  It causes harm. Bitterness and unforgiveness become a spiritual poison that eats away at a person's heart and mind, leading to a broken soul.

  It leads to a spiritual poison. With a heart full of bitterness, one cannot hear God's voice.

  With a bitter heart, we cannot easily hear God's voice or His guidance.

  Holding bitterness in the heart is equivalent to choosing to remain in prison instead of walking in the freedom that Christ provides.

  Furthermore, if the person who hurt us has repented, confessed to Jesus, and received forgiveness, and we do not forgive that person, let us consider where we will stand on the scales of justice.
