https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lJYL3UCAPo

[00:02] The unshakable confidence football is classic.
[00:07] YES.
[00:16] I'm Andrew Menser.
[00:16] This is Lions.
[00:18] YES.
[00:18] This is Lions then connected by E.
[00:18] We are here in Kansas City, England's new home for the summer.
[00:24] We left the palm trees behind.
[00:26] We've rolled into the Midwest.
[00:26] New set, new city, but it's the same access you have to the England players right here on camp.
[00:33] And with me, I've got two of my favorites.
[00:35] They linked up for the first goal against Costa Rica.
[00:36] Anthony Gordon and Declan Ras.
[00:39] How you boys doing?
[00:41] Yeah, good.
[00:41] Good.
[00:42] Appreciate you guys coming on the show, man.
[00:43] Kansas City.
[00:43] Talk to me.
[00:45] It wasn't on my bucket list, but we're here.
[00:47] What's your first impressions?
[00:49] No, I was the same as you.
[00:49] It wasn't on me bucket list, but I must say I really appreciated it so far.
[00:52] We had some original Kansas barbecue yesterday.
[00:57] Some live country music and stuff.
[00:59] It's a good vibe.
[01:01] I can't lie, Anthony.
[01:01] When I look at...
[01:02] You, I think yeah, you like country music still.
[01:04] I do like country music, but I've got more than than what the I meet.
[01:07] You can back me there.
[01:08] No.
[01:09] He does.
[01:09] You got more in your locker.
[01:10] Yeah, with music.
[01:11] Okay.
[01:11] I'm a good DJ.
[01:12] And what about you, D?
[01:13] Country.
[01:14] Nah.
[01:14] No, [laughter] I don't mind it, bro.
[01:17] I know it's become massive in it last few years, but it wouldn't be my go-to straight away.
[01:23] It's mad though like when I was thinking of when I first got this job I think yeah America maybe going to be in LA New York but we're in Kansas I never would have thought why do you think we're here?
[01:33] I think logistic I what they were saying that logistically it's like in the middle um to travel to our games it's like the shortest distance they're just trying to basically optimize everything and make it as easy as easy as possible for us.
[01:45] So yeah, I think we're here now and it's been really I like it cuz it's peaceful, you know, the hotel it's just like we're in like a community, but it's just nice.
[01:53] Like today there was people like fishing in the lake like people on walk cycling like it's just just feels really peaceful, you know?
[01:58] It's nice.
[02:00] Do you think that piece is important to
[02:02] The preparations?
[02:05] Like there's a lot of noise outside, obviously distractions and stuff, but do you feel like that piece is very important for you guys to really focus and like on the tournament?
[02:13] Yeah, 100%.
[02:17] I think it's key.
[02:17] Um because now we've obviously had what the the 10 11 days in Miami which were top but to come here you're not in like a massive city where you can go and visit all the time on your off days or on afternoons off.
[02:27] Um we're in Kansas there's not as much to do as there would be as in Miami or in LA or something.
[02:31] So I think from that point of view it's really really good that we're here.
[02:35] Everyone's locked in.
[02:36] Everyone's focused and um yeah since we've got here the prep preparations have ramped up.
[02:40] So it's been good.
[02:41] When you said my Anthony started smiling, but I've got [laughter] I'm going to try something here for you.
[02:45] I've got something.
[02:45] Dismar me, Anthony.
[02:47] Hola, Eben.
[02:47] Venido, amigo.
[02:50] Gracias.
[02:50] Gracias, amigo.
[02:52] How did I do?
[02:52] Is that good?
[02:53] Yeah.
[02:56] No.
[02:56] No.
[02:56] You next level so quickly, bro.
[02:59] Threw me off.
[03:01] What you saying, Deck?
[03:01] You got any any Spanish?
[03:02] No chance.
[03:04] Talk to me though about how it is learning a new language.
[03:06] Almost like obviously I saw the press conference.
[03:09] It was amazing.
[03:10] I was like, when was he even practicing this?
[03:13] Just talk to me about the whole process of actually learning a new language.
[03:16] It's difficult, you know, like people always see the end result and they assume it's easy because obviously when you practice a little bit and it obviously becomes a lot easier, but it's really difficult because I mean you're learning a completely new language.
[03:28] You're trying to translate everything you're thinking in English to Spanish.
[03:32] So it's really hard.
[03:34] Tell them how long it took you to learn it.
[03:36] I've had six lessons.
[03:38] You've had six lessons?
[03:40] It's not live, bro.
[03:41] We don't lie on live then, bro.
[03:42] No, no, six lessons.
[03:43] Six lessons this as well the other day.
[03:45] This was when we spoke the other day.
[03:46] I've had nine now.
[03:47] I've had a couple while we've been on camp.
[03:49] Oh, wow.
[03:49] So, six lessons.
[03:50] You picked up that.
[03:51] Did you always pick up things quickly?
[03:53] Not really.
[03:54] I wouldn't say I'm like intellectually smart to be honest.
[03:57] Um, like I said press conference, I always kind of spoke a little bit of Spanish with my Spanish physio in Newcastle for.
[04:03] That reason.
[04:05] Um, but yeah, actual lessons I've had nine now, six to the day.
[04:08] That's crazy.
[04:08] All right, Deck, vice captain this tournament.
[04:10] First of all, congrats.
[04:12] How does it feel, bro?
[04:14] Yeah, it's special.
[04:17] Um, I feel like when it's England, it gets made into such a big thing about being vice captain.
[04:21] Um, but so I just tried to take it with a pinch of salt.
[04:26] Um, obviously I've been picked as the vice captain, but I think we're going to need everyone chipping in, not just me as vice captain.
[04:31] I think we're going to need as a group.
[04:32] I I love when I hear you speak cuz you're so you're so humble in it.
[04:37] But it's true though.
[04:38] It's like I've seen so much stuff about captain nations make it into such a bigger thing.
[04:43] It's like with us it's like it gets made into the biggest thing ever in my opinion where I just Yeah.
[04:45] It's a big achievement but we just got you just got to keep it like [laughter].
[04:51] It's unreal.
[04:51] I'm so happy about it.
[04:53] But like we also have other top captains as well who are also like vice captains in my eyes.
[04:58] So obviously I'm the official one.
[04:59] I'm really happy about it.
[04:59] But it's um yeah, we have loads as well.
[05:03] But talk to me about kind of humbling yourself and when you've achieved so many different things.
[05:08] Obviously this season you've had a great season.
[05:11] Just talk to me about how you kind of mentally come down from that high and kind of try and focus on the next objective.
[05:18] I think we're us two are very similar in terms of like we've had so many setbacks on our journey so far.
[05:21] Uh loads of rejection throughout our career, loads of adversity.
[05:28] Um, so in the end, you know, you just if you want to get to the top, you have to just keep taking them small losses and keep riding with them and just basically keep going and believing in yourself.
[05:38] Um, and yeah, in the end, I think if you keep believing in yourself that much, you have good people around you, you'll end up winning one way or the other.
[05:43] And luckily enough with Arsenal this year on the fourth chance of fourth season of me, third season of me being there, not fourth, we obviously won the Premier League.
[05:51] Um, so yeah, I always believe in that, you know, the rejections as a kid and adversity.
[05:55] I think it always helps.
[05:57] Sure.
[05:57] And obviously he's he's doing the humble he's doing the humble thing.
[06:00] But no, you you talked to me about Dex like leadership both on and off the.
[06:05] Pitch, cuz he's not going to give it to me.
[06:06] So I need you to give it to me.
[06:08] I think that there what he just said sums his leadership style up.
[06:10] He is humble.
[06:12] You would never think he is the player he is or what he's achieved so far in his career.
[06:16] I don't even know how many caps he's got.
[06:18] He's only 27.
[06:20] Yeah, like he's got unbelievable resume already and he's not even in his prime yet, but that sums up his leadership style.
[06:27] He's so humble even on the pitch.
[06:30] Like he's just incredible to everyone on and off the pitch.
[06:33] Yeah, for sure.
[06:33] Um the last time he was on this show, you said that your mom was raging that you didn't have enough sun cream on.
[06:40] I'm not going to lie, when I met him the same, [laughter].
[06:44] I'm telling you, all moms are the same.
[06:45] Such a rookie mistake.
[06:48] But then when I met you in West Palm, I was thinking this guy's looking he's looking red.
[06:52] [laughter].
[06:53] Have you learned your lesson, bro?
[06:54] I've learned my lesson now.
[06:56] I think I've gone I'm not even I'm not even that burnt to be honest with you.
[06:59] You're not.
[06:59] [laughter].
[07:00] I got you something, bro.
[07:01] Yeah.
[07:01] Go on.
[07:02] Come on.
[07:03] It's always the first day [laughter] of being in a country where you're not used.
[07:06] To the weather.
[07:09] It's like you try to ride it out, no sun cream, and then you have your shower and you look at yourself and you think, "Oh, no."
[07:13] No.
[07:13] But yeah, you was come out, you come out the sun, he was looking a bit dead.
[07:17] You see them pictures that come out, right?
[07:19] I wouldn't have looked as hot in them pictures because Andy, the media guy, said, "You want to have a shower?"
[07:23] And because I wanted to just get it done quick, I'd just come from training.
[07:26] [laughter]
[07:26] So, if I would have had a shower, freshened up, I wouldn't have looked as red as I did.
[07:28] I'm positive of that.
[07:30] Okay, cool.
[07:30] You look good.
[07:31] That's the context.
[07:31] [laughter]
[07:32] But I look finished.
[07:36] Now, I want to chat to you both um about football.
[07:38] This is why we're here.
[07:40] You two linked up for the first goal.
[07:40] Just not just the two but just like when I was watching it there's so many different you know patterns of play and so many different free flowing football.
[07:49] Just talk to me about how that's been so far and the cohesion between the between the players.
[07:53] I think it makes it a lot easier when you play with players of his level of Nico's level um Nico's probably one of if not the best left backs in the world right now at making them kind of runs his movement is is incredible and
[08:08] Deck so smart and so physical that it's really hard to deal with us down that side because we're all physical.
[08:14] Uh, we're all quick and we're all, you know, got high football IQ.
[08:19] Yeah, Deck opened the scoring.
[08:20] Beautiful finish.
[08:21] You've got that in your locker.
[08:23] Are you thinking about goals this tournament?
[08:26] Talk to me, bro.
[08:27] Obviously, it'd be nice to score in a major tournament for England.
[08:31] It's not one of the things that's on my mind to score loads of goals, but obviously to score in a major tournament for England would be an honor.
[08:35] Um, but I think I'm like with him, with Nico, we were speaking about it for like 3-4 days before.
[08:41] It like wasn't a coincidence that we played really well together because we spoke about it.
[08:44] We went through our movements, went through what we like on the ball, off the ball.
[08:49] And I think when you have that communication between each other, things just happen naturally.
[08:53] Um, and I think in the first half especially, Nico was bombing on, was coming inside, I was going into the box, it was just so many different things.
[08:59] And obviously for the goal, he was a threat all game.
[09:02] Um, should have had a penalty, got the assist, scored a goal himself.
[09:06] So, it was an all-round performance.
[09:08] It was incredible.
[09:09] So, I.
[09:10] I think there's a lot to come in the World Cup as well.
[09:12] For sure.
[09:12] And I can't lie, you was doing a madness in that game.
[09:15] Like, [snorts] you had the fullback on absolute toast.
[09:18] You won player of the match.
[09:18] Just talk to me about how that felt like the confidence going into a tournament when you're you're playing that well.
[09:25] No, it's good.
[09:25] Listen, I try and be direct.
[09:27] That's what I'm what I'm good at.
[09:28] Um, I was obviously blessed genetically in terms of me pace, so it'd be a waste for me not to use it.
[09:32] Um, Deck and Nico created so much space for me that I ended up in a lot of 1 v one situations and then it's up to me to really do what I was picked for then and kind of earn me money in a way.
[09:43] That's where I need to be a game changer.
[09:45] I need to make sure I'm effective in them in them situations.
[09:50] Um, especially one v one and then the important part is being able to pick him out and he done the rest.
[09:56] So we we know you work a lot on visualization.
[09:59] How does that work?
[10:00] Like what are you actually visualizing before a game?
[10:02] Is it right before the game?
[10:03] Is it the night before?
[10:05] Like what are the pictures that you see in your head?
[10:06] It's just a game.
[10:08] Just the situations I.
[10:10] I think that will come which is hard to predict at times.
[10:13] But I meditate every morning and it's purely to think about what I want to achieve through the day in a session in a game.
[10:21] It makes it easier for me to channel into me next decisions, if that makes sense.
[10:26] Makes it easier for me to if I've got a goal, every decision I make through the day has got to be headed towards that.
[10:33] And it's just easier for me to end up getting there.
[10:36] If I don't do it, I feel like I'm a bit all over the place.
[10:39] So, you just need that for your routine.
[10:41] Yeah.
[10:41] It's just a bit of calm.
[10:44] And also, like Dex said before, like football is about letting things go.
[10:47] Whether you do bad or good, if I make a mistake, when I meditate, I find it easier to let it go and be right in the moment than the next moment.
[10:53] And that moment could decide the game.
[10:55] So, what do you do for your Zen?
[10:57] Cuz I've seen you throughout this season, been so many Arsenal games, obviously cuz of ES, but I just been watching you and like there's been so many moments where you're very calm, maybe like you might have made a mistake or a goal might have been conceded and you just get back into that zone.
[11:09] What?
[11:11] Do you do for that calm, bro?
[11:14] To be honest with you, I think I've played so many football matches now.
[11:18] I think in early stage of my career, I would have worried about making mistakes or would have thought about that mistake for a while during the game, but now it's like that isn't going to be my last mistake.
[11:28] I'm going to make more mistakes.
[11:29] Like genuinely, obviously I made the big mistake at Spurs.
[11:33] Yeah.
[11:34] Um and then literally I was after that I think I was just so calm because all eyes are going to be on you in that moment.
[11:41] But if you let your mind then start to start to dictate you, I think then you're just going to hide.
[11:45] And like I feel like I've become better at that over the years in terms of if you make a mistake like still got so many minutes left with a trade.
[11:53] Yeah.
[11:55] [laughter]
[11:57] It's not it's not.
[11:58] No.
[11:58] So yeah, bro, that's that's how I think about it to be honest with you.
[12:01] I just take it take it with a pinch of salt and um yeah, keep going.
[12:04] All right.
[12:04] I got another set piece question for you.
[12:06] I know you get these all the time, but this one's a different one.
[12:08] Have you ever taken a set piece in front of fans having a full dinner?
[12:14] This is crazy.
[12:16] These men were eating dinner at the game.
[12:18] You know, this is didn't even notice him.
[12:19] I didn't even notice him.
[12:21] I promise you that's I see this picture after like everyone's like that's so American.
[12:26] But I didn't when I'm when you're going over to take the corner, you're not I don't look like into the crowd really.
[12:31] I just I take the ball and think about where I want to put it.
[12:35] I didn't see him eating a burger [laughter] and chips and it's crazy.
[12:37] America is different like against the New Zealand game.
[12:39] It was like a pirate ship.
[12:40] There's just so much going on in this it's just fanf fair.
[12:44] Now um we saw this squad photo over the weekend.
[12:47] Let's quickly take a look.
[12:48] The drip is very very very serious.
[12:52] Just talk to me about that day.
[12:54] Like how does it work?
[12:54] Do you know when it's coming?
[12:56] Do you know the the fittings?
[12:59] I can't everyone's looking very very sharp.
[13:01] Yeah, we get to choose don't we?
[13:03] We get to um a couple of months ago, M&S bring all the options in and then you get to choose.
[13:07] You can see we're all wearing slightly different things that match our individual style.
[13:12] So, we get to prep for it.
[13:12] Um but it's
[13:14] Turned out really well.
[13:16] Everyone looks sharp.
[13:17] Yeah.
[13:17] The streets are saying you're looking so sharp.
[13:20] They're saying no.
[13:20] They're saying they're saying James Bond, bro.
[13:24] Where they're saying they're saying James.
[13:26] Yeah.
[13:26] They're saying James Bond.
[13:28] Yeah.
[13:28] To be fair, I had one of the suit jackets on before, but it didn't it didn't look right.
[13:32] So, I changed into the to the more chill jacket.
[13:33] But like an said, we prepared like we done that trying on stuff like four or five months ago in one of the camps.
[13:40] So, when we got there, all we had to do was put it on and take the picture.
[13:43] So, it actually it's quite it runs quite smoothly to be honest with you.
[13:47] Obviously, I've I've been I've been like here like watching you guys from afar on camp and my whole thinking was a just play football, do a couple of interviews, but it feels like there's so much going on.
[13:57] Um, just talk to me about that whole process of like kind of having to deal with that, whether it's media, whether it's like press stuff and the football as well.
[14:08] Yeah, I think it's good because when we go down for breakfast in the morning, the the media guy, it's it's all written on the wall.
[14:13] So, if you have stuff.
[14:15] Throughout the day, like the first time I see about lines then was this morning.
[14:18] So, in the back of my head, I'm obviously training today, doing other bits, but then obviously I have this.
[14:22] It's not like a shot to the system.
[14:24] Yeah, you're thinking about me.
[14:24] Yeah.
[14:25] [laughter]
[14:26] But like everyone it's really well prepared well really well thought of.
[14:28] So yeah, [snorts] I think obviously the football's always comes first, but then there's a clear pan plan in terms of the media stuff which is which is easier to do for sure.
[14:36] All right, we've got some fan questions.
[14:37] Now guys, remember you can ask these players anything you want by using the hashtag lions or submitting any questions to uh England social channels.
[14:45] So we've got one from Jed.
[14:46] Uh after a long season, how fresh mentally and physically do you both feel for this competition?
[14:55] I think I'm in a different situation to Deck because he had a lot going on right till the very end.
[14:59] I had a different end of the season in terms of I wasn't playing the last couple of games.
[15:02] Um so I feel mentally and physically in a amazing place.
[15:07] Feel very very fresh and I think it's very important.
[15:10] I went to the last tournament the Euros and I picked up an injury in the second to
[15:15] Last game.
[15:17] So, it was very important for me this time to come in physically fresh and I've been able to do that.
[15:21] So, I'm very grateful.
[15:22] Tech, how did you do it, bro?
[15:24] Cuz I'm watching from the City away to West Ham away.
[15:29] So many intense games leading up to the Premier League, then obviously the Champions League final.
[15:34] How do you do it, bro?
[15:37] I don't know.
[15:37] [laughter] It's just it's our job.
[15:38] Like, it's what we're it's what it's easy to say it, but like we're just it's what we're built for in a It's what we train for and it's like yeah like our bodies are made to do this you know we've been doing it for so long my our first game was of the season was against remember Singapore we started in Singapore in last July and we're going to be still playing in July so we've basically done a full year of football so physically I I I don't actually feel I feel really good physically it's more like mentally in the season with Arsenal like when you're challenging for all the titles and stuff you just go [snorts] through so much emotionally it takes up so much space that I feel like that's sometimes harder.
[16:16] Than what it is actually physically, cuz you can manage your games, you can get through games easily.
[16:21] You know what you're capable of, but mentally your mind can go to different places and where you want to win and when you're at a club that always demands winning is uh there's always a lot of pressure.
[16:29] So, I feel like mentally it's probably been a bit tougher than physically, but yeah, just try to deal with it.
[16:33] That's a great, that's a great answer.
[16:34] Um, from Will, he's asking, "What are you most looking forward to the most about this tournament?"
[16:39] So, give me something on the pitch and off the pitch.
[16:43] And I'll start with you.
[16:45] Um, for me on the pitch the first game, just hearing the anthems because it's my first World Cup, I haven't been a part of one before.
[16:53] Just being with the team, listening to the the national anthem.
[16:55] I can't wait for that cuz that's when it's really going to kick in.
[16:57] Like we've had what 9 10 days in Miami and it's obviously been great preparation, but now the real stuff starts.
[17:03] This is really what we're here for.
[17:04] So that's going to be exciting.
[17:06] And off the pitch, I think just experience like just just creating good memories because we'll never get this time back in our lives ever.
[17:15] So, it's just cherishing the memories.
[17:17] And trying to make it special.
[17:18] Sure, Nick.
[17:20] Yeah, I agree with an I think the last World Cup was like a real not shock, but it was like a wow like this is what playing for England means in terms of like that first game, the media, the hype, how many people watch a tournament.
[17:32] Um, so I think that first game is the one.
[17:34] It's It's the most exciting bit.
[17:37] It's cuz you've been waiting for so long.
[17:38] Um, and I think off the pitch just more of what we've been doing, like just connecting exactly what he said.
[17:42] You're going to look back at some point and and think, "Wow, I was at that tournament and I was with that group of lads and you'll remember specific things."
[17:50] So, just connecting with each other and creating memories.
[17:53] Do you both have to remind yourself that you have to enjoy it?
[17:55] Cuz you have so much high pressure games as you said we fight whether you're fighting for trophies, Premier League, playing for England, there's so much like scrutiny and pressure.
[18:05] So do you have to sometimes remind yourself, yo, this is sick.
[18:09] Do you know what I mean?
[18:11] I'm playing for I'm playing football.
[18:13] Yeah, 100%.
[18:14] I think we've got such a good group and and manager as well in.
[18:17] In terms of like, he's really good at giving us downtime, really good at giving us off time.
[18:20] Like, he knows how to get the balance right of not always full on; like, he's really good at giving us the balance.
[18:26] And we have such a good group of young lads who all connect and get on really well with each other.
[18:30] It makes it so much easier.
[18:32] Obviously, when the time starts to play football, we're all really focused and ready to go.
[18:36] But when it's time to relax, I feel like we've got such a good group.
[18:39] Like, everyone relaxes, chills, plays games, gets a coffee together.
[18:43] Like, it's just, it's like a big family really.
[18:45] Honestly, it is.
[18:47] Yeah, for sure.
[18:48] I appreciate that.
[18:49] Thank you so much for your questions.
[18:51] Please keep sending them in.
[18:53] Now, guys, we like to play games.
[18:55] So, this is called Eyeballer.
[18:59] [music]
[18:59] All right.
[19:01] Simple.
[19:03] You both got your buzzers.
[19:05] You got your buzzers.
[19:07] Aim of the game.
[19:09] Okay, let me test the buzzers first, though.
[19:11] All right, that's yours.
[19:12] Okay, cool, cool, cool.
[19:14] So, the aim of the game is very, very simple.
[19:16] I'm going to show you photos of NFL and [snorts] NBA players, past and present, and...
[19:17] You've got to try and guess who they are, but I'm only showing you their eyes.
[19:20] Right.
[19:20] We'll get first to buzz.
[19:24] [laughter]
[19:25] No, first is not good.
[19:28] Football be different, but go on.
[19:29] Once you buzz, you got 5 seconds.
[19:32] I ain't going to know one NFL player, bro.
[19:33] I feel like you've got this.
[19:35] Is this NBA and NFL?
[19:36] NBA and NFL.
[19:38] Both sports.
[19:38] [laughter]
[19:40] All right, let's go.
[19:41] All right, you ready for the first one?
[19:45] LeBron James.
[19:46] Yeah, LeBron James is correct, bro.
[19:47] Come on.
[19:50] You You had that, bro.
[19:52] I feel like you're doubting yourself, bro.
[19:53] I'm not doubting, bro.
[19:53] But it's hard.
[19:55] I'm seeing a person's eyes.
[19:55] [laughter]
[19:58] All right.
[19:58] Now, you got this.
[19:59] I believe in you, bro.
[19:59] Okay.
[19:59] Next one.
[20:04] No, it's not.
[20:04] It's not.
[20:05] No.
[20:05] Give me something.
[20:06] What?
[20:06] You think it's this?
[20:08] No.
[20:09] Yeah.
[20:09] Mahomes.
[20:10] Yes.
[20:10] Yes.
[20:10] Yes.
[20:10] [laughter]
[20:10] Yes.
[20:13] Patrick Rose.
[20:16] Great.
[20:16] Fun facts about him.
[20:16] He's the
[20:18] youngest player to um win both NFL MVP
[20:20] and the Super Bowl. 24 years old. Crazy.
[20:22] Okay. One. Deck. You're in the You got
[20:25] points on the board, bro.
[20:26] Happy.
[20:26] All right. Next one. Are you ready? Who
[20:28] is this?
[20:30] I know it.
[20:30] Scotty Pippen.
[20:32] Scotty Pippen is correct.
[20:35] See, you know everything. You know these
[20:36] ones.
[20:37] Come on. I've got to be quick. 2-1
[20:40] deck. We got this. Come on, bro.
[20:43] Who's this?
[20:47] Larry Bird.
[20:49] Larry Bird is correct. Yeah. You know
[20:51] your You know your stuff, bro.
[20:53] Yeah. NBA and NFL.
[20:54] Yeah. Okay. Cool. All right. So, it's
[20:56] 31. And we got one more, but this one's
[20:59] worth three points.
[21:00] Sure.
[21:01] It's my show. It's my show.
[21:02] Gives, bro. This is I'm giving you an
[21:05] assist here. You ready?
[21:06] Too quick with this. You got this. It's
[21:07] just got Larry Bird. [laughter]
[21:09] Yeah, for real. That was bad. All right,
[21:12] last one. Who is this?
[21:15] Brady.
[21:17] Tom Brady.
[21:18] Thomas [laughter] Edward.
[21:20] He even got the middle name. I mean,
[21:23] all right. That's we call that. Yeah,
[21:25] that's that's Ant in five, bro.
[21:27] Yeah. Yeah, that's top. He does. I said
[21:29] he's smarter than me. [laughter]
[21:31] But we've got another game coming up
[21:32] that you're going to get your bring
[21:33] back. All right, time for some more fan
[21:35] questions. Remember, you can get
[21:36] involved using the hashtag lines.
[21:38] They're not submitting any questions via
[21:39] the England social app. So, the first
[21:41] one is from Elijah, and they ask, "How
[21:43] is Thomas Tukul different from any coach
[21:46] you've had before? You've both played
[21:48] with um amazing coaches and and gaffers,
[21:50] but just tell me about his differences."
[21:54] I think it's hard to say differences
[21:55] because I've had a lot of coaches, but
[21:58] he's unique. He's himself. Um he's an
[22:01] amazing person, very sarcastic, very
[22:03] funny. Once the training stops, you can
[22:04] just be yourself around him, which is
[22:06] not always the case with managers. Um,
[22:09] so he's top. He makes you feel at home,
[22:11] but once the training starts, he's
[22:12] really intense, which I really love.
[22:15] That's my style of football and and how
[22:17] I want to train. So,
[22:19] how have you found him?
[22:20] I think he's top. He makes you feel I
[22:23] had a specific like meeting with him and
[22:24] I come out of it feeling like 10 foot
[22:26] tall. Like he just he gives you that
[22:28] that love, that energy. Um his man
[22:31] managing is incredible. Like you said an
[22:33] like around the place like you could
[22:35] catch him playing table tennis with like
[22:37] a player or like a game of poor against
[22:39] someone. He's just always interacting
[22:41] with people and I think
[22:42] you you feel that like you can just
[22:44] speak like like you said just be normal
[22:46] with him and I feel like that's really
[22:47] good as a player to feel that love from
[22:48] the manager. I think it's really really
[22:50] good
[22:51] for sure. Second question is from Jess
[22:52] and they ask
[22:54] what is your first football memory?
[22:58] [snorts]
[22:58] Maybe maybe first time where you fell in
[23:01] love with football for the first time.
[23:04] Football memory.
[23:07] I I don't have like a what? Like a game
[23:09] or
[23:09] There is a [clears throat] game of
[23:10] something you saw on TV.
[23:11] My first football memory would mine. Can
[23:13] mine just be like I've got two older
[23:15] brothers like
[23:15] Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. For sure.
[23:16] From the moment I could walk like just
[23:18] obviously you don't really remember
[23:19] being two and three but obviously you
[23:20] see pictures your mom and dad take like
[23:22] just playing with them really as a kid.
[23:25] Like I just remember like I think I
[23:27] appreciated playing with older people
[23:29] like just improving and them two pushing
[23:30] me all the time. So I think like they
[23:32] were they were my earliest memories of
[23:33] playing football like just when I was in
[23:35] a nappy running around like playing
[23:37] football. So yeah like for me
[23:39] mine would be similar. Mine would be
[23:40] with me brother cuz me mom would drag us
[23:42] in from the back garden cuz we've been
[23:44] playing for so long and we'd kick each
[23:45] other for hours but then we just go in
[23:48] the kitchen and roll socks up and the
[23:50] kitchen was tiny. We had no space and
[23:52] we'd be smashing everything.
[23:53] Yeah. But we both just love football and
[23:55] both just love like playing together and
[23:57] still still kicking each other in
[23:59] [laughter] the kitchen rather than the
[24:00] garden. But
[24:01] yeah, just playing me with brother. I
[24:02] think
[24:03] it's mad. Both both family orientated. I
[24:05] love that. Okay, first third question is
[24:07] from George and they ask who's the best
[24:09] golfer in the squad and who do you think
[24:12] the worst golfer is?
[24:14] I'll go for worst golfer straight away.
[24:16] Worst golf is me.
[24:17] Are you Are you bad?
[24:18] I'm good at every other sport but golf.
[24:20] Have you tried playing though?
[24:21] No. [laughter] This is why
[24:24] we picked up Spanish
[24:26] thing. I was
[24:28] Jason Ste still has got the lowest
[24:30] handicap. He's off scratch. So that's
[24:32] like unbelievable.
[24:34] Harry Kane's off two, which is like
[24:36] unreal. And I'm off 6.8.
[24:39] Uh oh, you're you're decent though.
[24:41] I'm good. I'm really Yeah, I'm good. Uh
[24:43] Pigford's good. Elliot Anderson's an
[24:44] underdog. His handicap needs to come
[24:46] down big time.
[24:47] Oh, really?
[24:47] Oh, yeah. He Yeah, I've seen enough this
[24:50] trip. He's off about eight. He calls it
[24:52] he says 14, [laughter]
[24:53] but he's he's an eight. He's very good.
[24:55] Pigford's good. Stone John Stone's very
[24:58] good. We have a really good golf group
[24:59] here.
[25:00] Yeah. Yeah. So, Ant's never played.
[25:01] Yeah. But who's played that you think,
[25:04] "Bro, you can't hang with us, man.
[25:07] You can't hang with us. You got to go
[25:09] someone who plays regular."
[25:10] That's what I'm saying. Someone who
[25:12] plays You're like, "Bro, you're not
[25:13] levels, man. Go play paddle or pickle
[25:15] ball."
[25:16] But you know what? The boys that have
[25:18] played golf on this trip so far,
[25:20] they're all good. Like we've played like
[25:22] games like all against each other, all
[25:24] the scores added in and like it's been
[25:26] within like a point between seven of us.
[25:28] Like there's not one bad go through in
[25:30] my opinion.
[25:30] Okay, cool.
[25:31] Like genuinely like
[25:32] who's most inconsistent
[25:33] picks. Pigford [laughter]
[25:35] I could have told you that from the
[25:36] conversation.
[25:37] I mean will back me up. We were talking
[25:38] about the other day. Pigford on the golf
[25:40] course is hilarious. as in what he will
[25:42] hit one though he can
[25:43] be unbelievable or like
[25:47] [laughter]
[25:47] he'll just put a ball in somewhere I've
[25:49] never like it's not even possible to
[25:50] think about the ball guy going there and
[25:51] it will land there like he's just funny
[25:53] on the golf course.
[25:54] All right, cool. Talking of golf, we've
[25:56] got one more final game and now we've
[25:58] settled into our home in Kansas City.
[26:00] This is where the serious games begin.
[26:02] So this one is called goal in one.
[26:07] This is goal in one. Our players have 30
[26:11] seconds to hit five golf balls and get
[26:14] the lowest score possible.
[26:17] In front of them are five holes. Get the
[26:19] ball into the smallest hole and they
[26:21] will get one point. [cheering]
[26:24] Pop the ball into the largest hole and
[26:25] [music] they will get five points.
[26:28] But if you run out of time or miss
[26:30] completely, 10 points is added onto your
[26:33] score. Remember, the lowest [music]
[26:36] score wins.
[26:41] Just like golf, the lowest score wins.
[26:44] If you don't, if you miss the target
[26:46] though, it's added 10 to your score. If
[26:48] it goes out of bounds, it's 20. And if
[26:51] it goes, I might even add 30, deck,
[26:52] because I'm expecting big things from
[26:54] you.
[26:54] I should have a handicap here.
[26:55] [laughter]
[26:56] All right, Deck, you're up first. Five
[26:58] balls, 30 seconds. Are you ready?
[27:00] Yeah, I'm going for one straight away.
[27:03] Two, one, go.
[27:08] Ah, so the one's the best.
[27:09] Can I put that in or the best?
[27:11] Yeah. Yeah, you can. You can. It's like
[27:12] on a curling thing. You can
[27:16] [groaning]
[27:17] No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
[27:18] [laughter] no, no, no, no. You got to
[27:20] hit You got to hit it with another ball.
[27:22] Yeah. Yeah. Oh,
[27:23] do you get what you're saying?
[27:24] That's That's plus 10.
[27:26] 15 seconds. 15 seconds. Go, go, go.
[27:27] Plus 10 for cheating.
[27:30] Go on. 10 seconds, bro.
[27:33] This is awful.
[27:35] Four. Three. Yes, he's got one.
[27:39] Oh, unlucky. So,
[27:41] sorry. I thought you could put it in.
[27:43] I hit four bat boards and then got one
[27:45] in.
[27:45] You got one in. So, you got 10 20 30
[27:50] 41. But they're giving you they're
[27:52] giving you a 10point penalty cuz you cuz
[27:54] you did the
[27:55] Yeah.
[27:55] So, it's 51, bro. I'm sorry.
[27:58] Explain the rules. No, they're not.
[27:59] No. Explain the rules.
[28:01] 10 balls of bad luck. Get them out.
[28:03] All right. Let's go. And you got 51 to
[28:06] beat.
[28:07] 51
[28:08] now. Dex, I'm disappointed, bro.
[28:10] Bro, well, I'm going for the one every
[28:11] time, bro. Go for fives or fours when I
[28:14] can go.
[28:14] You're aiming big. You're aiming big.
[28:16] Hey, and and get get back, bro.
[28:19] Get back. Don't try it. I know you got a
[28:21] handicap, but get back, man. Come on.
[28:24] Was up here.
[28:24] Nah, man. You know he know he wasn't.
[28:27] All right. 3 2 1 go.
[28:32] All right. That's 10.
[28:36] Great part.
[28:37] That's great. And
[28:41] never played golf in me life. [laughter]
[28:44] Oh wow. [screaming]
[28:49] Oh, lucky. Unlucky.
[28:51] Unbelievable.
[28:52] Very very putting good.
[28:53] So I'm not bothered of this. I'm not
[28:55] bothered.
[28:57] That's nice, bro.
[28:59] That's 32 in total if my maths are
[29:02] correct.
[29:04] Dec.
[29:05] Did you not see how we rolled three in?
[29:06] That That's deserved.
[29:09] The way you explained that was terrible.
[29:11] 32 g. How you blaming the ref?
[29:15] [laughter]
[29:15] How you blaming the refer?
[29:18] How you blaming the ref? We're going to
[29:20] have you on Lions again.
[29:22] Guys, I need to sit down. Let me out.
[29:23] [laughter]
[29:25] Thank you guys so much for watching
[29:27] Lions Day connected by E. Dex's head's
[29:29] gone. He'll probably be back to to try
[29:32] and get get rid of this, but I'm going
[29:33] to I'm going to put him probably down
[29:35] probably put probably down here. Yeah.
[29:36] Yeah.
[29:37] What's this?
[29:38] Thank Thank you so much for watching.
[29:39] We'll see you next time. We'll see you
[29:40] tomorrow. We'll be back. Thank you.
[29:44] [music]
