightning

[24:37] rod for utility

[24:38] on this team. And this is not for a lack

[24:41] of trying. There were times where you

[24:43] saw Woxic do a lot more, flashing

[24:45] teammates in, playing a little bit more

[24:47] passive, but then you'd also just never

[24:49] really get involved in the game because

[24:51] the riflers were so

[24:52] aggressive so space takery that if if

[24:54] they lost out on that duel, Woxic was

[24:56] just he was kind of screwed, so

[24:59] Yeah, I I think the the utility question

[25:01] is an interesting one because if I was

[25:04] playing like football manager or

[25:05] something you could actually control

[25:06] these guys. I'd always want

[25:08] like a Jimmy to be throwing the nades so

[25:11] that he's alive for the later round. I

[25:12] hate it when you watch the kind of

[25:14] in-game leader with the worst mechanics

[25:16] throwing the flashbang lineups because

[25:18] like they're the ones he's devised. Like

[25:19] I know it's got to be perfect timing.

[25:20] I've got to like I just tell just tell

[25:22] your your best clutch to throw it at

[25:24] time. I think that's what Spirit do

[25:25] really well with how how often sh1ro is

[25:28] offering the nades. Like in in this

[25:30] Aurora team, I completely agree. I want

[25:32] karrigan to be bomb site entering

[25:33] because it doesn't really make sense for

[25:34] Zantares to

[25:36] often he's going to be dead already,

[25:37] right? Or taking mid or whatever. He's

[25:38] more of an opener. And I want Woxic to

[25:40] be throwing utility or or Jimmy if he's

[25:42] there if he's not on the other side of

[25:44] the map. Like I think it makes so much

[25:45] more sense to

[25:46] to not have your in-game leader doing

[25:48] all of these flashbangs all of the time

[25:50] because then they can't entry and I want

[25:51] my worst player to entry first.

[25:53] What do you think?

[25:56] Makes sense, Harry. That makes sense.

[25:59] Yeah, so we'll see. We've got to talk to

[26:01] Apex one day about this cuz he's he's so

[26:03] good at flashbangs, but could he not

[26:05] teach teammates to be to be so good at

[26:06] flashbangs? He's he's fine when you got

[26:08] Flames and

[26:09] He's an Apex. I've got an idea how to

[26:10] make the best team ever a little bit

[26:12] better.

[26:13] Yeah, yeah. Maybe if he if he had Donkey

[26:15] instead of instead of Flames he'd have

[26:16] to do something different, but it's the

[26:19] it's the luxuries of having an opener

[26:21] who's actually just an insane entry as

[26:23] well. But but yeah, I did also want to

[26:25] just focus in on on Zantares because

[26:28] it's been a big talking point already

[26:30] with this team and I mean the drop off

[26:32] is is pretty stark and this guy is 30

[26:35] years old. Like this is this is

[26:37] something where if he was going to get

[26:39] over it, it you'd hope it would have

[26:40] been maybe this year when they signed

[26:42] the kind of performance coach that was

[26:44] getting a lot of credit for the for the

[26:46] most recent results. Like what So what

[26:48] is what is holding him back here?

[26:50] I don't know. He was pretty good still

[26:52] last year, wasn't he? If I

[26:54] He's still It's like it was like 106, I

[26:56] think. Like it's still just not quite

[26:58] like for all the season still I think

[26:59] he's about 106 in playoffs in rating

[27:02] 3.0. And that is like you think about

[27:03] the reputation of this player. You think

[27:05] about how often in past years we like

[27:07] why isn't he higher on the top 20? It's

[27:08] cuz he played two playoff maps a year

[27:10] and and everyone's just presuming that

[27:13] he's going to be as good in groups as he

[27:14] is in playoffs. It It often doesn't

[27:16] happen like that. And I think we've kind

[27:17] of seen that as Aurora become more of a

[27:19] playoff team.

[27:20] But

[27:21] it's kind of justifying why why

[27:22] sometimes you if you you don't have

[27:24] enough playoff maps you shouldn't get

[27:25] too high in the top 20 and stuff like

[27:26] that.

[27:26] Yeah, I'm not sure I necessarily blame

[27:29] it on ZywOo

[27:30] being a noob in playoffs more so that

[27:33] the style that they play is just

[27:34] unsustainable because it's so

[27:37] like independent duel dependent. There's

[27:40] not

[27:40] If he won those duels it'd be fine,

[27:41] though.

[27:42] Yeah, I know but they're like

[27:44] when against top teams

[27:46] there's so much set up. You know, they

[27:47] make their lives so much easier for

[27:49] themselves. It's not My main criticism

[27:50] of you know, tier two teams that are

[27:52] kind of on the rise, you know, bait was

[27:54] one that I really isolated in the latter

[27:57] portion of the season where

[27:59] you know, they used to flashbangs

[28:00] terribly. They used util terribly

[28:02] because they just contact into bomb

[28:04] sites so much. And it's like you're not

[28:06] going to beat a top team doing that.

[28:08] Just just really ever cuz they're one

[28:10] better players and two when they're in

[28:12] the same position they're throwing

[28:14] flashbangs. They're they're helping

[28:16] themselves out win fights. And I think

[28:20] Aurora just played a little too loose to

[28:22] necessarily capitalize on maybe even

[28:24] weaken sites cuz someone lose a a duel a

[28:26] rotate would come and it's like okay

[28:27] well the gap we thought we had is just

[28:29] gone now.

[28:30] Yeah. I I think this is Ash's like

[28:33] priority number one is is

[28:35] ZywOo like making him play better or

[28:38] trying to get more out of him because if

[28:42] if that's what Ash is able to do that's

[28:44] that's the big X factor.

[28:46] Uh pun intended when we talk about

[28:48] Zantares. And yeah,

[28:50] um

[28:51] I don't really buy the maybe like

[28:54] choking in the playoffs, whatever the

[28:55] narrative is. I just feel like that that

[28:57] just showcases and pinpoints the level

[29:00] where Zantares wasn't able to get away

[29:02] what what he does in the group play

[29:04] stages or versus worse opponents. I

[29:06] think that's where the elite teams are

[29:08] able to punish him really easily. Um so

[29:11] that's something for Ash to figure out.

[29:12] How do we set up Zantares for maybe

[29:14] easier fights, maybe fights that aren't

[29:16] just mechanic based where Zantares just

[29:19] tries to Zantares peak his way out of

[29:21] trouble, which he's been able to do for

[29:23] over a decade. So maybe you can't blame

[29:25] him for for thinking that he he kind of

[29:27] get away with it, but it just hasn't

[29:29] been going his way in this playoffs. So

[29:33] Um yeah, um really interesting season

[29:36] coming up for Zantares because this is

[29:38] synchro swim.

[29:39] If he is able to improve, maybe he can

[29:42] prolong his career, but if not, it's

[29:45] time for some replacements.

[29:46] I think what I'll loop this back to to

[29:49] Majer and this doesn't necessarily

[29:50] coincide with our graphic, but

[29:53] it's actually one of the critiques I had

[29:54] of Majer, not necessarily that the

[29:55] calling was bad, but that they could

[29:57] never really find like a tempo that

[29:59] really worked for them. You know, Kicks

[30:00] in like slowing things down, playing

[30:02] into the you know,

[30:04] you know, mid-late round like 40-50

[30:06] seconds where they they would start to

[30:08] really make their decision. Um whereas

[30:11] with with Majer, I felt like there were

[30:12] so many times where they got an entry on

[30:14] say the A bomb site on Inferno and then

[30:16] they'd hesitate and then they'd be like,

[30:17] wait a second, we actually should go and

[30:19] capitalize on this and then they'd just

[30:21] be too late. They do this like

[30:23] stop-start thing where it's like, are we

[30:25] all on the same page? We're going to do

[30:26] this thing now and it would have to

[30:28] almost go in order like taking a roll

[30:30] call in a classroom like everybody in

[30:31] attendance? Yep, here, here, here. By

[30:34] that time it's too late.

[30:35] And that that's a good call, you mean. I

[30:37] I also found a stat about this.

[30:39] In this calendar year, their 5v4

[30:42] conversions have been just got awful. I

[30:43] think they were 20th out of 30, so

[30:46] uh that matches up. You're right, it

[30:48] matches up with that stats also here.

[30:51] Do you think part of that's just lack of

[30:52] agency in plays? Because you you just

[30:54] expect in like a top 10 team, you know,

[30:57] if if your lurker gets an entry, the

[30:58] lurker should know whether it's like the

[31:00] in-game leader is not telling him to

[31:01] push out. Do you think maybe they just

[31:03] didn't do that?

[31:04] I think it's trauma, to be honest. Cuz

[31:07] [laughter]

[31:07] there have been so many times before,

[31:09] you know, when they were on the rise,

[31:10] where they were just making too many

[31:11] rash decisions where I was like, "Oh my

[31:12] god, we found an entry. It's time to

[31:14] go." and it's like, "Oh, this is a stack

[31:15] bomb site. We made a mistake. We're

[31:16] losing the USPs or something." You know,

[31:18] they've they've made the so many of

[31:19] those mistakes on their climb that I

[31:21] almost think there's like a there is a

[31:23] built-up

[31:24] retained trauma from all those

[31:25] experiences where it's like, "Okay, we

[31:27] should slow things down, but also is

[31:29] this the We actually maybe we should

[31:30] go." and, you know, they just they

[31:32] fumble it. They fumbled many.

[31:35] Yeah. And to solve the trauma they've

[31:36] got, Mr. Radar meme is the new in-game

[31:39] leader, basically. So, it's

[31:41] Just do you think do you think Kiks

[31:42] could help?

[31:45] Sure, sure. And also just getting better

[31:48] players role for all, maybe who who have

[31:50] a experience in making those decisions

[31:52] in the in better teams like like

[31:54] mousesports has been a generally better

[31:56] team than Aurora, so Jimmy maybe has

[31:58] picked up a thing or two there, and and

[32:00] I I'd hope Kiks has too.

[32:02] Um

[32:02] Do you guys want to hear some potential

[32:04] Zantares replacements?

[32:06] Sure.

[32:07] Let's go straight in there.

[32:09] Okay, first on the list, starting with

[32:12] uh a very realistic choice. I have Donk

[32:14] here.

[32:15] Uh anybody heard of him?

[32:16] I saw there's actually a forum thread

[32:17] that suggested this exact move. Cuz it's

[32:19] just, "Aurora have money, why don't they

[32:21] just sign Donk?"

[32:22] Yeah. I mean, the message is out

[32:24] Shura wants to leave, apparently. So,

[32:26] you know, Donk should just also leave.

[32:29] Okay, okay. Uh more realistic, or maybe

[32:31] I don't know. I don't know. Insani?

[32:33] Insani would be really really good in

[32:34] this spot, I feel like, but I don't know

[32:36] if he's

[32:37] going to be able to leave.

[32:38] Well, the

[32:39] the the rumor of ZywOo is that his

[32:41] contract runs out at the end of the

[32:42] year. I don't know if he's resigned, but

[32:45] I think in the reporting about Legacy

[32:46] bidding for him, like that was part of

[32:48] it is that basically he was

[32:50] they like ZywOo is waiting for the end

[32:52] of his contract so that he can explore

[32:53] more options.

[32:54] Also, I feel like ZywOo is a bit more of

[32:55] like a Guardia type player. So, I just

[32:58] don't know if that's that's like I I

[33:00] would have attributed more to Guardia

[33:03] archetype than a ZywOo's one to be quite

[33:05] honest.

[33:06] I think positions he's more ZywOo's, but

[33:07] it's it's whether he can coexist with

[33:09] a lurker as aggressive.

[33:11] Sure. Maybe. Um but that's the other thing

[33:13] that kind of we haven't spoken about

[33:14] much is just how good Guardia has been

[33:16] this year. Like does does ZywOo

[33:18] kind of getting older and dropping off

[33:20] matter as much when realistically in

[33:22] like a year's time Guardia is just going

[33:24] to be their star rifle maybe.

[33:26] Yeah. This is something I thought about.

[33:28] Like is is ZywOo going to

[33:30] end up being a Rain type of a mold where

[33:33] older statesman type of pretty good

[33:36] rifler, former All-Star level rifler who

[33:39] just maybe just plays plays his roles,

[33:41] lets lets maybe other people shine a

[33:42] little bit more, but

[33:44] I don't think it's enough really. I

[33:46] don't think it's enough. Uh like if if

[33:48] Guardia is your

[33:50] your tool to beat or challenge the the

[33:52] top five teams, which are always is

[33:54] striving to be a top five team, so

[33:57] you'd hope that your star player is on

[33:59] the level of of the top five teams. So,

[34:02] Guardia versus Donk, ZywOo,

[34:05] I I don't know, m0NESY,

[34:07] sh1ro, or whoever you want to pick,

[34:09] Yatoro or or the m0NESY's. Like I think

[34:11] that that could be a ceiling Aura is

[34:13] going to hit if Guardia is truly their

[34:15] best player.

[34:15] Listen, all I'm saying is that ZywOo is

[34:17] not going to be a Rain type figure

[34:19] because he just doesn't have cool uncle

[34:21] energy, you know? At least Rain had

[34:23] that. He had the charisma, you know, he

[34:25] had he seemed to have a pretty jovial

[34:26] attitude, pretty good sort of glue guy

[34:29] in some way, father figure somebody even

[34:31] say on a team like FaZe once upon a

[34:33] time. I'm not sure if Zantares has the

[34:35] temperament for that.

[34:36] Maybe not.

[34:37] Well, I guess I guess we're going to

[34:38] have to find out. But I I mean, I agree

[34:40] with you guys. I just I just add this

[34:43] to the mix.

[34:44] Which is the

[34:45] And again, these Twitter rumors, it's

[34:47] not real rumors. But from all the talk

[34:49] is that when Fallen goes,

[34:51] it seems like Molodoi, if he's smart

[34:53] about his options, he's going to have an

[34:56] kind of exploration. And Aurora have not

[34:58] made it a secret that they want him.

[35:00] So, is the kind of firepower solution to

[35:02] just say

[35:04] Zantares is going to be our third star.

[35:06] He's going to be an X factor cuz he's

[35:07] kind of old and his arm hurts. With kade

[35:10] a great second star, like probably a top

[35:12] 20 player this year current rate easily.

[35:14] And he's already got like three EVPs, so

[35:16] he's I'm not giving anything away by

[35:17] saying that.

[35:18] he's sick.

[35:19] Molodoi as the star oper.

[35:22] And Ash has wanted him before.

[35:24] Yeah.

[35:25] Yeah.

[35:26] I

[35:26] It It's been interesting. A couple of

[35:29] months ago we had that sponge leak where

[35:32] where he talked about Alexi and Molodoi

[35:34] um

[35:36] uh being uh

[35:37] uh on in the scope of Aurora. And just

[35:40] just on a on a PR level or or like a

[35:42] media level, I find interesting that

[35:45] that info got through and got out there.

[35:47] And who benefits from from that info

[35:50] being out there? Maybe Maybe it was

[35:51] Aurora just making a statement and

[35:53] saying, "Hey, we we're interested in

[35:55] anyone. Like, we have the money. Like,

[35:56] we can do anything." And maybe that's

[35:58] part of their building process in in

[36:00] terms of making a star level

[36:02] international squad. But yeah, if we if

[36:04] this is our opportunity to also talk

[36:06] about Woxic, I think he's

[36:08] even a bigger hindrance than Zantares is

[36:10] because I can see Zantares

[36:12] fitting into that third rifle

[36:15] role where he can just

[36:17] do what he does like maybe

[36:20] one year around or two during a map and

[36:22] maybe that's going to be enough. But I

[36:23] think Woxic is is is a bigger hindrance.

[36:26] I uh

[36:27] especially if you compare him with the

[36:29] top offers of the world. He's I feel

[36:31] like nowhere close.

[36:33] Um

[36:33] Which has been enough because what is

[36:35] the competition what or what has been

[36:37] the competition inside of Turkey in

[36:39] terms of offers? There really hasn't

[36:40] been been any competition like he's been

[36:43] clearly the best out of that region for

[36:45] a while, but

[36:47] is is just not comparable and I don't

[36:49] think

[36:50] he I I looked at his utility. That's

[36:52] pretty bad. So, you can even make the

[36:54] argument of the ah he's more of a super

[36:56] supportive type of an offer. He's not

[36:58] that. He's really bad on the T side.

[37:01] Uh I think I I look at some of his deep

[37:03] demos. He doesn't say he's clutch. He is

[37:05] clutch. That that was my one one

[37:07] [laughter]

[37:07] positive aspect of Woxic, but really

[37:10] easy to bait out shots out of him like

[37:12] with just little jiggles. He's really

[37:14] eager to press that mouse one and I

[37:16] think he's really easy to outplay for

[37:18] the elite teams of the world. So, yeah,

[37:20] a bigger hindrance than Sontares for me.

[37:22] Yeah, I just think Woxic's T sides have

[37:25] dragged him down out of the conversation

[37:27] cuz on CT he actually has some pretty

[37:29] strong performances typically. Doesn't

[37:32] help that Overpass is now out of the

[37:33] pool because that was a strong map for

[37:35] him. Yeah, I I think he was also

[37:37] genuinely one of the best offers in the

[37:39] world on train once when that was in the

[37:41] pool. It's like we're removing these

[37:43] maps systematically where it's like ah

[37:45] okay, Woxic is going to struggle, but

[37:47] he's still putting up good numbers on

[37:49] uh on Mirage uh and Anubis.

[37:51] Uh yeah, on on CT sides especially, but

[37:54] on on T sides I just feel like yeah, he

[37:56] he is a bit of a of a liability. Like

[37:59] you would just rather you'd almost just

[38:01] rather have another rifler instead of an

[38:03] offer that just doesn't connect.

[38:05] And

[38:06] many of these modern offers are really

[38:08] good with the rifles, too, and I

[38:09] wouldn't put Woxic into that category. I

[38:12] don't know. Would you guys

[38:13] put Maldo in that category.

[38:14] definitely not the case with Maldo.

[38:16] I I'd love to see Maldo if he was like

[38:18] 50% off killed not 65. Like I I I do

[38:21] wonder if he would be as positive as he

[38:24] was

[38:24] curious question as well is

[38:26] can Ash use opers? Cuz he's been through

[38:29] a fair amount of them and I think

[38:31] there's been a lot of criticism levied

[38:32] at like, wait a second, every time these

[38:34] opers come into your team, they just

[38:36] they're just not involved. Like they're

[38:38] missing shots. What's going on? He

[38:39] leaves Game Religion we start to see a

[38:41] cool hypix. Like wait a second, where

[38:43] was this energy before?

[38:45] He's never wrong, just early.

[38:46] Yeah.

[38:48] I don't know, we'll see how it goes,

[38:49] see.

[38:50] But yeah, I think I think it's it's an

[38:51] interesting one in terms of the oper

[38:54] because you look at someone like Woxic

[38:56] and I think it's similar to the G2

[38:57] situation where

[38:59] there's obviously reasons to remove some

[39:01] players. Like he's obviously got his

[39:03] flaws. It's very easy to point to flaws

[39:04] of basically every oper in the world.

[39:06] But is rinkle better? Like like if they

[39:08] cut if they got rid of Woxic and added a

[39:10] a player like rinkle or like even even

[39:12] Jabbi who's unproven, but people talk.

[39:15] People say very good things about him,

[39:16] but he's unproven. Like is is that

[39:18] really worth it when you're going

[39:19] through kind of such a tumultuous time

[39:21] as an international team? Like having

[39:22] Woxic who's played in an international

[39:24] team before, but can also communicate

[39:25] with the Turks that feels like it's

[39:27] going to be useful for the next few

[39:29] months at least.

[39:31] Yeah, at least for that that amount of

[39:32] time. Yeah, the oper market these days

[39:34] aren't really really many many proven

[39:36] opers like Maldoi is maybe maybe one.

[39:39] Uh Nine ten maybe maybe could be a

[39:42] decent pick up now that Mongols is just

[39:44] imploding and their talent is just

[39:46] Let's not try to kill the Mongols here.

[39:48] They did that to themselves.

[39:50] They're already dead.

[39:52] If it yeah, what what if M0E is going to

[39:54] be C game it can't it can't be going

[39:55] well. It's not

[39:56] Yeah, well.

[39:57] Yeah, I'd love to see Ninte in an

[39:58] international I think Ninte would be a

[39:59] really good shout of someone who

[40:01] you know, is good on the rifle as well.

[40:02] If if Maldoi is unattainable for

[40:04] whatever reason, like I I should Fury

[40:06] with one

[40:07] uh upwards of what they paid for him and

[40:09] what what they paid for him when he was

[40:10] unproven was insane. So it's

[40:12] if Aurora really going to be big boys

[40:14] about kind of what they're what they're

[40:15] signing, oper is the place to be because

[40:17] I think there is

[40:19] room

[40:20] to spend money there in terms of the

[40:22] only way you get a massive upgrade is if

[40:23] you spend a ridiculous amount of money

[40:25] there. So, if you're one of the few orgs

[40:26] that can, that's kind of the place

[40:28] you don't necessarily have to as well.

[40:29] Like, there's also I mean, Gratisfaction

[40:31] is another option where it's like, you

[40:33] know, he's maybe not the most refined

[40:35] player, but if you're going to if you're

[40:36] going to start swinging and taking risks

[40:38] on on opers and you say Woxic isn't good

[40:40] enough, then

[40:41] you know, whether you're a G2 or a

[40:43] Aurora, you can take a swing on like one

[40:46] of the prospects for for the op is is

[40:48] probably a positive even if it maybe

[40:50] sets you back a month or two in terms of

[40:52] getting them up to speed.

[40:54] Yeah. Overall, not an easy spot for

[40:56] Woxic. He's

[40:57] certainly also read all the and heard

[40:59] all the rumors. So, nice nice Yeah, nice

[41:02] to perform when you have a Maldo

[41:04] breathing down

[41:05] I I seem to remember him doing an ESL

[41:06] Pro League podcast content piece where

[41:08] it's like, oh, we know there's rumors

[41:09] about your your team. What's what's

[41:11] going on there? And Woxic's just at the

[41:12] table like, I don't know. I can't talk

[41:14] about the rumors cuz I'm involved in the

[41:16] rumors. Like, it would have been me

[41:17] [laughter] on the team or something.

[41:18] It's like, yeah, fair enough actually.

[41:21] Yeah, no no one told him that he's

[41:23] Yeah, I think it's an interesting one to

[41:24] monitor because I can see the logic for

[41:26] keeping Woxic just in this market. Like,

[41:28] even someone like Gratisfaction, I just

[41:29] look at it. I'm just like,

[41:30] does he does he have the understanding

[41:32] and and the personality to kind of

[41:34] be an improvement for a team that's

[41:35] already going to be juggling a lot of

[41:37] things at once. Like, if I if they

[41:39] change Woxic and wanted to be for

[41:40] someone like Maldo, I want it to be on

[41:41] that level of kind of explosive

[41:44] to be their star player

[41:45] for the next 5 years basically.

[41:47] But, and then so this next chart I had

[41:50] is

[41:52] And I mean, we've talked about Santorin

[41:53] a lot, so maybe we can skip over it

[41:55] quickly. It's just yeah, he's actually

[41:56] just been quite bad on CT side this year

[41:58] compared to his positions. Um,

[42:01] Woxic as I said been great, but I also

[42:02] want to use this chance to talk about

[42:04] Jimmy because

[42:06] as I said, he's like one of the full

[42:07] rating this year. Like, it is rough. And

[42:10] I I know that you're going to have a

[42:11] passionate defense of him here because

[42:13] he's still still pretty good on CT side.

[42:15] He's still doing better than you would

[42:16] expect for his positions. So, what's

[42:18] your kind of

[42:19] Uh

[42:20] remark on his performance here?

[42:23] Yeah, we'll we'll get into the whole

[42:24] Aurora fit and um and Jimmy's form

[42:26] lately, but Harry, I want to take you

[42:28] back to the year 20 with 24 and and that

[42:31] historic year for Jimmy.

[42:33] Famously rating 3.0 was uh

[42:37] or or you you you published it a week

[42:40] later, but looking back now that we have

[42:42] rating 3.0,

[42:44] uh how good was Jimmy's year? I think he

[42:46] was 17th in the top 20. If you had to

[42:49] re-rank that 2024 top 20, do it right

[42:52] here, Harry.

[42:53] [laughter]

[42:53] How high would Jimmy be?

[42:55] I think he'd be closer to 10 than 20.

[42:57] Jimmy got robbed in 2024 and um I want

[42:58] the record to be straightened here.

[42:58] Yeah, I mean, I remember it being very

[42:59] controversial at the time even. I think

[43:00] it I can't remember what the issue was

[43:00] from the Yeah, 17th, I mean, that is I

[43:01] just think it's quite harsh looking back

[43:02] considering he was like 120 or

[43:03] something. So ridiculous. It was arenas,

[43:03] right? It was arenas. Yeah. It's made

[43:04] made up near arena arena. I think the

[43:05] whole gang really was 103 arena rating

[43:06] 100. Yes, he's 100 against top five.

[43:07] This is best ever year. It's what and

[43:08] 104 against top 10. 103 arena. That was

[43:09] why he was where he was at the time. Go

[43:09] on. Okay. You know what that coincides

[43:10] with? Not having Spinks on the team. Cuz

[43:11] once Spinks entered the I entered mouse,

[43:12] suddenly Jim Fat had to change some of

[43:13] his positions. Uh didn't necessarily do

[43:13] the greatest side of it. I think the the

[43:14] amount of times sorry to to cut you off

[43:15] to keep cutting you off, but the amount

[43:16] of times you'd see him clutch

[43:17] Yeah.

[44:05] The amount of times, sorry, to to

[44:07] keep cutting off, but the amount of

[44:08] times you'd see him clutch started to

[44:10] shrivel up. I don't know if

[44:11] communication faded or if the new

[44:13] positions were throwing him off kilter,

[44:15] his timings were off, but he just became

[44:17] a less clutch player. He

[44:19] just started having less impact on the

[44:20] game once Spinx joined the roster.

[44:23] Yeah, I I feel like his form or the

[44:26] drop-off in form is still a little bit

[44:29] hard to explain and maybe it'll take

[44:31] some time. We'll see how well he plays

[44:33] on on this Aurora roster and how will he

[44:35] look alike when he's maybe playing sides

[44:38] with Vikedia who's a bit more active and

[44:40] a bit less baited than Spinx. Will that

[44:42] have an impact on Jimmy's form on the CT

[44:45] side? Cuz the CT side

[44:48] uh has also been problematic, not not

[44:50] just the T side.

[44:51] Um

[44:52] and also

[44:56] What was I thinking about? Vikedia,

[44:58] Vikedia's form, Jimmy.

[45:00] You can continue. I'll get back to my

[45:02] point.

[45:02] Yeah, the the thing with the thing with

[45:04] Jimmy was just simply that I I I could

[45:07] tell that there was You know, when

[45:09] people would liken him to someone like

[45:10] Robs or a lot of these other like solid

[45:12] anchor players, bit for example as well,

[45:15] where you know, you just wouldn't see

[45:16] the the temperance, you know, you

[45:17] wouldn't you wouldn't get him pushing at

[45:19] the right moment. You wouldn't see him

[45:20] make decisions that would help his team

[45:23] win rounds. He would just he would play

[45:24] a lot of his his spots and

[45:27] um you would see him basically do

[45:29] negligible risks. I actually became

[45:31] critical of him in a similar way that

[45:33] maybe someone like Zontikz, for example,

[45:34] for Spirit, you know, never really made

[45:36] moves, especially on CT sides, where

[45:39] you're the best anchor players in the

[45:40] world do make those types of plays. They

[45:42] do go for an occasional push. They take

[45:44] a timing, they take a risk at time from

[45:46] time to time, but they let their team

[45:48] have a contingency that that falls in

[45:50] place afterwards. I don't know that

[45:51] Jimmy had that autonomy or was given the

[45:54] hierarchy to make those types of

[45:55] decisions in the 2025 and onwards

[45:58] version of Mouse.

[45:59] Yeah. Yeah, this was one of the things

[46:01] that Jimmy talked about in the

[46:03] interview. He didn't really point to the

[46:04] Spinx change as as an a factor of why

[46:08] his form got worse, but he pointed more

[46:10] towards

[46:11] losing Shoohey and he gave quite a bit

[46:13] of credit to Shoohey. So, maybe we can

[46:15] see a Shoohey stock getting a bit of big

[46:19] because [laughter] of his work on

[46:21] Uh because

[46:23] he is not not doing too too well here,

[46:25] but

[46:26] that's one thing I'm interested in

[46:27] because you can say whatever you about

[46:30] whatever you want about Brollan but not

[46:32] a natural in-game leader. He tried it in

[46:34] mousesports. Now, he's moving on to

[46:36] Heroic. Not going to be any in-game

[46:37] leader anymore. So, I'm interested in

[46:39] seeing if again playing with a real

[46:42] in-game leader who's able to dictate his

[46:45] style, maybe call some plays for Jimmy

[46:46] if he doesn't have the autonomy, maybe

[46:48] pointing to work pointing him towards

[46:50] making a play. Will that improve his

[46:52] level? That that's one thing I'm

[46:54] interested in seeing.

[46:56] I also want to see him a bit angry. Like

[46:57] I saw his quote in your interview about

[46:59] it's like they told me they told me I

[47:01] wouldn't play the major because like for

[47:02] role reasons and then they just put

[47:04] Brollan in all of Jimmy's roles and

[47:06] Brollan was bad at them. Like you would

[47:08] be annoyed watching that, would you?

[47:09] Like that that that would piss you off.

[47:11] Yeah, I mean he seemed motivated and

[47:14] he talked about his individual

[47:15] individual form. He just talked about he

[47:17] wants to kill people again. He he wants

[47:19] to like

[47:20] show that he still got it and what else?

[47:23] I think he promised us a trophy during

[47:26] this fall season. So,

[47:28] at least some bravado coming out of

[47:30] Jimmy.

[47:31] Yeah, super Dracula and just got to you.

[47:33] Thank you for inviting me to that. It's

[47:35] I I'm very excited for Jimmy because I

[47:37] do think I do think the Spinx stuff is

[47:40] maybe a bit over blamed because

[47:42] we actually had lots on a few weeks ago

[47:43] and his stats kind of

[47:44] back this up because Spinx's traded

[47:46] numbers are actually very high. Like for

[47:48] for someone who's seen as such a player,

[47:49] especially T side, like Jimmy kept most

[47:52] of his positions. Like in a row he's

[47:53] going to be playing the same positions

[47:55] as he was in mousesports with Spinx.

[47:56] It's more just

[47:58] like you said, I think it's more of a CT

[47:59] kind of style thing. Like now, it's

[48:01] going to be if he's on a site with

[48:03] Woxic, he's going to be the one that

[48:05] that is what going to be alive and

[48:07] later, basically.

[48:08] I just think in the hierarchy of

[48:09] play-making on that Mouse team, like

[48:11] Jimmy was very, very far down the rungs.

[48:14] You know, Spinx is a is a player that

[48:16] likes being active, likes taking space,

[48:18] even if it is a little slow or a little,

[48:21] you know, on his own time, perhaps.

[48:23] He He wants to be the one that makes

[48:25] that play, that catches the flank, and

[48:27] does does these things. And, you know,

[48:29] Jimmy kind of gets sidelined in that

[48:31] regard. You know, you don't want too

[48:32] many people going for plays

[48:33] simultaneously. And if Spinx is going to

[48:34] be very vocal in making those types of

[48:36] decisions, then, you know, Jimmy is

[48:38] naturally going to take a backseat. Like

[48:39] the The guy is less experienced than

[48:41] Spinx. He's younger than him. Like, I

[48:43] think some people forget that Jimmy is

[48:45] 19 considering he's He's been a top-tier

[48:48] player for for quite some time now. So,

[48:51] yeah, there's

[48:52] I think because he's had that experience

[48:54] at Mouse and because he's now moving

[48:56] into a team with a different in-game

[48:57] leader, players that maybe are a little

[48:59] desperate in some regard like Woxic and

[49:01] Tarik probably see this as their last

[49:02] hurrah before things start to go south

[49:04] in their careers. You know, maybe he can

[49:06] take a bit more of that position for

[49:08] himself and has a bit more of an

[49:10] identity of what he wants to do. Like he

[49:11] or like you said, Robu, just going out

[49:13] and killing people. Like that is a

[49:15] cocoon motivate him and bring him back

[49:17] into form.

[49:18] Yeah, you want you want him to be a star

[49:20] anchor, not a support player, basically.

[49:22] If you're looking at this team, it's

[49:23] like I mean, Woxic is a great player to

[49:25] have because he's

[49:27] he's the lurker, but he's also not like

[49:28] a baiting lurker. Like he wants to be

[49:30] the the trade fragger, not the kind of

[49:32] the the soloist, almost. So, I think

[49:34] that should really help Jimmy because I

[49:36] think even though he plays

[49:37] similar roles to the way Spinx did, it's

[49:39] going to be very, very different in

[49:40] terms of the late rounds.

[49:42] Yeah.

[49:43] Uh we might talk maps later also, but

[49:46] Jimmy hasn't played Anubis. Uh and Cache

[49:49] is also coming in, so uh Robu is going

[49:51] to have to make some decisions of what

[49:53] what they're going to start playing and

[49:55] it's going to be some new maps for for

[49:56] some people. So that's going to be

[49:58] Keynote says this thing is really good

[50:00] anchor on an even stay. I feel like this

[50:01] is just going to be fine. Like surely

[50:03] it's fine.

[50:04] Wickedly has been doing that, right?

[50:06] Yeah. Yeah. So it's Wickedly's like only

[50:08] anchor map is an even and it just felt

[50:09] like that would just won't do that

[50:11] anymore.

[50:11] Would be a pretty natural if it end. If

[50:13] I'm not mistaken it doesn't been a great

[50:15] great site or a great half for Wickedly

[50:17] so maybe maybe

[50:20] that that enables Wickedly to maybe do

[50:22] more.

[50:23] Mhm. Okay. I think it's probably time

[50:26] for the floor and frets. But before then

[50:27] I I should also mention follow us on

[50:29] Spotify. You can watch it on Spotify as

[50:31] well. And we also have a Discord in the

[50:33] description that you should join if you

[50:34] want to harass me about who we give MVP

[50:36] of XSET Pro League to.

[50:38] Um that's the place to do it.

[50:40] Uh but yeah, so floor and frets. If

[50:42] we've covered it I would just go skip

[50:43] through. But I think this is the

[50:45] This is a lovely Welsh Welsh user. He

[50:48] says Soulflay wasn't even that bad.

[50:49] Jimmy 2024 could be an upgrade but last

[50:52] year he was mega washed. We've just kind

[50:53] of covered that but a quick word on

[50:55] Soulflay in terms of

[50:57] what do you think he's going to get up

[50:58] to for the rest of the year because you

[50:59] know people wouldn't

[51:01] for sure.

[51:02] Yeah. Like do you do you think he could

[51:03] still play on like a top 20 team rest of

[51:04] this year?

[51:05] Yeah, no. I I I do think that. I mean

[51:07] he's went from being an aggressive

[51:08] player to being an anchor player that

[51:09] was an an he's from his lurker that was

[51:11] doing his job. You know he didn't he

[51:14] didn't overload, he didn't overheat, he

[51:15] wasn't one of these players who made a

[51:17] lot necessarily a lot of mistakes

[51:19] and I think that I think it was a very

[51:21] positive outing for him. It just kind of

[51:23] sucks that it was like so temporary for

[51:25] with Aurora because

[51:26] in terms of being and and the

[51:28] aspirational place to be like oh my god

[51:30] I'm playing with Woxic and Centore and

[51:31] Majer and you know these legendary names

[51:33] from the the region. It's like oh it's a

[51:35] dream and the dream was very short-lived

[51:37] unfortunately for him.

[51:38] Yeah. You just look at it it's just

[51:40] Aurora just taking a mark opportunity.

[51:41] It's like

[51:43] we can't upgrade Europa the way we

[51:44] wanted to but Jimmy's available and he's

[51:47] like like Robby was saying earlier, he's

[51:48] he's a unicorn player in in some ways.

[51:50] So just just get Jimmy.

[51:51] He's just a better player.

[51:52] Yeah, the self play spot. It's not it's

[51:54] not really him doing anything wrong.

[51:56] Um but yes, time to get into more

[51:58] deranged. That's just the start. So Kiks

[52:00] An

[52:01] How did he manage to get into another

[52:03] tier one team after disaster class on

[52:05] Falcons? Dude had three superstars and

[52:07] managed to only win a singular tier two

[52:08] trophy in two years. Not only that, but

[52:10] his replacement managed to win a major

[52:12] immediately.

[52:14] Do we think What what do we what do we

[52:15] make of Kiks An after Falcons?

[52:18] Cuz there's a lot of this online at the

[52:20] moment after

[52:22] for him.

[52:23] Well, I feel like Falcons wasn't the

[52:25] right spot for for Kiks An at this time

[52:28] in his career. Like he had too good of a

[52:31] team almost

[52:33] because I I really liked him on Apex and

[52:35] and on Heroic. I I think he got more

[52:37] than

[52:38] more than enough out of those rosters.

[52:40] He made them relevant really if

[52:42] especially talking about Apex which I

[52:44] think they they just left Counter-Strike

[52:46] a few months after Kiks An left their

[52:48] team. So you you can see even with that

[52:50] fact how important he was to that team

[52:52] and taking them to them major major

[52:54] playoffs and all that good stuff. So

[52:57] I I this take feels a bit forced to me.

[53:00] This failing upwards for Kiks An.

[53:03] I thought he was pretty pretty wanted in

[53:06] the

[53:07] in the in game leader market. I think

[53:09] there were a lot of teams that were

[53:10] potentially interested in signing Kiks

[53:12] An, right?

[53:13] Yeah, I I agree. And you know, for for

[53:16] all the successes and near misses that

[53:18] Berlin had with mousesports

[53:20] Kiks An is a better in game leader. Like

[53:22] people in the in the space identify

[53:26] that, you know, I would want Kiks An on

[53:27] my team versus a Berlin that if he's

[53:30] going to be the in game leader of the

[53:31] roster, like nobody really knows what to

[53:33] expect perhaps. Um you kind of know what

[53:35] you're getting with Kiks An a bit more.

[53:37] Yeah, and he's going to be able to have

[53:39] more of his ideas as well. Like I think

[53:41] when you're in a team like Falcons, and

[53:43] I think I even wrote this in in the

[53:44] article about carrigan. It's It's

[53:46] actually aged quite well. My my carrigan

[53:48] article, surprisingly. But I basically

[53:49] said, I feel like a play a play like

[53:52] kiks on doesn't really want to be in a

[53:54] team with all these superstars when

[53:55] you're like a 22-year-old in-game leader

[53:57] because from what he kept saying in

[53:58] vlogs it just It felt like there was

[54:00] frustration that he wasn't being

[54:01] listened to. There was frustration that

[54:02] kind of

[54:03] the individualistic nature of Falcons.

[54:05] And it's like, well, you kind of that's

[54:07] kind of the whole thing in Falcons. But

[54:08] a team like Aurora, I think

[54:11] you could see it as a reset, but I could

[54:12] also see a lot of the same issues in

[54:14] terms of is he really going to put the

[54:16] leash on Santares or Vacadius to kind of

[54:19] make the plays they used to? Like I

[54:20] think this is could still be difficult

[54:23] for someone like kiks on who does seem

[54:24] to want a bit more control than he had

[54:25] in Falcons.

[54:26] I don't think it's just about kiks on

[54:27] though, you know, that's where Ash is

[54:29] supposed to be able to demand a bit more

[54:31] respect, you know?

[54:33] Uh he understands that he will be one of

[54:35] the people heavily criticized for the

[54:36] project. I think most of the

[54:38] uh most of the the core recognize that

[54:41] as well. So, if they don't play ball,

[54:43] like there there will be comments made.

[54:45] There will be discussions had about you

[54:47] know, potentially removing players cuz

[54:49] you kind of can't have a system if

[54:51] people don't agree with the system

[54:52] internally.

[54:53] Mhm. And then this other thought he

[54:55] raises the kind of

[54:57] AlexiB comparison,

[54:59] um

[55:00] which is just

[55:02] uh also failed with Manute and Nico and

[55:04] then won a major with 0.0 0.80 rating.

[55:08] Even 19-year-old wonderful unquestioned

[55:09] bit. So, it's

[55:11] could could be a similar arc for kiks on

[55:13] coming up.

[55:14] Um but yes, and the comparison to major

[55:17] as well, I just wanted to highlight this

[55:18] one comment. He doesn't have family

[55:20] responsibilities or burnout. Like cuz

[55:22] burnout's been a huge thing for Aurora.

[55:24] We We talked about those interviews.

[55:25] Fabro was a burnout situation as well. I

[55:27] mean, Ash is coming in also being burnt

[55:30] out. So, it's you know, how how how nice

[55:32] will it be to have a guy who is hungry

[55:35] and young like kiks on

[55:37] basically.

[55:37] [snorts]

[55:39] Yeah, I'm so hungry in fact that 5 years

[55:41] ago Zantares was calling his team a

[55:43] cheater in what the fun fun spark LTE

[55:46] regional qualifiers.

[55:47] Back at Blue Jays.

[55:49] Yeah, back back in back in earlier, I

[55:51] think. It was It was before they got

[55:53] signed to Blue Jays. Kickslide had

[55:56] Yeah, Kickslide had a life map on

[55:58] Inferno and then immediately Zantares

[56:01] crashed out on Twitter.

[56:02] Yeah, that sounds like the online era to

[56:04] me.

[56:05] Um do you guys have any kind of final

[56:08] thoughts, people to thank, the usual?

[56:12] Um Yeah, well, maybe to sum up this

[56:15] whole whole Aurora thing. I think it's

[56:17] it's cool to see. I think all these six

[56:19] guys still haven't reached their apexes

[56:21] of their careers and they have an

[56:23] opportunity to do something special

[56:25] special here and role for role I think

[56:27] all the players are at least at least

[56:29] good to very good to maybe even

[56:30] excellent in in some for for some of

[56:32] these players or or the coach. And as I

[56:36] said, I don't think I don't think these

[56:38] upgrades will instantly make Aurora

[56:40] fight for titles, but I think it says

[56:44] sets them up pretty well for the future

[56:45] when when they will get Donk and and and

[56:47] and Maladroit and and all those players.

[56:51] But yeah, I'm so excited to see Ash

[56:52] Donk. I'm excited to see what what this

[56:54] team is capable of.

[56:55] Yeah, and I'm excited for mainly to see

[56:57] what Ash can sort of bring to this this

[56:59] roster cuz you know, I think there's

[57:01] reasons to be critical of the guy, but

[57:03] if the vision works, you know, people

[57:05] trying to like him into like a blade

[57:07] like character, they play Ash type

[57:09] Counter-Strike. Uh

[57:11] I want to see whether or not Zantares

[57:12] and Woxic can actually really elevate

[57:14] their careers with that style.

[57:16] Yeah, I just I just don't want Ash to

[57:18] get tool puppy syndrome, which is just

[57:20] the the thing that all English coaches

[57:22] have to do. We build you up so we can

[57:24] knock you down. I I want Ash to succeed,

[57:25] so

[57:26] fingers crossed that his takeover works.

[57:29] But yeah, thanks you guys for coming on.

[57:32] Thanks. Thank you.
