[00:02] What's up everybody?
[00:05] [laughter]
[00:06] Man, y'all some morning people.
[00:09] Man, I'm on reserve energy.
[00:11] I'm letting you guys know right now.
[00:12] So, pray for me.
[00:12] All right.
[00:16] My voice is a little raspy.
[00:18] I might sound like a little deep priest, you know, but I need y'all with me.
[00:20] I need y'all to encourage me.
[00:22] Okay.
[00:22] Um, we're going to be going through, obviously, we're going to be going through the Trinity in the Old Testament.
[00:29] And a lot of us are used to the New Testament.
[00:31] We usually argue the deity of Christ in the Gospels, in Paul's letters, that blasphemer.
[00:38] Oh, Paul.
[00:40] You know, why is it always Paul?
[00:42] Everybody got to blame Paul.
[00:44] We're not going to use Paul today.
[00:47] Okay?
[00:47] Is that cool?
[00:49] All right?
[00:49] I'm going to talk to you guys.
[00:51] I need y'all to talk back to me.
[00:53] I like us to be interactive.
[00:55] It's going to be conversational.
[00:55] Okay?
[00:57] We're friends here.
[00:57] We're brothers and sisters, right?
[00:59] Okay.
[00:59] So, yeah, we're not going to use Paul.
[01:01] But you know, we're not going to use John.
[01:01] We really love John.
[01:01] John
[01:03] Really talk about the deity of Christ,
[01:06] We might use him once.
[01:09] Once.
[01:09] That's it.
[01:10] If I use them twice, kick me off the stage.
[01:12] Okay.
[01:12] All right.
[01:12] But once, I promise.
[01:16] John one time.
[01:16] Um, not Matthew, not Luke, not Mark, not the vers.
[01:22] We're going to stick to the Old Testament because a lot of the accusation is that the Trinity is something new.
[01:28] The trinity is something pagan.
[01:30] The trinity is something that Paul made up when he time traveled 300 years later with Constantine at the council of Nika.
[01:36] And then they got together and came up with this trinity doctrine.
[01:40] You guys heard this before.
[01:40] Yeah.
[01:40] Right.
[01:43] Okay.
[01:43] Okay.
[01:43] Cool.
[01:43] So, we know how Paul time traveled.
[01:46] All right.
[01:46] So, with this being said, we're going to demonstrate that the Trinity is fluent throughout the Old Testament.
[01:57] As a matter of fact, ladies and gentlemen, I'm going to barely leave Genesis.
[02:02] We're going to demonstrate the trinity.
[02:04] In the book of Genesis, Exodus, and so on, but mainly in Genesis because God gives us a hint of his plurality within his uh singularity right in the beginning.
[02:18] And this is important.
[02:21] Obviously, we already know we got that God created the heavens and the earth, right?
[02:26] In verse two of Genesis chapter 1, that the spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
[02:32] Now, when we look at the Old Testament, this doesn't really seem at face value something that deep.
[02:39] We have God who created the heavens and the earth.
[02:40] Okay, yeah, that's simple, right?
[02:42] He created the heavens and the earth.
[02:44] The spirit of God hovered over the face of the of the waters, over the depths.
[02:49] Okay, cool.
[02:49] But why why is that significant?
[02:52] What what makes that significant?
[02:55] Well, when we look throughout the Old Testament, we see that creation is attributed not just to the father, but also to the word of the father and also to the spirit of the
[03:07] Father, the spirit of God.
[03:09] So, for example, we have Psalm 104.
[03:12] You guys taking notes?
[03:13] Cuz we there's only one thing we do around here, ladies and gentlemen.
[03:16] What is that?
[03:17] We just read.
[03:19] We're going to do a lot of reading, y'all.
[03:20] All right.
[03:20] All right, I don't got no slides, but we got we got some we got some scriptures.
[03:24] So, make sure you guys take notes because I want you guys to use this in your ministry.
[03:29] Use this in your dialogues with other people who challenge the Trinity, who challenge your belief.
[03:33] Okay.
[03:37] Psalm 104, starting at verse 29, we're going to do 29 and 30.
[03:40] Psalm 104, 29 and 30.
[03:43] It says this, "You hide your face and they are dismayed.
[03:47] You take away their spirit, they they breathe their last and they return to dust.
[03:56] Verse 30, here it is.
[03:59] And you send forth your spirit and they are created.
[04:04] You renew the face of the ground.
[04:07] Notice this.
[04:11] It's by the spirit of God that man is created.
[04:14] And it's by the spirit of God that the ground is renewed.
[04:18] Remember the spirit hovering over the waters.
[04:21] The spirit hovering over the waters is a euphemism for the spirit actively watching over creation.
[04:26] Like an eagle hovers over the eggs or hovers over the ground hunting for food.
[04:31] The spirit of God is hovering over the waters.
[04:36] The spirit of God is renewing the ground.
[04:39] He sends his spirit and they are created.
[04:43] That's one.
[04:43] Here we go again.
[04:47] We got Job chapter 33.
[04:49] Mark this down ladies and gents.
[04:52] Job chapter 33 verse number four.
[04:55] This is what Job says.
[04:57] It says, "The spirit of God has made me and the breath of the Almighty gives me life."
[05:07] Notice in this pattern, the spirit of
[05:10] God, the Holy Spirit is responsible for creation.
[05:16] Yet he is distinct from the father.
[05:20] He's the spirit of God.
[05:23] Distinct from God at the same time, yet one in essence with him.
[05:29] How is it that we explain this?
[05:33] How is it that we can get around this?
[05:35] So we have the spirit who creates.
[05:38] It's the word who creates.
[05:40] It's the father who creates.
[05:43] But yet the scripture is very clear, ladies and gentlemen, that it's one God who created all things.
[05:48] Deuteronomy chapter 6, verse 4.
[05:50] Muslims quote this all the time.
[05:52] Here, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.
[05:55] Correct?
[05:59] There's only one God, right?
[06:00] There's only one God, one divine essence, one divine being.
[06:06] Yet, we see that it's the spirit of God who has created us.
[06:10] Renews the ground.
[06:13] And it's by his word that we are created.
[06:15] Now, this is the only time I'm going to use John.
[06:17] Y'all know where I'm going.
[06:19] John chapter 1 verse one.
[06:21] It's the only time I said it.
[06:23] If I use John after this, kick me off the stage.
[06:25] I'll get out of here.
[06:26] All right.
[06:28] I need to get some sleep anyway.
[06:34] John what?
[06:37] In the mining.
[06:41] Wait.
[06:43] Um, sorry.
[06:46] In the beginning.
[06:48] Okay, let me just read.
[06:52] In the be got it.
[06:56] In the beginning, there it is.
[06:58] In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God.
[07:00] So we see that the word is a distinct person who also possesses the divine essence.
[07:02] He's a distinct person from the other one who is also God.
[07:04] It says that he was in the beginning with God all things.
[07:07] Say all things, ladies and gentlemen.
[07:09] Somehow this is a concept that is really
[07:11] Difficult for people to get.
[07:13] Some people don't believe that all things means all things.
[07:15] Can you guys believe that?
[07:17] You go to a Muslim or Jehovah's Witnesses, you say all things, they say, "Yeah, all other things."
[07:23] I mean it don't, it don't, it don't say that though.
[07:27] [laughter] That's not there.
[07:27] It says all things were created through him.
[07:31] And watch this, just to — hey, John was making sure he was clear about this, there's no confusion.
[07:38] He goes on to say, "And without him was not anything made that has been made."
[07:42] Pretty clear, right?
[07:47] Am I tripping?
[07:49] That's pretty, that's, that's an explicit verse, is it not?
[07:52] An unequivocal statement, right?
[07:56] That the word of God created all things and yet is distinct from the God that he's with, the father.
[08:05] And we see later on, obviously, the word became flesh.
[08:06] We beheld his glory as the only begotten son of the father, full of grace and truth.
[08:10] So, we have the spirit.
[08:12] We have the son who creates.
[08:17] We have the uh the father who creates, which is a no-brainer, but just to give you a verse, Deuteronomy 32:6 it says, it says, is this how you repay Yahweh?
[08:31] Is he not your father who created you?
[08:33] Father, that's one.
[08:35] Spirit, that's two.
[08:38] Word, that's three.
[08:40] Sounds like the trinity, doesn't it?
[08:43] Sounds like the trinity is right there in the scripture.
[08:47] It's not something we have to philosophize.
[08:49] It's not something we have to make up.
[08:51] It's not something we have to read into the text.
[08:53] The text is blatantly clear that there are three that are identified as the creator.
[08:59] As a matter of fact, if this was the case, ladies and gentlemen, I think that it would be appropriate if every now and then we might see God referred to as the creators.
[09:14] The makers, right?
[09:19] If he's triune, we might we might see this type of language.
[09:23] Well, bubble bursting.
[09:25] We actually do.
[09:25] It's right here in Job.
[09:28] In Job, ladies and gentlemen, in Job 35:10, I want you guys to write this one down.
[09:34] Job 35:10, if God is triune, we should expect to see some plural language, some plural adjectives, some plural nouns when it when it comes to God, some plural verbs.
[09:50] Right now, this is what it says.
[09:52] Now, in most English translations, it won't catch it.
[09:54] You got to get to the Hebrew.
[09:57] Okay?
[09:57] Because this is what it says.
[10:01] It says, "But none says, 'Where is God, my makers?'"
[10:05] In the Hebrew, the word is oay.
[10:07] Everybody say, "O."
[10:12] It means my makers plural.
[10:12] The singular
[10:17] Of this word is osa.
[10:20] Say osa.
[10:20] Osa.
[10:22] Really?
[10:22] Hey, that sounds good, man.
[10:22] Kind of, you know.
[10:22] All right.
[10:25] So it's oh say where no one asks, no one says where is God my makers who gives songs in the night.
[10:37] So if God is triune, this is exactly what I expect to see.
[10:41] I expect to see God referred to in the plural when it comes to him being the creator, but still being singular in his essence.
[10:50] This sounds like the trinity, does it not?
[10:54] Yes, this this this looks just like the Trinity.
[10:57] Am I? Are we on the same page here, y'all?
[11:01] So, here it is.
[11:01] We have Ge uh that God is referred to as the makers.
[11:07] Watch this.
[11:07] Here's another one.
[11:10] Psalm 149:2.
[11:15] Psalm 149 verse two.
[11:15] It says, "Let Israel be glad in his
[11:19] Makers.
[11:21] O say.
[11:21] There it is again.
[11:24] Remember this is the plural form of Osa.
[11:28] O say our makers.
[11:28] It says let the children of Zion rejoice in their king.
[11:33] Here we have it again.
[11:36] God referred to in the plurality of creators, trinity one God.
[11:44] A lot of times, like I said, you got to check with the Hebrew.
[11:48] If you have, uh, you know, Bible interlinear, if you have logos, um, use these, use these, uh, devices, use these, uh, platforms to help you look at the interlinear because that will help you see that, uh, you know what the English doesn't really catch out.
[12:02] Okay.
[12:05] Now, like I said, we're going to be using a lot of Genesis because there's this particular figure that a lot of people are confused about, especially the Jews, rabbitic Jews.
[12:15] Rebbitic Jews don't know how to deal with this guy.
[12:18] Anybody guess who I'm talking about?
[12:21] Huh?
[12:22] Say it with your chest.
[12:24] There we go.
[12:24] The angel of the Lord, baby.
[12:27] This is my favorite guy in the Old Testament.
[12:30] Not Moses, not Jacob, the angel of the Lord.
[12:34] Why?
[12:34] Because he speaks like he — he just reminds me of somebody, man.
[12:41] There's — there's somebody the angel of the Lord reminds me of, the way that he operates, the way that he speaks.
[12:46] He speaks as a messenger sent from the father, humbles himself to the father, but also speaks not like saying, 'Here's what the father says, here's what the Lord says,' but he will come to Moses.
[12:59] He'll come to Abraham.
[13:02] He'll come to Hagar.
[13:02] [clears throat] He'll come to Jacob and said, 'I made this covenant with you.'
[13:05] I'm like, who does he think he is?
[13:10] This sounds familiar because this is how — this is how our Lord Jesus speaks.
[13:15] Our Lord Jesus, he comes and he says, 'You have heard it say, you have heard it say, you have heard it say, you have...'
[13:23] Read, but I say to you, I say, here's my command.
[13:28] They it's just kind of like the same kind of guy, isn't it?
[13:34] It's a little interesting, but let's see.
[13:37] You know, I might just be talking.
[13:39] Let's just see.
[13:39] Genesis chapter 28.
[13:41] This angel of the Lord figure.
[13:44] Genesis chapter 28 starting in verse 10.
[13:48] Jacob is on the run.
[13:53] He just stole Esau's birthright.
[13:53] That that conniving Jacob.
[13:55] You know, see this is how you know the Bible's corrupted.
[13:58] Cuz how could how could God pick Jacob?
[14:01] How how could God pick Jacob to be his messenger and to to continue his covenant?
[14:06] It ain't this doesn't this show the Bible got corrupted?
[14:08] No.
[14:08] Y'all silent.
[14:10] Christians, y'all debunked.
[14:12] Christians exposed.
[14:12] Y'all exposed, man.
[14:16] Nah, man.
[14:16] You know I'm a secret mumon.
[14:19] Genesis chapter 28, starting at verse 10, it says, "Then Jacob departed.
[14:25] Beersa and went toward Haram.
[14:27] I'm going to skip down to where he starts having the dream.
[14:29] Verse 12, "Then he had a dream, and behold, a ladder stood on the earth with its top touching heaven.
[14:40] And behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.
[14:45] And behold, watch what it says.
[14:50] Yahweh stood at the top.
[14:52] Yahweh's there.
[14:54] He's seeing Yahweh standing at the top of the staircase.
[14:57] The angels traveling to and fro.
[15:00] Yahweh at the front.
[15:02] And this is what he says.
[15:04] Yahweh stood above it and said, "I am Yahweh."
[15:06] Notice it's very clear verse.
[15:09] I am Yahweh, the God of your father Abraham, and the God of Isaac.
[15:14] The land on which you lie, I will give it to you and to your seed.
[15:17] And your seed will also be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to
[15:26] The east, to the north, to the south,
[15:29] And in you and in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.
[15:37] Notice this, guys.
[15:38] Just as a little sidebar, I know Vocab is here.
[15:40] He deals with a lot of Hebrew Israelites.
[15:43] Notice how Hey, notice how God says here in the beginning when he's making the covenant that it's in you that all the families of the earth will be blessed.
[15:53] He's not just thinking of Israel.
[15:54] He's not just thinking of one family, but every family on the planet has the opportunity of being blessed through the one seed of Jacob, through the Messiah.
[16:05] That's how good our God is.
[16:07] This is the gospel message right now.
[16:09] Watch this.
[16:09] This is important.
[16:12] Then Jacob awoke.
[16:12] He awoke and then he this is what he does.
[16:14] He makes a vow.
[16:17] He says, "Surely Yahweh is in this place and I did not know it."
[16:22] How many times have we been in a place in our lives where we where God was near and we didn't even recognize him?
[16:26] Where God was close by and we
[16:28] Couldn't even we couldn't feel it.
[16:30] We didn't know.
[16:32] But once we get that that that light bulb, it hits.
[16:35] There's a new fire that ignites in us.
[16:37] This is how God reveals himself to his people.
[16:39] So he says, "I didn't know it."
[16:42] And he was afraid and said, "How fearsome is this place?
[16:44] This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven."
[16:50] So Jacob rose up early in the morning, took a stone, put it under that that he put on his head, set it up as a pillar, and poured oil on top of it.
[17:01] He anointed anointed it.
[17:04] And he called the name of the place Bethl, which means house of God.
[17:10] Then Jacob made a vow, saying, "If God will be with me and will keep me on this journey on which I am going, and will give me food to eat, garments to wear, and I return to my father's house in in peace, then Yahweh will be my God."
[17:26] Now guys, I want you guys to pay attention.
[17:26] That vow was important.
[17:26] Who
[17:29] Is he making the vow to Yahweh God?
[17:31] Is that correct?
[17:34] And he says, "If Yahweh will keep me, right, keep me safe, if he'll clothe me, feed me, give me drink, keep me in peace, let me return home safely, if he keeps me on my journey, Yahweh will be my God."
[17:47] That's who he's making his vow to.
[17:50] We all on the same page.
[17:52] All right.
[17:52] Now, let's travel through the Bible with me.
[17:55] Genesis 31.
[17:55] This is 28.
[17:58] Genesis 31.
[18:02] Genesis 31, starting at verse 11.
[18:05] This is good Bible, is it not?
[18:05] This is good Bible.
[18:06] I told you I ain't got no slides for y'all, but I got scripture.
[18:08] All right.
[18:11] Genesis chapter 31, starting at verse 11.
[18:15] It says, "Then the angel of God said to me in a dream, Jacob, and I said, here I am."
[18:26] He said, "Lift up now your eyes and see that all the
[18:30] Male goats which has been which I'm sorry, which are mating and striped, speckled and modeled, for I have seen all that Laban has been doing to you.
[18:43] Now, notice how he's speaking.
[18:45] He doesn't say, "For God has seen what has been happening to you."
[18:48] He doesn't say, "For thus says the Lord, he sees you in your trouble, Jacob."
[18:53] He says, "I have seen you.
[18:55] I have seen all that Laban has been doing to you."
[19:01] Now, watch what he caps this off as.
[19:03] He says, verse 13, "I am the God of Bethl, where you anointed a pillar, where you made a vow to me.
[19:16] Now arise, leave this land, and return to the land of your kin."
[19:23] What did Jacob pray?
[19:26] Jacob prayed, "If he keeps me in this journey, helps me return to my father's house in peace, gives me food
[19:31] To drink, clothes, then Yahweh will be my God.
[19:36] The angel of the Lord says, "That was me who you made a vow to.
[19:39] I'm the God of Bethl.
[19:42] That was my house.
[19:44] That was me standing at the top of this of the of the staircase.
[19:47] That was me in front of all the angels that made a covenant with you that day.
[19:51] It was me."
[19:53] Who does this angel think he is?
[19:54] He clearly says he's God.
[19:57] Unequivocally.
[19:59] Unambiguously.
[20:03] It's an unequivocal statement.
[20:07] It is an unambiguous verse where the angel of the Lord, peace and blessings be from him, says, "I am God."
[20:14] Very clear.
[20:17] Right?
[20:20] Now, here's what's interesting, guys.
[20:21] Notice now I'm ask you guys this.
[20:25] Maybe you guys know the answer to this.
[20:28] Who is the only one who is able to receive sacrifices and worship?
[20:31] Man, not not a lot of you guys know
[20:33] this. Just a few of you. Say it with
[20:36] your chest.
[20:37] Yahweh. God Almighty. Is that correct?
[20:41] So only God Yahweh Almighty can receive
[20:43] sacrifices, can have an altar built to
[20:46] him and in in terms of worship. Is that
[20:49] correct? Now notice this because we're
[20:51] not just talking about bowing down and
[20:53] honoring. We're not just talking about
[20:56] uh you know proaneo where you just you
[20:58] know you just bow down. Jehovah's
[20:59] Witnesses will use this against you.
[21:01] Muslims will use this against you. Oh
[21:02] yeah well the kings will bow down to you
[21:04] know uh you know other people receive
[21:06] this type of honor. But there's a
[21:08] specific type of worship that only God
[21:10] receives. That's altar sacrifices,
[21:15] altar building and worship in that way.
[21:18] You with me? Let's travel through the
[21:20] Bible. Genesis 35,
[21:24] very first verse.
[21:28] Very first verse. Genesis chapter 35.
[21:33] Watch this guys.
[21:36] It says
[21:38] this. Now, this is right before Jacob is
[21:39] about to leave to Bethl like he said he
[21:42] would. It says, "Then God said to Jacob,
[21:46] arise,
[21:48] go up to Bethl and live there, and make
[21:53] an altar there
[21:55] to God, who appeared to you when you
[21:58] fled from your brother, Esau."
[22:01] Did y'all catch that?
[22:02] Yes.
[22:04] God is telling Jacob to build an altar
[22:08] to God that met him in Bethl.
[22:12] Why would God be appealing to another
[22:15] one who is also God and telling him to
[22:18] worship someone else
[22:21] unless this other person who is also God
[22:25] is also Yahweh worthy of worship the
[22:27] most high.
[22:29] Did y'all catch that? This isn't just
[22:31] another prophet or an angel saying,
[22:33] "Hey, this person is worthy of worship."
[22:35] This is God himself deeming that the
[22:38] angel of the Lord is God Almighty worthy
[22:41] of worship. Sound familiar? In Hebrews
[22:44] chapter 1 vers8, it says, "But of the
[22:47] Son, the Father says, "Your throne, oh
[22:49] God, is forever and ever. The scepter of
[22:54] uprightness is the scepter of your
[22:55] kingdom."
[22:57] So in the Old Testament we have God
[22:59] calling God God, the father calling the
[23:02] son God. And in the New Testament we
[23:04] have the father calling the son God.
[23:07] Mutual glorification.
[23:09] The father honors and glorifies the son
[23:12] and the son honors and glorifies the
[23:14] father in both the old and the new
[23:17] testament.
[23:18] Nothing changes guys.
[23:21] Nothing changes. The same thing we see
[23:24] in the new is what we saw in the old.
[23:28] All we got to do is just read.
[23:31] That's it. That's all we got to do is
[23:34] just read the text.
[23:37] And so this is why this is special. So
[23:38] if you want to present this, if you want
[23:40] to present this practically because
[23:41] having this knowledge is good, but
[23:44] presenting it is something else. You see
[23:46] how I presented it to you guys? How I
[23:48] delivered it to y'all? I asked you a
[23:51] question. Who is the only one that can
[23:53] receive altar worship? Have an altar
[23:56] built for them in worship? The obvious
[24:00] answer is Yahweh God Almighty.
[24:03] That's how you start it off. Then you
[24:05] show them Genesis 35:1.
[24:08] Then you show them that God appeals to
[24:12] the other, the angel of the Lord, and
[24:14] says, "Go build an altar for him where
[24:18] you met the God of Bethl."
[24:20] Amen. Now, here it is again. Remember
[24:24] what was uh Jacob asking for? Just a few
[24:26] things. What was he asking for in his
[24:28] vow? Protection. Yes. What's another
[24:31] one?
[24:31] Provision.
[24:32] Provisions.
[24:36] Shelter. That's right. Right. He's
[24:39] asking all these things on this journey.
[24:42] Provisions, shelter,
[24:44] uh uh protection,
[24:47] food, drink. Now, to cap it off, this is
[24:51] Jacob at the end of his life. Genesis
[24:54] 48. Remember I told y'all we barely
[24:56] leave in Genesis, but we're at the end
[24:58] of it. Genesis 48, guys.
[25:03] Starting at verse 15 and 16.
[25:06] Now, here
[25:08] what's happening in context is Jacob
[25:12] finally met up with Joseph in Egypt.
[25:15] And so he meets his grandchildren
[25:19] and he's going to pray over his
[25:20] grandchildren that they be blessed and
[25:23] pray for Joseph and the rest of his sons
[25:25] uh the sons of Israel.
[25:28] And so here we are Genesis 48
[25:32] verse1 15. Watch what he says.
[25:35] And he blessed Joseph and said,
[25:39] "May the God
[25:41] before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac
[25:43] walked, the God who has been my shepherd
[25:49] throughout my life
[25:52] to this day. to this day.
[25:56] The angel
[25:59] who has redeemed me from evil,
[26:02] bless these boys,
[26:05] and may my name live on in them, and the
[26:09] names of my fathers Abraham and Isaac,
[26:12] and may they grow into a multitude in
[26:16] the midst of the earth. Who's he praying
[26:18] to?
[26:20] That's true. He is praying to Yahweh.
[26:22] Now, if we were being specific, which
[26:24] person?
[26:25] The angel.
[26:28] Why in the world is a patriarch of the
[26:32] faith? Why in the world is a prophet of
[26:36] God, a messenger of God, praying to an
[26:40] angel?
[26:42] Why is he referring to the angel as the
[26:45] God who has kept him all his ways to
[26:47] this day? He says,
[26:50] "Why is it that this prophet of God,
[26:52] this patriarch is praying to the angel
[26:55] to make a multitude as if this angel can
[26:58] create, as if this angel can produce
[27:02] life and could command the seed of of
[27:05] Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and Israel
[27:09] as if this angel is Yahweh, God of
[27:13] Bethl, that met him in that dream and
[27:15] said, "If you keep my commands, if you
[27:17] stick to my covenant. I will keep you
[27:19] all the days of your life. Jacob knew
[27:22] who his God was and Jacob was not a
[27:26] Unitarian.
[27:29] [laughter]
[27:31] Sorry JWs.
[27:34] Sorry Mumoon. Sorry Muslims. Jacob, your
[27:37] beloved prophet was not a Unitarian.
[27:41] [laughter]
[27:42] That man was a trinitarian y'all.
[27:45] That man was a trinitarian.
[27:47] So Jacob offers his prayer, his
[27:51] thanksgiving. He builds an altar in
[27:54] worship
[27:55] to the angel of the Lord, the God of
[27:59] Bethl, Yahweh, God Almighty, who's
[28:02] distinct from the Father who even sends
[28:04] the angel.
[28:07] Powerful stuff, isn't it? This is just
[28:09] Genesis. I haven't even got TO ISAIAH
[28:12] YET. LET'S GO TO ISAIAH. COME ON. Isaiah
[28:16] chapter 48. We ain't even did we ain't
[28:18] even got this far yet. This is just
[28:20] Genesis. Now, I could have went to
[28:21] Exodus
[28:22] where the angel of the Lord appears to
[28:25] Moses in the burning bush. We all know
[28:27] that. It's the angel of the Lord that
[28:29] appears to Moses in the fire. And then
[28:31] it says, "And Yahweh spoke to Moses from
[28:34] the midst of the bush. And the angel of
[28:36] the Lord says, I am the God of your
[28:37] fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. My
[28:39] name is Yahweh. That's my name forever."
[28:41] This is where we first get the name
[28:42] Yahweh, guys. It's from the angel of the
[28:45] Lord.
[28:47] Jesus is the first one to claim to be
[28:49] Yahweh, not the father. Deep, isn't it?
[28:54] That's deep. Now, in Isaiah chapter 48,
[29:00] we're going to read verses 12- 16.
[29:04] And I'm going to need y'all to help me
[29:06] with this verse because I have
[29:07] comprehension skills. Uh, you know, lack
[29:09] sometime.
[29:11] It says in verse 12,
[29:14] "Hear me, oh Jacob, even Israel, whom I
[29:18] called. I am he. I am the first.
[29:23] I am also the last." Who's speaking?
[29:28] I I need y'all to talk to me.
[29:30] Thank you. Good grief. Where y'all at?
[29:33] Look, guys, I'm the one who's not a
[29:35] morning person, okay? I'm from America.
[29:38] You guys are like from this. So, this is
[29:40] y'all y'all this afternoon for you guys.
[29:42] This is this is like 2 am for me right
[29:45] now. Okay. I need y'all's help. Okay.
[29:49] Help me out. Help help me help you. All
[29:52] right. Who's speaking?
[29:56] Thank you. Absolutely. Now, see, I can't
[29:58] sometimes I don't understand that
[29:59] sometimes. You know, I've, you know,
[30:00] reading comprehension when I talk to the
[30:02] Muslims, they they don't know who talks.
[30:03] All of a sudden, Yahweh is speaking. He
[30:06] continues and says, "Also, my hand
[30:10] founded the earth and my right hand
[30:13] spread out the heavens. When I called to
[30:15] them, they stand together." Who's
[30:18] speaking?
[30:19] Yahweh speaking. Okay. Assemble all of
[30:22] you and hear. Who among them has
[30:26] declared these things? Yahweh loves him.
[30:29] He will carry out his good pleasure on
[30:31] Babylon and his arm will be against the
[30:35] Chaldanss.
[30:36] I even I have spoken. Indeed, I have
[30:40] called him. I have brought him and he
[30:44] will make his ways successful. Who's
[30:46] speaking?
[30:48] So, no speaker changes here, right?
[30:50] Yahweh's been speaking this whole time.
[30:52] Okay. All right. Well, let's continue.
[30:55] Verse 16. Draw near to me. Hear this.
[31:00] From the first, I have spoken. I have
[31:02] not spoken in secret.
[31:06] From the time it took place, I was
[31:07] there. Who's speaking?
[31:10] He then goes on to say, "So now the Lord
[31:13] Yahweh has sent me and his spirit."
[31:23] Wait, does anybody have glasses?
[31:26] I mean, I don't need him, but I might
[31:27] need him for this cuz let me just zoom
[31:30] in real quick.
[31:32] So, now the Lord Yahweh
[31:35] has sent me and his spirit. Hold on. So,
[31:41] Yahweh is sent by Yahweh with the
[31:45] spirit. Hold on, guys. Help me. Can
[31:48] Yahweh, how many is that?
[31:50] Yahweh one, the speaker has
[31:54] sent me. How many is that?
[31:57] And his spirit. How many is that?
[31:59] But hold on a second. Yahweh is one.
[32:03] Yahweh here. O Israel. Yahweh our God.
[32:06] Yahweh is one.
[32:09] Why do I see three?
[32:12] See, I knew Christians believe one
[32:13] equals three. I knew it. 1 plus 1 plus 1
[32:18] equals equals 1. According to
[32:20] Christians, I knew it. Here we have a
[32:25] clear example where Yahweh the speaker
[32:29] refers to Yahweh who sends him with the
[32:33] spirit of Yahweh who's also being sent.
[32:36] One, two, three. Trinity in the Old
[32:40] Testament.
[32:41] Can it get any clearer than this?
[32:45] In light of guys, because remember,
[32:48] we started with the beginning. We built
[32:51] up to this, which is what the scripture
[32:52] does. The scripture builds up to this.
[32:56] It doesn't just give you this randomly.
[32:58] It's going to show you this in
[33:00] scripture. That way, when you see
[33:03] something like this, you ain't
[33:04] surprised.
[33:05] By the time you get to Isaiah, which is
[33:09] generations after Genesis, obviously, by
[33:13] the time you get to Isaiah, when you see
[33:15] a plurality within Yahweh, you ain't
[33:18] surprised. You ain't confused, cuz God
[33:22] already told you this.
[33:25] Am I right?
[33:27] He's already made this clear. Here's
[33:30] another example I like to see. Isaiah
[33:32] 63.
[33:34] I love this passage.
[33:37] I love this passage.
[33:40] Starting at verse number 7. It's very
[33:42] beautiful.
[33:45] Very beautiful.
[33:48] Isaiah 63, starting at verse number
[33:50] seven.
[33:54] It says,"I shall bring to remembrance
[33:57] the loving kindness of Yahweh,
[34:00] the praises of Yahweh, according to all
[34:03] the ways that Yahweh has dealt
[34:05] bountifully with us, and the abundant
[34:08] goodness toward the house of Israel,
[34:11] which he has dealt bountifully to them,
[34:14] according to his compassion, and
[34:16] according to the abundance of his loving
[34:18] kindness."
[34:20] And he said, "Surely they are my people,
[34:24] sons who will not deal falsely." He
[34:28] became their savior.
[34:31] In all their distress, he was
[34:33] distressed.
[34:35] And the angel of his presence saved
[34:38] them. Wait a second. It just said that
[34:41] Yahweh became their savior. Then it just
[34:44] identified that it was the angel of his
[34:46] presence that became their savior. How
[34:49] many is that? So far,
[34:51] that's two. Isaiah 63, y'all. Isaiah 63.
[34:57] The angel of his presence. There he is
[34:59] again. I love that thing. I I just love
[35:01] that guy. He's always popping up
[35:02] everywhere. The angel of his presence
[35:06] saved them.
[35:08] Man, I got this. This Bible's so good. I
[35:10] lost my place. My goodness. Verse nine,
[35:12] here we are. In all their distress, he
[35:15] was distressed. The angel of his
[35:17] presence saved them. In his love and in
[35:20] his mercy, he redeemed them. Notice how
[35:23] it's referring to them in the singular
[35:25] now. And he lifted them and carried them
[35:28] all the ancient days. But they rebelled
[35:32] and grieved his holy spirit. How many is
[35:36] that?
[35:37] That's the that Holy Spirit be popping
[35:39] up too, don't he?
[35:41] They grieved his holy spirit. Can you
[35:43] grieve electricity, y'all?
[35:46] No. Can you grieve the Star Wars force?
[35:48] Can the Star Wars force feel grief? Can
[35:51] this Can a power feel grieved? This
[35:54] shows personhood. Correct. This shows
[35:57] character. The Holy Spirit is not just a
[35:59] force or a power, some type of energy.
[36:02] The Holy Spirit feels
[36:05] right.
[36:07] He grieve. They grieved his Holy Spirit.
[36:09] Therefore, he turned himself to become
[36:11] their enemy. He fought against them.
[36:13] Verse 11. Then his people remembered the
[36:16] ancient days of Moses. Where he Where is
[36:19] he who brought them up out of the sea
[36:23] with the shepherds of his flock? Where
[36:26] is he who put the Holy Spirit in the
[36:29] midst of them? Who caused his glorious
[36:32] arm to go at the right hand of Moses?
[36:35] Who split the waters before them to make
[36:38] for himself an everlasting name? Who led
[36:42] them through the depths. Now this is
[36:43] interesting guys.
[36:45] This arm of the Lord. This is the second
[36:47] time he mentioned this in this passage.
[36:49] This arm of the Lord. This arm of the
[36:50] Lord. You guys familiar with this
[36:51] phrase. This arm of the Lord. It says
[36:54] that the arm of the Lord is the one who
[36:56] split the sea. The arm of the Lord is
[36:59] the one who split the sea and carried
[37:02] Israel through the depths.
[37:04] Now at first place this arm of the Lord
[37:07] sounds like just the power of God by by
[37:09] which he acts or something. But really,
[37:12] the arm of the Lord is a person.
[37:16] It's another title for someone familiar.
[37:18] Go to Isaiah 53, guys.
[37:22] Isaiah 53. Remember this arm of the Lord
[37:25] is the one who saved them from Egypt.
[37:30] Isaiah 53.
[37:34] Is this good Bible?
[37:36] This this good Bible, ain't it? And the
[37:39] truth. I'm telling you, it's the truth.
[37:42] That Bible, the truth. Can't do nothing
[37:44] with the truth. And if you're not going
[37:47] with the truth, then you're lying.
[37:51] Isaiah 53,
[37:53] watch what it says in verse one.
[37:56] Who has believed our report?
[38:00] And to whom has the arm of the Lord been
[38:03] revealed? There, there it is again, the
[38:06] arm of the Lord. Then it describes the
[38:08] arm of the Lord. For he
[38:12] grew up before him like a tender chute.
[38:15] And like a root out of dry ground, he
[38:18] has no majesty. The arm of the Lord, it
[38:20] wasn't nothing special. Didn't look
[38:21] special to us. The arm of the Lord had
[38:25] no majesty that we should look at him.
[38:28] No desire, no appearance that we should
[38:30] desire him. He, the arm of the Lord, was
[38:33] despised and forsaken by men. A man of
[38:37] sorrows. A man
[38:39] who who who
[38:42] they talking about?
[38:44] Say it with the test.
[38:46] Jesus Christ.
[38:49] The arm of the Lord, the angel of the
[38:51] Lord is none other than our Lord and
[38:53] Savior Jesus the Christ.
[38:56] Notice this. The arm of the Lord that
[38:59] shows up throughout the Old Testament.
[39:01] The one who saved Israel out of the out
[39:03] of Egypt, carried them through the
[39:06] waters, split the sea, is none other
[39:09] than the pre-incarnate Christ, who was
[39:12] still doing his thing way back then.
[39:15] Still active, still graceful, still full
[39:18] of truth, still full of faith, saving
[39:21] his people, a stubborn people like you
[39:23] and me.
[39:25] Active.
[39:27] Now, this I love to parallel.
[39:30] Jude, the book of Jude
[39:33] 1. There's only one chapter honestly,
[39:35] but Jude 1, verse number five.
[39:43] Really, you want to use verse four and
[39:44] five. Get four and five. We'll do four
[39:46] and five because I'm going to show you
[39:48] guys how to answer an objection. Okay.
[39:52] Jude 4 and five. It says, you guys all
[39:55] there? We all there together? Okay,
[39:57] good. It says, 'For certain people,
[39:59] verse four, have crept in unnoticed,
[40:02] those who were long beforehand marked
[40:05] out for this condemnation, ungodly
[40:08] persons
[40:09] who turn the grace of our God into
[40:11] sensuality and deny our only master and
[40:15] lord, Jesus Christ. Who's our only
[40:18] master and lord, ladies and gentlemen?
[40:20] Jesus Christ. That's right. Now, watch
[40:24] what it says here in verse five.
[40:26] Now I want to remind you, I want to
[40:29] bring back to your remembrance
[40:31] though you know all things that Jesus
[40:36] having once saved a people out of the
[40:39] land of Egypt subsequently destroyed
[40:42] those who did not believe. Whoa.
[40:47] Jude just said it was Jesus who saved
[40:51] the people out of the land of Egypt.
[40:55] When we go back and look at it, it says
[40:58] it's the angel of the Lord who split the
[41:00] sea and saved the people out of the land
[41:01] of Egypt.
[41:03] When we go back further, it says that
[41:04] it's Yahweh who saved the people out of
[41:06] the land of Egypt. Who does that make
[41:08] Jesus, ladies and gentlemen?
[41:10] Yahweh, God most high.
[41:13] Jesus is the one who saved the people
[41:14] out of the land of Egypt. Now, here's a
[41:16] caveat.
[41:18] A sharp Jehovah's Witness or Muslim or
[41:21] any Unitarian will say, "Well, there's a
[41:23] textual variant here."
[41:25] In another manuscript, it doesn't say
[41:27] Jesus. It says Lord. See? Ha. Gotcha.
[41:32] It says Lord, not Jesus.
[41:36] According to verse four, who's the Lord,
[41:37] y'all?
[41:39] Our only master and Lord, it says,
[41:41] right? So it doesn't matter which
[41:43] manuscript you use, but and by the way,
[41:45] the earliest manuscripts say Jesus by
[41:47] name, but it's okay. We don't we don't
[41:49] it don't matter to us. Jesus, Lord, same
[41:51] thing. You know, my tomato tomato, you
[41:53] know, same thing. Verse four in context
[41:57] tells us who the Lord is. Christ, our
[42:00] only master and lord Jesus Christ. So
[42:02] even if it said, and to remind you that
[42:05] it was the Lord who saved the people out
[42:07] of the land of Egypt, it just is talking
[42:09] about Jesus in context.
[42:12] Either way you go, Jesus is Yahweh, God,
[42:15] who saved the people out of the land of
[42:17] Egypt. The Bible is unambiguous.
[42:23] The Bible is unequivocal
[42:27] that the father may his peace be upon
[42:29] us, the son, may his peace be upon us,
[42:33] and the holy spirit, may his peace be
[42:37] upon us,
[42:38] are all the same God.
[42:50] We didn't have to philosophize it.
[42:53] We didn't [laughter]
[42:54] we didn't have to, you know, manipulate
[42:57] it. We didn't have to come up with some
[42:58] story. We saw both in the Old Testament
[43:03] and the New Testament, the Trinity is
[43:07] biblical.
[43:09] Your belief is biblical. Your belief is
[43:13] it stands on scripture.
[43:17] Learn this. Let it become second nature
[43:21] to you. Bleed this. Bleed these
[43:24] scriptures, these texts. Learn how to
[43:26] communicate it. Learn how to present it.
[43:28] And I promise you, your ministry, your
[43:31] gospel ministry, and presenting the
[43:33] gospel, sharing the gospel, defending
[43:35] the gospel will go up a hundred times.
[43:39] Amen.
[43:40] Thank you, ladies and gentlemen. I
[43:42] appreciate you.
[43:51] Is there time for questions or
[43:52] Q&A?
[43:53] Yeah, sure.
[43:54] Anyone questions? All right.
[43:58] Yeah.
[43:59] What's D and Jill? [laughter]
[44:02] That's really our only questions till
[44:04] this day.
[44:05] Ivory, you knocked another one out of
[44:07] the park. So, thank you for coming and
[44:09] doing a good job. Um, I just want to get
[44:11] your take on Isaiah 41:4. Okay, let's go
[44:15] ahead and get the Bible up.
[44:18] Isaiah 41:4.
[44:25] All right. It says,
[44:28] "Who has worked and done it, calling
[44:31] both uh calling forth the generations
[44:34] from the beginning, I Yahweh am the
[44:36] first, and with the last, I am he."
[44:37] Yeah.
[44:41] My attention. I'm trying to draw your
[44:43] attention to what it says there in the
[44:46] second part of that.
[44:48] The first and the last.
[44:49] I am with the last is what it says. It
[44:52] doesn't say I'm the first and the last.
[44:53] It says that elsewhere in in um Isaiah
[44:56] obviously,
[44:57] but specifically it says I am with the
[45:00] last, implying that there is even within
[45:03] first and the last, there is some kind
[45:05] of plurality.
[45:07] Um that's a I never thought of it that
[45:09] way. I'm not going to lie to you. You
[45:10] might need to come up here, man.
[45:13] Now, for I I haven't uh I've never
[45:15] looked at that in that way. It's really
[45:17] interesting. I think you're on to
[45:18] something. I I'll look deeper into that
[45:19] to see if there's some substance with
[45:22] that. If uh him not just being the last,
[45:25] but being with the last would indicate
[45:28] another person that he's also there
[45:30] that's also never ending. It's a good
[45:32] point, man. It's a really good point.
[45:36] I agree.
[45:37] Uh it's out of the question actually. Uh
[45:39] it's uh I was traveling the third part
[45:41] of the night. I found a shin [laughter]
[45:45] and two
[45:47] right gloves.
[45:48] No, you didn't.
[45:49] I I don't know who was
[45:50] But you did you didn't find the NGO
[45:52] though. [laughter]
[45:54] Oh, man. You was able to find a shin the
[45:56] two right but not not the NGO
[45:58] and the two right hands.
[45:59] That's tough. That's tough. [laughter]
[46:01] Praise God, man. God bless you.
[46:03] Please let me out.
[46:04] Look, if there's anybody that can find
[46:05] that in jail, I think it's going to be
[46:07] you.
[46:08] Sorry, could you make clear to me the
[46:10] the arm of the Lord being Jesus, please?
[46:13] I got sort of
[46:14] mixed up, but not mixed up. We're very
[46:17] clear that when he says the arm of the
[46:19] Lord is referring to the Lord Jesus
[46:20] Christ, please.
[46:22] Uh, is he are you asking to clarify the
[46:24] arm of the Lord being Jesus?
[46:26] Yes. Okay. Yeah, sure. So, so a few
[46:29] things.
[46:31] Okay. So in Isaiah 63, it identified the
[46:37] arm of the Lord as the one saving Israel
[46:39] from the land of Egypt, right? And just
[46:43] right uh before that, it mentioned that
[46:45] the angel of his presence is the one who
[46:47] saved them from the land of Egypt. So
[46:49] these will be two different titles of
[46:51] the same person. The angel of the Lord,
[46:53] arm of the Lord, it's the same person.
[46:55] Right? Now, how do we connect that this
[46:57] is Jesus? Well, in Isaiah 53,
[47:02] it's very Isaiah 53 is clearly about
[47:04] Jesus, right? The suffering Messiah
[47:05] takes on our sins. But in Isaiah 53, it
[47:10] calls him the arm of the Lord. So it
[47:12] says, "Who has believed what he has
[47:14] heard from us? To whom has the arm of
[47:17] the Lord been revealed? For he grew up
[47:20] before him like a tender chute out of
[47:22] dry ground." So starts talking about the
[47:23] arm of the Lord as a person who is now
[47:26] this person who has come to his people
[47:28] and is suffering and giving his life for
[47:32] uh for for everyone else. You see the
[47:34] you see the connection. Awesome.
[47:38] Uh well he he's controlling all of it. I
[47:40] see you.
[47:41] Yeah. Yeah. So my question is I never
[47:44] heard this argument from Muslims but
[47:46] from the Unitarians.
[47:47] Yeah. How would you deal with the
[47:48] singular pronouns that they say that
[47:51] it's over 2,000 times in the Old
[47:54] Testament? How would you turn the
[47:55] objections against them?
[47:56] Yeah, that's exactly what we we should
[47:58] expect. If God is singular and plural,
[48:00] we should also see singular pronouns.
[48:03] Like, for example, now here's what's
[48:05] interesting because a if a unitarian
[48:07] brings such a weak argument like that
[48:08] of, which they do, all you got to do is
[48:10] just show them where God speaks with
[48:12] plural pronouns and then they're done.
[48:14] That's one. Now, if you want to have fun
[48:16] with it,
[48:20] you use those singular pronouns against
[48:22] them. For example, in Isaiah 44:4, it
[48:26] says this. Yahweh says, "I alone
[48:31] created the heavens and the earth. I
[48:34] stretched out the heavens by myself."
[48:38] See, singular pronouns, exclusive
[48:41] language. Nobody else was with them.
[48:43] Right? So with a unitarian they believe
[48:46] in both old and new. So for the
[48:48] unitarian they believe that Jesus was
[48:51] the one who the father used to create
[48:53] all things. So we have ourselves a
[48:56] contradiction here ladies and gentlemen.
[48:58] Yahweh says that he created all things
[49:00] singular pronouns by himself all alone
[49:03] nobody with him. But yet it says that
[49:05] it's through Jesus that all things were
[49:07] created. So was Yahweh by himself or did
[49:11] he have help? since you want to hang on
[49:13] singular pronouns. Let's have fun with
[49:15] it. Right? So, that's how you can turn
[49:18] their argument against them because then
[49:20] they're going to have to they're going
[49:21] to have to deal with that and none of
[49:23] them can. None of them can. I promise
[49:26] you,
[49:29] God lo [laughter]
[49:31] you're amazing. So, I know we don't do
[49:33] the Trinity in the New Testament, but
[49:35] I've heard from Muslims, even though we
[49:37] give them these verses and explanations
[49:38] that the Trinity is in the Old
[49:40] Testament, they would say, "Okay, if
[49:43] it's in the Old Testament, we expect
[49:45] Jesus in the New Testament at least to
[49:47] teach or to mention the Trinity and that
[49:50] they're co-equal in uh in in their
[49:53] sense." So, how can we answer this this
[49:56] question? Um, there's a
[50:00] there's a couple ways you could do that.
[50:02] Number one, you use the pattern that we
[50:06] just used in the Old Testament. You see
[50:07] how in the Old Testament, you don't have
[50:09] a
[50:11] God is triune one and three person. You
[50:14] don't have a text like that. You'll
[50:15] never do that. Never find that. That's
[50:16] not how we come up with our doctrine.
[50:18] Our doctrine is built on the multitude
[50:21] of scriptures on the topic and then we
[50:24] get our conclusion, right? on the
[50:26] context of scripture. So what you can
[50:28] explain is how Jesus throughout the New
[50:31] Testament demonstrates his divinity, the
[50:35] father's divinity, and the Holy Spirit's
[50:37] divinity, right? And so by default, they
[50:40] are all God, right? You have the Holy
[50:43] Spirit. He man, he goes ham on the Holy
[50:46] Spirit. Ham because Muslims see um he he
[50:50] really goes crazy with the Holy Spirit.
[50:52] um in John chapters 14:15 and 16 right
[50:55] where he talks about the spirit who
[50:57] proceeds from the father's essence
[50:59] meaning he shares the same essence as
[51:01] the father he's the same whatness of the
[51:03] father right um that's one way you could
[51:05] do it here's another way you could do it
[51:07] real fun way to do it you can ask a
[51:09] Muslim
[51:11] um can you go can you ever say that I'm
[51:15] going to go perform salat which is
[51:17] prayer in the name of Allah Jabril and
[51:20] Muhammad
[51:21] Their answer would be obviously no. You
[51:24] want to ask them why not. They said
[51:28] because that would be shock associating
[51:31] partners with Allah. We can only do
[51:33] things in the name of Allah. Excellent.
[51:35] You say I agree with you 100%. And make
[51:38] sure you do the hand signals too.
[51:40] [laughter]
[51:41] Really, you know, got to, you know,
[51:42] become all things to all people, right?
[51:45] So you that that's what you asked them,
[51:48] right? So you agree with them? Yes, I
[51:49] agree. That would be associating
[51:52] partners with Allah. So then when Jesus
[51:55] says go and baptize in the name of the
[52:00] father, the son and the holy spirit,
[52:04] you then ask them would this is this a
[52:07] statement of sherp? They have to say yes
[52:10] because Jesus just associated himself
[52:13] and the spirit with the father making
[52:16] them equal in their essence.
[52:21] Hi, Logic.
[52:22] What up, Tiger?
[52:23] What up? [laughter] Um, so I've got a
[52:25] question. So, we usually deal with the
[52:28] Unitarians, but I want to bring in the
[52:30] oneness who agree with us that Jesus is
[52:32] God.
[52:32] Yeah.
[52:33] So, two scriptures, Isaiah 9:6 and John
[52:36] 14, cuz that's the one that they usually
[52:38] bring where they're like, um, so
[52:40] obviously the son is called everlasting
[52:42] father. So, they'll say that's identity.
[52:45] And then John 14 where they say, "See,
[52:47] look, Jesus said, when you see me, you
[52:49] see the father, so I'm now the father."
[52:51] How do you deal with that?
[52:52] Yeah.
[52:52] Yeah.
[52:53] How would you deal with that?
[52:55] Pray with me on the spot. [laughter]
[52:59] How would [snorts] you answer that,
[53:00] Tiger?
[53:01] Okay.
[53:01] Isaiah 9:6. First,
[53:02] Isaiah 9:6. Obviously, the question I
[53:05] would usually ask is, "Is the father a
[53:07] prince?" They would have to say no. So,
[53:09] everlasting father,
[53:10] what if they said yes?
[53:13] They would have to show where
[53:15] right there in Isaiah 96, the father is
[53:16] a prince. Clearly.
[53:19] Okay. So, I would um I would show them
[53:23] that everlasting father. Here the title
[53:27] is aviard. Aviard instead of aviol. So,
[53:32] it would quite literally go with the
[53:34] book in acts where it calls him, it's
[53:36] calling him the owner of everlasting.
[53:39] Yes. The same way Abraham is also called
[53:42] the father of the nations. That wouldn't
[53:44] be an identity statement. That would be
[53:46] a title. And it says a child is born, a
[53:50] son is given. It doesn't say a father is
[53:53] given. So the son came before the name.
[53:55] But the son is the father.
[53:58] So then why does it say the son was
[54:00] given and he will be called everlasting
[54:02] father? Not that he's identified.
[54:04] Because the son is being identified as
[54:06] the father there clearly.
[54:08] [laughter]
[54:10] cooked.
[54:12] That's crazy because your answer was
[54:14] really good.
[54:15] Um, number one, you're right.
[54:17] It's a quality it's describing. It's not
[54:19] describing identity, right? The
[54:21] qualities of the son. Father of
[54:22] eternity, prince of peace, wonderful
[54:24] counselor, mighty God. These are
[54:26] qualities of who this son that's given
[54:29] is. Now, you mentioned it mentions that
[54:32] the son is given. My question would be
[54:35] who gave him?
[54:37] Who gave the son
[54:40] if for something to be given that
[54:41] requires two parties, right? And that's
[54:44] what I would actually ask first. For
[54:46] something to be given that requires at
[54:48] least two parties. Is that correct? They
[54:50] would have to say yes. Or unless you
[54:51] just kick them off the stage because
[54:52] they're, you know, thanks for coming,
[54:54] man. Watch your head. Right. But it
[54:57] takes it takes at least two for one to
[54:59] be given and someone to receive. So who
[55:02] in the world is giving the son? It says
[55:05] the the son was given. who gave him?
[55:07] That's number one. Number two, the
[55:08] quality is obviously yes, it's he's he's
[55:12] the owner of everlasting, the source of
[55:15] eternal life. That's what it means to be
[55:16] the f like Abraham is the source of all
[55:18] these nations, right? So is the son the
[55:22] source of eternal life, not that he is
[55:23] the heavenly father of the person. So
[55:26] you break that down. You did that
[55:27] beautifully. That was good. You see, you
[55:28] got it. You didn't you didn't need me.
[55:32] Clap it up for a tiger, y'all. You know
[55:38] in Mark 13:32, something that keeps on
[55:40] getting thrown at us is about Jesus not
[55:43] knowing the hour.
[55:44] Yeah.
[55:44] How would you answer that?
[55:45] Uh, so if you go to God logic
[55:47] apologetics like [laughter]
[55:50] there's like a thousand videos.
[55:53] Ah, all right. I'll break this down
[55:54] again. Um, so Jesus not knowing the
[55:58] hour. Obviously, we know that Christ is
[55:59] all knowing. How do we know this? The
[56:01] Bible says it. John 16
[56:04] um verse 30 verse 29 and 30. Uh the
[56:08] disciple says now we know that you have
[56:11] come from God because you speak clearly.
[56:14] Now we know that you know all things.
[56:17] Jesus doesn't say hold on stop it. Hold
[56:19] a second. I don't know all things. Only
[56:22] God knows all things. He says do you now
[56:24] believe? So Jesus affirms his
[56:27] omniscience that he's all knowing. We
[56:29] have another passage John 20 where or is
[56:32] it 21? John 21 where uh Peter says Lord
[56:37] why do you keep asking me if I love you?
[56:39] You know that I love you. You know all
[56:41] things. Now this one is special because
[56:44] this context of Jesus knowing is knowing
[56:47] the heart of Peter. The Bible says that
[56:49] it's Yahweh alone who knows and searches
[56:51] the hearts of man. So Peter is appealing
[56:54] to Jesus knowing his heart. Why are you
[56:56] asking me this? You know, right? So
[56:59] another passage that Jesus knows all
[57:01] things. So the Bible is clear. Here's
[57:04] another thing. Mark literally starts off
[57:07] with Jesus being the most high God in
[57:10] chapter one. Mark chapter 1, it
[57:13] identifies Jesus as Yahweh who comes
[57:15] after his messenger is sent in the
[57:17] wilderness. Okay? Prepared way before
[57:20] me. Yahweh speaking. So Mark says that
[57:24] Jesus is Yahweh who comes after John the
[57:26] Baptist. So we already know that Jesus
[57:29] is God. He's all knowing. He's all
[57:31] powerful. He's the creator. So in no
[57:33] way, shape or form is then Mark going to
[57:35] then later demonstrate that Jesus is not
[57:38] God contextually. That makes absolutely
[57:40] no sense. So then how do we see this?
[57:42] Now in Mark 13:32, he uses the word
[57:46] oiden
[57:47] for no. He says, "No man, no one knows
[57:51] the hour, no man knows, nor the angels,
[57:53] nor the son, but the father only." The
[57:56] word oiden there for know. Contextually
[58:00] the word oiden can also be used to tell
[58:02] something to make something known to
[58:04] others. You see this example in 1
[58:06] Corinthians chapter 2 verse two. Paul
[58:08] says to the Corinthians when I came to
[58:11] you I decided to know nothing or he
[58:15] didn't except Jesus Christ and him
[58:18] crucified. Now, when Paul says, "I
[58:20] decided to know nothing," does this mean
[58:23] that Paul literally didn't know anything
[58:25] else? That he had no other knowledge?
[58:28] No. It just means when he came to the
[58:30] Corinthians, the only thing he focused
[58:33] on making known to them, declaring to
[58:35] them is the crucifixion. This is the
[58:37] gospel, right? So, we see that it could
[58:40] be used to declare something. Now,
[58:43] here's another way. Um the in Luke
[58:46] chapter 20, I I actually love this
[58:48] example. In Luke chapter 20, you have
[58:51] the uh the Sadducees and the Pharisees.
[58:53] They come to Jesus and they ask him, "By
[58:55] what authority do you do these things,
[58:58] right?" And Jesus said, "I'll tell you
[59:02] if you tell me something.
[59:05] I'll answer you if you answer me." He
[59:07] says, "Was John's baptism
[59:11] from heaven or from men?
[59:14] They reasoned upon themselves. If we say
[59:16] from heaven, then he'll say, "Then why
[59:18] didn't you believe him? If we say from
[59:20] men, then we'll get stoned because the
[59:21] people knew he was a prophet." So they
[59:23] then turn to him and say, "We don't
[59:25] know."
[59:27] And Jesus says, "Then neither will I
[59:30] tell you by what authority I do these
[59:32] things." Notice Jesus doesn't say,
[59:34] "Neither neither then I don't know
[59:37] either." But he says, "Neither will I
[59:39] tell you by which authority I do these
[59:41] things." The context is telling is
[59:44] declaring.
[59:45] So the the Sadducees the authorities are
[59:47] saying we don't want to say we don't
[59:49] want to tell you we can't say. So then
[59:52] Jesus said neither can I say neither
[59:54] will I tell you. It's mutual. You see so
[59:57] it's in telling. So it's not for anyone
[59:59] to tell the hour to declare the hour.
[01:00:02] This is for the father to do only.
[01:00:04] That's his job. Right? Now you see Jesus
[01:00:07] compares his coming to a Jewish wedding
[01:00:09] multiple times. Jesus is the bridegroom.
[01:00:11] right? Who comes? He says the bridegroom
[01:00:13] is here. Soon he will leave, but he's
[01:00:16] going to come back. The father throws uh
[01:00:18] the wedding for the son. The king throws
[01:00:20] the wedding for his son. So in Jewish
[01:00:22] wedding, it's the father that announces
[01:00:25] the wedding day, not the not the
[01:00:26] bridegroom. That's the father's
[01:00:28] authority to do so. Not that the son
[01:00:30] doesn't know his own wedding day. He has
[01:00:32] to send invites, prepare the food,
[01:00:34] prepare the feast, you know, get it all
[01:00:36] ready. They know his own. He knows his
[01:00:37] own wedding day. But out of respect for
[01:00:39] the father, humble for the father as his
[01:00:42] authority to announce it. Okay. So you
[01:00:46] see this another example. Just one last
[01:00:47] one. Acts chapter 1 guys verse 6. They
[01:00:51] asked Jesus again when he resurrected
[01:00:52] and he's about to ascend a is now the
[01:00:54] time. Is now the time where you're going
[01:00:56] to restore Israel and do all this type
[01:00:58] of stuff. Is they're asking about the
[01:00:59] hour again? He says it's not for you to
[01:01:03] know. This time he uses a different
[01:01:05] Greek word. It's not oiden anymore. I
[01:01:07] forgot what it was though. Sorry, but
[01:01:09] it's a different Greek word here. He
[01:01:10] says, "It's not for you to know the
[01:01:13] times or the seasons that the father has
[01:01:15] fixed by his own authority."
[01:01:18] Okay? Not for you to know. So, that's
[01:01:21] how we answer that. So, Jesus isn't
[01:01:23] ignorant of his own hour. It's not for
[01:01:25] him to declare.
[01:01:26] Okay. Last question.
[01:01:28] Hi, Logic.
[01:01:29] What's up?
[01:01:30] My name is Faithful. Uh, nice to meet
[01:01:32] you.
[01:01:32] Nice to meet you. Um so this is how I
[01:01:35] understood the trinity back in Ghana
[01:01:37] when I was a kid when I was a child. Um
[01:01:39] I mean if you read the book of Genesis
[01:01:41] it says that God made us in his image
[01:01:43] and I know that according to the Bible
[01:01:45] we are we are a spirit being we have a
[01:01:47] soul and we function with a body on
[01:01:49] earth. So can we say that with that
[01:01:51] knowledge God has to have a since we we
[01:01:54] were made in God God's image God has to
[01:01:56] have a certain kind of uh being similar
[01:01:58] to ours which I mean I mean we we are
[01:02:02] like a spirit being right and we have a
[01:02:04] soul functioning on the earth with the
[01:02:05] body so some way somehow God has to have
[01:02:07] that kind of uh same image that he made
[01:02:09] us in I don't know if uh that that
[01:02:13] are you here
[01:02:15] IP raise your hand
[01:02:16] yeah so this is before like any of these
[01:02:18] these verses, you know, and all these
[01:02:20] things that you've taught us uh came in
[01:02:22] actually. So, I don't know. Yeah,
[01:02:25] I I heard I got you, brother. Is it
[01:02:26] inspiring philosophy here?
[01:02:29] Did you hear? Did you hear him?
[01:02:31] Did you hear his Did you hear him? He
[01:02:33] said to explain the trinity, you know?
[01:02:36] Uh can we use like we're mind, body, and
[01:02:38] spirit, you know? Uh what what is that?
[01:02:40] What is that called?
[01:02:44] That's partialism of Patrick.
[01:02:48] The reason why we can't use that example
[01:02:52] is because that's partialism Patrick and
[01:02:55] modalism as well because now you're
[01:02:57] saying that so the mind, body, and
[01:02:59] spirit, these are parts of the human
[01:03:01] nature. They're not fully human. The the
[01:03:04] you know, they together make up the
[01:03:06] whole. So if you're going to compare
[01:03:08] that to God, the father, son, and
[01:03:09] spirit, you're going to say that the
[01:03:10] father is only part of God. The son is
[01:03:12] part of God. The spirit is part of God.
[01:03:14] They themselves aren't fully God or
[01:03:17] truly God. Right? So that's why that
[01:03:18] doesn't work. These analogies guys don't
[01:03:21] do that. Just don't do it. Okay? Um so
[01:03:25] the father, son, and spirit, they are
[01:03:27] fully truly God. All right? There's no
[01:03:30] partialism in the divine essence. You
[01:03:32] can't split them up or put a piece of
[01:03:34] godhood here and piece of godhood there.
[01:03:36] They're not a third of God. Each person
[01:03:39] fully possesses the divine essence.
[01:03:41] Okay. Unlike mind, body, and soul.
[01:03:45] All right. Looks like that's it, y'all.
