[00:14] The Island of Sodor is where Thomas and all the engines live, and it has a railway that spans from coast to coast called the Northwestern.

[00:21] It is a part of the British Isles, technically a part of England off the northwest coast near the Lake District, with rail connections at Barrow Inverness.

[00:29] Thomas's creator, Wilbert Awdry, famously spent years filling in his map of Sodor.

[01:37] All of them are all a little different from each other, but they all make the same crucial mistake: they use Audrey's map and just add TV crap on top of it.

[01:48] The TV series made it very clear that the map the show stuck to is not the same as Audrey's in the very first episode when they showed Knapford as the big station instead of Tidmouth.

[02:00] So using Audrey's map as a basis is just silly because the TV series.

[02:05] I've built my own map and I have consistently worked on it for over a year now.

[02:13] One, this is predominantly a classic series map, that's seasons one through seven, with some Hit in Railway Series elements sprinkled in to fill gaps where necessary.

[03:23] And lastly and this is something that I even struggled with you just have to accept that some locations change and appear appearance from season to season for any of this to work.

[03:34] Brendan Docks, Farquhore Quarry, Wellsworth and the Hackenbeck Tunnel are all some of the biggest culprits of always changing how they look every season.

[03:57] There is a lot to unpack here so let's start with the main line which is depicted on the map in red.

[04:08] So I also have a rule of how to tell the sets apart, and it's the number of tracks seen on them.

[04:14] The main line is usually three tracks, with a couple exceptions.

[04:18] Two tracks is a branch line, and one track is either a tail end of a branch line in a rural area, or strictly a goods line.

[04:32] Knapford is the terminus for all lines, and all mainline trains start and end here.

[04:41] It was a weird choice to make that for the big station instead of Tidmouth, but I can kind of understand why.

[04:46] The most recent Sodor map at the time of season one was this one from the 70s, and it very incorrectly shows the main line terminating at Knapford.

[04:56] Before we go forward, let's talk about the harbor.

[04:59] Knapford Harbor is the mainline harbor and exports fish and stone.

[05:41] Knapford sheds is also located here which had a turntable in season one and then at some point along the way was turned into a multi-road shed.

[05:49] Now we can start traveling along the main line.

[05:51] So this is one of the biggest changes to the map versus Audrey's.

[05:53] The main line starts at Tidmouth on Audrey's map and travels south to Knapford.

[05:59] Since the TV's terminus is Knapford and Tidmouth is depicted as a mainline station, I've switched the directions.

[06:04] The mainline starts at Knapford in the southwest corner of.

[06:18] A little ways up is the bridge that crosses over the old Harbor cross over the river elves and we start approaching the second station lower Tidmouth.

[06:24] Lower Tidmouth is a stop for local trains only; the express does not stop here.

[06:33] It's here that Tidmouth Sheds resides, and just behind that is Tidmouth Station.

[06:38] Tidmouth Station's a bit of a weird one; it's a junction for Duck's Branch line and also the Terminus of Thomas's Branch line.

[06:47] As far as I can tell, the express does stop at Tidmouth.

[06:50] The railway's coal plant is at Tidmouth, and it has changed appearance a couple times since its introduction, notably gaining a huge loading ramp in season six.

[06:59] It only makes sense that the main place to refuel the engines is located at Tidmouth, where the majority of them are all stationed.

[07:21] Henry's tunnel is somewhere between Knapford and Wellsworth.

[07:42] This is one of the craziest changes from Audrey's map, and I don't really understand why it was done.

[07:49] In the books, Elsbridge is a small town in the countryside and the middle station on Thomas's Branch line.

[11:32] The iOS book talks about how Crock and Kildane are pretty busy center towns on Sodor.

[11:43] Of course, these aren't shown in the TV show, but it makes me believe Kildane is a pretty busy and populated part of the island.

[12:32] The line starts to climb another hill, and a little ways after that is the Difficult Bend.

[21:02] bulgi's Bridge I know it's sacrilegious

[21:04] to Place bulgi's Bridge on Thomas's line

[21:07] and not Ducks but the bridges

[21:09] consistently being shown to be on

[21:10] Thomas's Branch line in seasons 4

[21:12] onwards maybe Duck was just on Thomas's

[21:15] branch in bulgy for some reason who

[21:17] knows after bulgy's Bridge we reach

[21:19] maithwaite I personally prefer the

[21:21] version of made way in season 5 that is

[21:23] just single track you can say the

[21:25] version in season 6 onwards with the

[21:27] second track and platform is just a

[21:28] passing Lube after made weight the line

[21:30] climbs some more as it weaves up the

[21:32] hills towards the heart of Sodor we pass

[21:34] by the beautiful water mill and then

[21:37] through some River Marshland where the

[21:38] ever iconic windmill is terence's field

[21:41] isn't far from here once we pass that

[21:44] we're in hack and deck tunnel on the

[21:46] other side of the tunnel is the little

[21:47] halt for Mrs Kylie's Cottage there's a

[21:49] little Crossing ahead with no Gates and

[21:52] just after that is hackenbeck and I'm

[21:55] saying that the unnamed station everyone

[21:57] says this toy wreck is actually

[21:59] hackenbeck and here's why for one it's a

[22:02] single track station so it's definitely

[22:04] somewhere above Ells Bridge second in

[22:07] train stops play Stepney brings his

[22:09] trucks here after going through the

[22:11] hackenbeck tunnel this station is

[22:13] hackenbeck this is the hill I die on

[22:15] after heck and Beck the road and rail

[22:17] travel alongside each other for a while

[22:18] we pass over the river on this cool

[22:20] little bridge and finally reach the last

[22:23] regular service station Farquhar

[22:25] Farquhar is where Thomas's service

[22:27] usually terminates at Farquhar there are

[22:30] sightings for goods and a stone cutting

[22:32] shed for trucks from the farqua Quarry

[22:34] if we continue past the station and go

[22:36] left the line will become a short

[22:39] Tramway where Mavis stuck not far after

[22:42] that is the bridge where Toby tightroped

[22:44] the line starts to wind and climb as it

[22:46] traverses through the hills we'll pass

[22:49] the points for the abandoned tracks to

[22:50] the car ferry over the nearby lake my

[22:53] head Cannon is that they built a car

[22:55] ferry years ago and then abandoned it

[22:57] when they extended the lime West and

[22:59] built a bridge over the river instead

[23:00] why they built a car ferry that could

[23:03] carry only one Wagon at a time across it

[23:05] and didn't just build a bridge first is

[23:08] beyond me but you know typical backwards

[23:10] Sodor Logic the line crosses over the

[23:12] dirt road to the Quarry and it is here

[23:14] that Thomas was stopped by a policeman

[23:16] the track then curves East and goes

[23:18] through a Rocky Gorge until finally

[23:20] arriving at the Farquhar Quarry Farquhar

[23:23] Quarry also known as Center Island

[23:25] Quarry is where Mavis Works stone is

[23:27] collected here and brought down the line

[23:29] to knapford Harbor where it's loaded

[23:30] into ships and barges like bolstered the

[23:33] Quarry is one of those locations you

[23:35] unfortunately just have to accept

[23:36] changes its appearance almost every time

[23:39] we see it I personally prefer the way it

[23:41] looks in season three the best let's go

[23:44] back to farquar so Thomas's regular

[23:46] service terminates here but the line

[23:48] doesn't end on some occasions as told to

[23:50] us in Thomas and Percy's Christmas

[23:52] Adventure his service travels further

[23:54] along the line to the Mountain Village

[23:56] in ilstead the line continues past

[23:58] Farquhar passes The Junction to the Lead

[24:01] Mine where Thomas fell down a mine the

[24:03] line continues across the road Into the

[24:05] Heart of Sodor past the lonely signal

[24:07] box and right at the junction it goes

[24:10] past a waterfall through a valley

[24:12] cutting until finally arriving at

[24:15] Olmsted the line officially ends here

[24:17] and does not go further I like to think

[24:20] that Thomas runs like a special extended

[24:22] service to here on weekends or something

[24:24] let's go back to that Junction we went

[24:26] right at this is the area of Sodor that

[24:28] Toby explored in Toby's Discovery I like

[24:31] to think Thomas's Branch was actually a

[24:33] link to a huge now defunct mining

[24:37] Network in the heart of Sodor the stone

[24:39] quarry the gold mine the Lead Mine Etc

[24:43] and the branch provided a means of

[24:45] getting it all to the harbor once these

[24:47] mines were dried up these lines were

[24:49] abandoned if we go left at the junction

[24:51] the line climbs North into the mountains

[24:53] if we go right at the next Junction the

[24:56] line terminates at the old gold mine

[24:58] which was also serviced by the mid-sodor

[25:00] railway more on that in a bit it was

[25:02] here that Toby found Bertram the area

[25:04] was reopened and turned into a tourist

[25:06] exhibit since it is accessed by only

[25:09] Thomas's Branch line Thomas and Toby

[25:11] helped with the Reconstruction Bertram

[25:13] stays here and runs back and forth here

[25:15] on a section of track giving rides to

[25:17] visitors with no actual link to the

[25:18] scarloi railway hence why we don't see

[25:20] him again if we go left at the junction

[25:22] the line will continue to climb North

[25:24] until we reach the ruins of oathstead

[25:27] Castle yeah this is different to the CGI

[25:29] one different cannons this was also

[25:31] reopened to tourism along with the gold

[25:33] mine and that my friends is the entirety

[25:37] of Thomas's Branch line so let's travel

[25:40] all the way back to Tidmouth now and

[25:44] talk about Duck's Branch line aka the

[25:47] little Western

[25:53] if you want beach and sun then the

[25:56] little Western is the place to come to

[25:58] just like in the books the little

[26:00] Western starts at Tidmouth as seen in

[26:03] season three just north of the station

[26:05] is the Tidmouth tunnel which is beside a

[26:08] lake on the other side is the sunshiny

[26:10] Coast Tidmouth halt is here as well as a

[26:13] small yard and shed for goods the

[26:15] station is located between two tunnels

[26:16] in this open gap between Cliffs on the

[26:19] other side of the second tunnel is the

[26:21] run past the beach that fun Rock Tunnel

[26:24] is here as is this gorgeous set this is

[26:26] one of my favorite sets in the series it

[26:29] just looks like a painting we passed by

[26:31] the beach with the lighthouse where

[26:33] bolstro currently resides and round the

[26:36] band to haltra this is the middle

[26:38] station of the lion after Hall Traw the

[26:41] line starts to curve inward away from

[26:43] the sea towards arlsberg and I'm going

[26:45] to be a bit daring here and say that

[26:47] this little station in season 7 is

[26:50] arlsberg I don't know what the wiki

[26:52] calls it I think they call it suttery or

[26:54] something but to me it makes sense as a

[26:57] station on Duck's line we never actually

[26:59] see a station called arlsberg in the

[27:02] show and this is a model series map so

[27:04] the Arnold Dale Railway isn't Canon to

[27:06] it so [ __ ] it this is arlsberg since the

[27:10] station only has one platform on a

[27:12] sighting I like to think arlsberg is a

[27:15] Goods only station for goods coming in

[27:17] from the harbor similar to Tory wreck on

[27:19] Thomas's line the line runs along the

[27:21] river and above the town here it then

[27:23] crosses over the river ARL and past the

[27:25] junction for the arlesburg harbor before

[27:27] curving East again and terminating at

[27:30] Callan the station Oliver tore scruffy

[27:33] in half Callan is a weird one it's very

[27:35] clearly based on arlsberg West in the

[27:37] books and it also is very clearly on

[27:40] Duck's line so as far as I'm concerned

[27:42] they're the same location Callan is just

[27:44] a bit further north this is also a

[27:47] transfer station for services on Toby's

[27:49] Old Railway which I will get into in a

[27:51] bit there's a good yard here at Callan

[27:53] and the turntable Oliver Shed is also

[27:56] here the line does continue from Callan

[27:58] on a Goods line up to Callan Castle AKA

[28:02] Castle lock most Maps Place Callan

[28:04] castle in the north of Sodor near peel

[28:07] godred and I disagree with that it's

[28:09] called Callan Castle so it's obviously

[28:12] near Callan and since Callan is the

[28:15] arlesberg West stand-in then they both

[28:17] must be on the west coast there's a loop

[28:20] here at the castle that crosses a

[28:21] causeway now that's the end of duck

[28:24] slime however the tracks don't end here

[28:28] let's keep venturing North and explore

[28:30] the coastal run AKA Arthur's line

[28:39] okay so now this is a huge change I

[28:43] recently made to the map Arthur's line

[28:45] is the one that runs to the fishing

[28:47] Village and like the Sam Wilkinson map I

[28:49] originally had that as the branch to

[28:51] norenby however I just wasn't happy with

[28:54] it the fishing Village just didn't feel

[28:56] right on that side of the island in

[28:59] season 5 the engines are consistently

[29:00] shown traveling along the little Western

[29:02] to get to it and not to mention the

[29:04] plethora of beach stations that there

[29:07] are on the west side of Sodor the

[29:09] majority of times you see engines

[29:10] traveling to a beach station they're

[29:12] coming from the south with the beach on

[29:14] the west side and I didn't want to just

[29:16] throw a bunch of stations on the little

[29:18] Western but as I was putting this video

[29:20] together I had a come into Jesus moment

[29:22] and it hit me suddenly everything made

[29:25] sense the fishing Village in the classic

[29:27] series is in Harwick okay so here's my

[29:32] is a fairly recent development in season

[29:34] 3 they finished construction on Duck's

[29:36] line and that opened with services to

[29:38] Callan however work continued up the

[29:41] coast by season 5 they had reached the

[29:43] fishing Village at Hartwick however the

[29:45] low number of trains due out didn't

[29:47] really demand its own engine so

[29:49] available engines would just be sent up

[29:51] when a train was due however by the time

[29:53] of season seven the lines of the fishing

[29:55] Village had become so busy that it

[29:57] demanded its own engine Q Arthur the

[30:00] line continues from Cowan and works its

[30:02] way back up the coast the first station

[30:04] is what I call Church AKA where Percy

[30:07] and Thomas brought the good luck package

[30:09] to Mrs kindly's daughter's wedding the

[30:11] line leaves the road as the track

[30:12] continues along the coastline it passes

[30:15] a second Lighthouse along this stretch

[30:17] is the track with the pier rail Thomas

[30:19] fell off coming from the fishing Village

[30:21] the final and most northern station on

[30:24] Sodor is Hartwick and this is the

[30:26] station that Toby ventured to in special

[30:29] attraction every year Harwick has a Big

[30:31] Town Festival Harwick is a fishing town

[30:34] so naturally is the home of the fishing

[30:37] Village the line ends here Arthur

[30:39] collects trucks of fish from here and

[30:40] runs them to the big Harbors like

[30:42] knapford and Brendan where the big ships

[30:44] depart there's also a shed here that I

[30:46] like to think he stays at so now let's

[30:48] go back down to arlesberg Harbor and

[30:51] talk about Toby's Old Railway

[30:55] laughs

[30:59] in the TV series Toby's Old Railway was

[31:03] on Sodor this is evident by the station

[31:05] names lower arlesburg and arlsdale end

[31:08] it's also directly referenced in the

[31:10] song

[31:14] my guess is that the season 1 Crew

[31:17] misread that 70s map and Confused the

[31:19] arlesdale railway for a separate

[31:22] standard gauge one and just said [ __ ] it

[31:24] this is where Toby worked it was a

[31:26] standard gauge Railway but separate from

[31:28] the Northwestern Toby's old lines

[31:31] serviced arlesburg Harbor and he would

[31:33] Traverse Goods to and from its and the

[31:35] Inland farms and towns when Duck's

[31:38] Branch line was being constructed the

[31:40] old tracks were repurposed and connected

[31:42] to the little Western we never actually

[31:44] see arlsberg Harbor in the model series

[31:46] a lot of people say the harbor in all at

[31:48] Sea is arlsberg but I disagree that's

[31:51] just brendom arlesberg Harbor was never

[31:53] seen in the show until the CGI series

[31:55] and as I already stated it's a different

[31:58] Canon to the classic series The Line

[32:00] started at the harbor and traveled along

[32:02] the river aural it passes by what is now

[32:05] Toby's windmill crosses Over the River

[32:07] via rickety Old Bridge and stops at

[32:10] lower arlesburg

[32:11] it was here tapa met Toby For the First

[32:14] Time The River curls away from the line

[32:16] as the line starts to ascend it passes

[32:19] by McColl farm mccole farm was only seen

[32:22] once in the classic series of which it

[32:24] was stated to be on Toby's Old Line My

[32:27] Old Branch line runs out there sir

[32:29] remember now I know that's going to be

[32:31] controversial since McColl Farm is so

[32:34] associated with Thomas's line in later

[32:36] Seasons but if that's the case that

[32:39] means Toby's Old Railway would have

[32:40] connected to Thomas's line which is just

[32:43] so dumb to me and it creates so many

[32:45] continuity issues with season one so

[32:48] screw it it's on Toby's line the line

[32:50] continues up the mountain until it

[32:52] reaches the little village in Toby on

[32:54] the flood this is the middle station on

[32:56] the line and it has a passing loop I

[32:58] wasn't sure what to name this Village so

[33:00] I just pulled from Audrey's map of the

[33:02] arrowsdale and called it marthwaite the

[33:04] line crosses the wooden bridge at the

[33:06] end of the village that floated away in

[33:07] the flood and then starts to curl as it

[33:10] climbs up the mountains through these

[33:11] mountains we passed the ruins of Castle

[33:14] aural we then come to the great dam the

[33:17] dam holds the water of one of the big

[33:19] lakes up here after the dam is this

[33:21] Mountain Village station the wiki calls

[33:24] it balahu and I have no idea why the

[33:27] only episode it appears in specifically

[33:29] says it's on Toby's line it's needed for

[33:32] the village faced on Toby's Branch line

[33:34] I decided to call it arl'sdale as we

[33:37] have an arlsdale end but no regular

[33:39] arlsdale after that line crosses a

[33:41] Trestle bridge and weaves around another

[33:44] Lake the line finally halts at arlsdale

[33:46] end where Toby's shed is located after

[33:49] the line closed in season one top on bot

[33:52] Toby and this little line fell into

[33:54] disrepair it wasn't until season 5 when

[33:57] Oliver traveling from Callan was

[33:59] accidentally switched onto this line and

[34:01] crashed into Toby's old shed that Topham

[34:04] considered reopening it off screen at

[34:06] some point Topham bought the line and

[34:08] reopened it and Toby was relocated to

[34:11] his old Stomp

[34:12] from season 5 onwards it seems Toby

[34:15] stays in his old shed at arl'sdale end

[34:17] instead of Tidmouth when the line was

[34:19] reopened the service was extended to the

[34:22] nearest station at Callan as we see in

[34:25] Toby had a little lamb so now that we

[34:27] have the whole west of soda recovered

[34:29] let's transition to the South and take a

[34:32] look at Edwards Branch line

[34:43] is the most consistent with Audrey's

[34:45] vision and was the easiest to piece

[34:47] together Gotta Love That season two

[34:49] consistency so naturally Edward's line

[34:52] branches at wellsworth as stated in the

[34:55] iOS book Edward's service actually

[34:57] begins at Tidmouth hence why he sleeps

[34:59] there in the TV series it actually

[35:01] starts at knapford as per wrong road and

[35:04] Edward's exploit it runs along the main

[35:06] line stopping at all the local stops

[35:08] until it reaches wellsworth then he

[35:10] carries on down the branch to Brendan

[35:12] The Junction for the branch is west of

[35:14] the station and curls South nearby is

[35:16] the vicar of willsworth's Orchard where

[35:18] Trevor lives the ruins of suttery Castle

[35:21] Mark the beginning of suttery Kroc

[35:23] scrapyard is here where Edward collects

[35:25] scrap on occasion and then is taken up

[35:27] to peel godred more on that in a bit the

[35:30] first station as seen in Birdie's Chase

[35:31] is lower Sudbury I have no idea why

[35:34] suttery has a lower suttery and not a

[35:37] regular suttery but whatever it was here

[35:40] birdie Miss Edward and where Percy ran

[35:42] away to after lower suttery the line

[35:44] merges into a single track the line

[35:47] climbs and Crosses over the road via

[35:49] this girder bridge and then rolls down

[35:51] the hill into upper Brendan this station

[35:54] is upper Brenham not hackenbeck as some

[35:57] others have said as confirmed by Tom's

[35:59] props on Twitter apparently the model

[36:01] crew made station signs for this model

[36:03] but just never applied them I don't know

[36:06] why after upper Brendan the line crosses

[36:08] the river via this three-sectioned

[36:10] girder bridge and finally the line

[36:13] terminates at brendom at this station

[36:15] here this is of course the location of

[36:19] Brendan docks random docs is massive in

[36:22] the TV series this is the docs that

[36:25] appears in seasons 2 and 3 and 5 onwards

[36:29] like I said earlier it's a location that

[36:31] is never consistent in appearance so you

[36:34] just have to accept that I personally

[36:36] love the season 2 version of Brendan

[36:38] just add cranky somewhere along here and

[36:40] and you got a perfect random dog set a

[36:43] Goods line to the China Clay Pit starts

[36:45] here and it's along this that Bill and

[36:47] Ben brought clay to the docks to be

[36:48] loaded into ships however in Heroes The

[36:53] Clay Pit is destroyed in a huge

[36:54] Avalanche and barring double teething

[36:57] troubles which could have taken place

[36:59] before Heroes for all we know Derek is

[37:01] and BR green which means it would have

[37:03] been around the same time timeline wise

[37:05] Bill and Ben haven't been seen working

[37:07] at it since it seems they were relocated

[37:09] the farqua Quarry indefinitely until the

[37:12] clay pits were reopened as they are

[37:14] always seen there with Mavis for the

[37:15] remainder of the model series it is seen

[37:18] again in the CGI series but like I said

[37:20] before different cannons so since the

[37:23] clay pits never reopens in the classic

[37:24] series I have the line to it marked as

[37:27] closed

[37:31] the peel godred Branch this is going to

[37:33] be a fun one

[37:43] portrayed in Audrey's Universe in The

[37:45] Railway Series Canon this line is

[37:47] electrified and is run by a fleet of

[37:49] electric engines they're never seen in

[37:51] the books and are only mentioned once in

[37:54] a TV series the peel godred line is a

[37:57] single track Goods line just like on

[38:00] Audrey's map the line branches off at

[38:02] kildane and heads North through the

[38:04] valley between the two mountain ranges

[38:05] the first stop is this station The Croc

[38:08] we see in the show here's my

[38:10] justification on Audrey's map there's a

[38:13] small village in this area north of

[38:14] Kronk called Cronk Abbey as a little

[38:17] station is called Cronk it's technically

[38:20] still the same name just Sans Abbey it's

[38:22] a single track station in the middle of

[38:24] nowhere a perfect fit for this spot in

[38:27] the pack mini series it reappears with a

[38:29] passing Loop which makes sense since

[38:31] this is the middle station on the line

[38:33] further up the line is that part that

[38:35] runs through the spooky wooded area in

[38:37] season five beyond that is old bayley's

[38:39] station where Henry was spooked and my

[38:42] head Cannon this Crossing is actually a

[38:45] crossing for the now abandoned mid-sodor

[38:47] Railway akin to how the Cambrian and the

[38:49] Welsh Highland cross over each other in

[38:51] Wales I know that track is standard

[38:53] gauge but I will get further into that

[38:55] in a bit beyond that is the area where

[38:57] Henry's trucks derailed and then beyond

[38:59] that is the viaduct that was closed in

[39:01] Haunted Henry it's never seen on screen

[39:04] only mentioned and above that is the

[39:06] line's Terminus at peel godred aka the

[39:10] station by the lake the Big Green Engine

[39:12] was taking a good train to the station

[39:14] by the lake peel godward is only seen in

[39:17] the hit era I believe shown as a station

[39:19] raised above the town yeah fine by me

[39:22] the real end of this line and the

[39:24] industry of the line services is the

[39:27] Sodor Ironworks aka the smelter's yard

[39:30] the iOS book says that peel godred has

[39:33] an aluminum Works which isn't that

[39:36] different from an Ironworks this is the

[39:38] dreaded area that area Bird work and the

[39:41] steam engines dare not to go metal and

[39:43] scrap from Crocs scrap yard and

[39:45] elsewhere is brought here and smelted

[39:47] down in Stepney gets lost Stephanie took

[39:50] a wrong turn near kildane and ended up

[39:52] here where he nearly met his fate

[39:54] let's finish off the standard gauge

[39:56] stuff by looking over the final Branch

[39:59] line on this map the one to Kirk Ronan

[40:06] the Kirk Ronan Branch line is a recent

[40:09] development and it was constructed in

[40:11] season five in season 8 kelstorp was

[40:14] reconstructed as a bigger station to

[40:16] allow a separate platform for the branch

[40:18] line the line splits off West of

[40:20] kelstorpe Road and gradually descends as

[40:23] it goes towards the ocean along this

[40:25] stretch is Mr Jolly's Chocolate Factory

[40:27] very inconveniently located at the

[40:30] bottom of a hill I originally had this

[40:32] at the bottom of Gordon's Hill near

[40:34] Marin but I thought that it was stupid

[40:36] for one of the mainline's three tracks

[40:37] to just end at the Chocolate Factory So

[40:40] I placed it on this line the line then

[40:43] continues South past Roth's Castle as we

[40:45] see in season six this is the castle

[40:48] Alicia bati performed at this station is

[40:51] stupidly called Tidmouth Bay in season

[40:53] five and I don't get why it's nowhere

[40:56] near Tidmouth even on Sam's map or even

[40:59] near water so screw it it's Ralph's

[41:01] Castle I'm also aware that this and the

[41:03] prop for the castle to be discovered are

[41:06] the same ones but I don't think they're

[41:08] meant to be the same location Olstead

[41:10] Castle reopens with a single track in

[41:13] front of it while Ralph's Castle has a

[41:15] station building and multiple through

[41:16] tracks obviously the same set was used

[41:19] in season five but I don't think they're

[41:21] meant to be the same location it then

[41:24] travels past some farmlands before

[41:25] approaching the town of Kirk Ronan the

[41:28] line terminates here at the beautiful

[41:30] canopy station this is where Gordon

[41:33] infamously uh left his Mark and that my

[41:37] friends is the entirety of the standard

[41:40] gauge Railway Network however we are not

[41:44] done we still have lots of Narrow Gauge

[41:47] to discuss let's start with everyone's

[41:49] favorite scar lowy Railway

[41:53] foreign

[41:56] so I'm just going to preface this by

[41:59] saying that I really don't like how the

[42:01] scar Lily really looks in season six

[42:03] onwards season 6 is okay because they

[42:06] didn't stray too far but seven onwards

[42:09] just feels like a completely different

[42:11] Railway to The Comfy one introduced in

[42:13] four for the sake of keeping my head

[42:15] from exploding all of the locations on

[42:18] this map are only seasons four and five

[42:20] so naturally we'll start at crovin's

[42:23] gate the Terminus for the scarloi

[42:25] railway the sheds for the engines are

[42:27] here just behind the station the station

[42:29] itself is where the Narrow Gauge meets

[42:32] standard gauge departing the station the

[42:34] line curves there's a small Junction

[42:36] here where a short line Spurs off the

[42:38] line goes through this tunnel and into

[42:40] this industrial yard this is the

[42:42] facility where slate and Stone from the

[42:44] Quarry are cut and transferred to

[42:46] standard gauge trucks to be taken

[42:48] elsewhere in the books The Scarlet

[42:50] engine sheds are on a raised Wharf where

[42:52] slate is loaded into the standard gauge

[42:54] trucks obviously that's not present the

[42:57] TV series so there has to be some area

[43:00] where these transfers happen it was in

[43:03] this yard that Boulder destroyed an

[43:05] engine shed back to the main line the

[43:08] line curves past Farmland where sir

[43:09] handle was halted by sheep then there's

[43:12] another Junction that forms the loop

[43:14] line back to croven's gate for returning

[43:16] trains explaining why they always come

[43:18] past the sheds and into the station in

[43:20] the same direction they departed from in

[43:22] aerial shots we can see the line keeps

[43:25] going past the sheds in the distance the

[43:27] first stop on the line is crosne Kern I

[43:30] hope I'm saying that right before it is

[43:32] a bit of line that runs along a

[43:33] retaining wall and where Duncan derailed

[43:36] himself Rock and rolling after crosny

[43:38] Karen the line travels along the road

[43:40] for a short bit before crossing over it

[43:42] this is where Sir Handel and George

[43:44] faced off the railway crosses the river

[43:46] for the first time and heads up towards

[43:49] glenok glenok is this pretty station

[43:51] hidden in the trees after glenok the

[43:54] line starts to climb into the mountains

[43:55] and enters the forest of the scarlowy

[43:58] valley in this Forest is the little halt

[44:01] for the picnic area and then the line

[44:03] crosses the river again over this bridge

[44:05] not long after that the forest ends and

[44:08] the line traverses through Open Fields

[44:10] nowhere near the road it was on this

[44:13] loneliest part of the line reneus's

[44:16] valve gear jammed a little further ahead

[44:18] is another bridge this is the bridge

[44:20] that was washed away in special funnel

[44:22] right after the bridge is reneus tunnel

[44:25] in this tunnel Peter Sam got his funnel

[44:27] knocked off and Duncan got stuck at the

[44:29] other end of we're high in the Hills now

[44:32] and starting to reach civilization again

[44:34] the next stop is Renaissance the station

[44:36] by the waterfall a little engine shed is

[44:39] located here the line splits in two to

[44:41] create a loop here the left line goes to

[44:43] Lakeside and the right to scarloi we'll

[44:46] go left the line takes us to the big

[44:48] lake where it crosses it via a stone

[44:50] Causeway the ruins of Renee's Castle are

[44:53] here Lakeside is the next station and it

[44:55] is here the trains terminate before

[44:57] heading back down the line Peter Sam

[44:59] left the refreshment lady behind here

[45:01] leaving Lakeside the line goes around

[45:03] the lake and traverses over the viaduct

[45:05] before reaching a y continuing along the

[45:09] main line takes us to Scarlet station

[45:11] and it is here that sir handle derailed

[45:13] himself

[45:14] Scarlet station is also the point where

[45:16] trains go into the Slate mine jeer off

[45:19] the main track in trucks Peter Sam left

[45:21] his coaches here and pushed his empty

[45:24] wagons up to the mine the mine is in the

[45:27] mountains and requires some climbing to

[45:28] get to the lion travels over a Gorge

[45:31] here via the old Iron Bridge where

[45:33] Duncan was spooked by a Ghost Engine the

[45:35] line continues to climb a gradient where

[45:37] Peter Sam's trucks ran away before

[45:40] finally arriving at the Slate line in

[45:43] the TV series the Slate mine is high in

[45:45] the mountains and was also serviced by

[45:47] both the scarloy and the mid-sodor back

[45:51] at scarloi station there are two tracks

[45:53] that go in different directions the one

[45:55] that goes left is the one along the main

[45:57] to the mine there's another that goes

[45:59] straight and I'm just going to say that

[46:01] the engine sheds from season 6 onwards

[46:03] are located there man the Scarlet Witch

[46:06] is sure to have a lot of sheds don't

[46:07] they I like to think that these

[46:09] facilities were shared by the scarloi

[46:11] and the mid-sodor which makes sense

[46:13] because the mid-sodor terminated engines

[46:15] crossing the Mountain Road on the mid

[46:17] Sodor could rest and refuel here before

[46:19] the journey back over the mountains so

[46:21] that is the scarloi railway now let's

[46:26] talk the mid-sodor

[46:35] the mid-sodor railway might be the

[46:38] biggest change I've made to this map

[46:40] from Audrey's it completely changes

[46:43] everything but works into how the TV

[46:46] series portrays it so much better as the

[46:48] Coley fell Railway does not exist in the

[46:51] TV series The mid-sodor was the main

[46:53] method of Transport through sodor's big

[46:56] mountain range as evident by the several

[46:58] sets shared between the two Railways the

[47:00] mint Sodor and the Scarlet were owned by

[47:03] the same company and shared some of the

[47:05] same tracks not dissimilar to the

[47:07] festiniog and the Welsh Highland

[47:09] Railways in Wales the mid Sodor had

[47:11] access to the big slate mine in the

[47:13] mountains and terminated at Scarlet

[47:15] Railway stations scarloy station is the

[47:18] Terminus for the mid-sodor as shown in

[47:20] Bulldog passengers would transfer here

[47:22] for scarlowi trains to Groban's gate

[47:24] special trains would sometimes run

[47:26] further as we saw and you can't win when

[47:28] a mid-sodor train ran all the way to

[47:31] crovin's gate leaving scarloyd the

[47:33] mid-sodor travels right at the Y and

[47:35] into the mountains it goes through this

[47:38] Gorge with the Slate mine operating

[47:40] above it it was in this Gorge that

[47:42] scarloi got caught in an avalanche on

[47:45] route to Boulder Quarry speaking of

[47:47] Boulder Quarry that was one of the many

[47:49] quarries serviced by the mid Sodor that

[47:51] was abandoned when the railway was

[47:53] closed in Rusty on the boulder Topham

[47:56] decided to reopen the Quarry to mine

[47:57] Rock and scarloi engines were allowed up

[48:00] the old tracks to it after Boulder

[48:02] wreaked havoc Topham had the Quarry

[48:04] closed again and these tracks were again

[48:06] left abandoned traveling left at the

[48:08] junction continues along the main track

[48:10] through the mountains this series of

[48:12] Curves and wines is what makes up the

[48:14] mount Road near the peak is the tunnel

[48:17] where Falcon derailed and nearly fell to

[48:19] his death after the long tunnel the line

[48:21] started to descend and traveled past

[48:23] some locations marked on the mid-sodor

[48:25] map shown in Sleeping Beauty there's a

[48:27] little halt for Elm Farm which we never

[48:29] see on screen and then after that is

[48:31] what is simply called Old station at the

[48:34] station was the main sheds where smudger

[48:36] was turned into a generator and where

[48:38] Duke was buried the area is now totally

[48:41] abandoned and left in ruins the line

[48:43] would continue West until it reached the

[48:45] peel godred line and crossed over it on

[48:48] the other side is old Bailey's station

[48:50] now I know the track we see here in the

[48:53] show is standard gauge and I know we

[48:55] technically see Henry on it once but

[48:59] yeah I'm retconning that I love the idea

[49:02] of there being a crossover point between

[49:04] standard and Narrow Gauge and this is

[49:06] the only place on the whole map it could

[49:08] possibly happen I also love the idea of

[49:10] this track being totally abandoned

[49:12] because later on in by George they pull

[49:15] it up and pave over it I like to think

[49:17] old Bailey's station was restored by the

[49:19] Island's preservation Society but isn't

[49:21] actually maintained for real Railway use

[49:23] after that there's a junction I tried my

[49:26] best to keep this part of the line as

[49:28] accurate to the mid-sodor map shown in

[49:30] the show which is just the Isle of Wight

[49:32] railway map flipped upside down heading

[49:34] south takes the line past Duke's Village

[49:36] and then to its West Terminus at Vails

[49:39] bridge vale's bridge is never seen on

[49:41] screen however we know it must be some

[49:44] sort of Harbor one of sodor's longest

[49:47] rivers the hawan ab runs through here

[49:50] and it stated that in you can't win that

[49:52] Falcon took the train home for the

[49:54] passengers to catch their boat Falcon

[49:56] took Duke's passengers to the boat I

[49:59] like to think a steamboat service

[50:00] operated out of here up to peel godred

[50:02] and to the south of the island at

[50:04] Brandon and Beyond which of course all

[50:06] existed before the standard gauge

[50:08] Railway was built it's also called veils

[50:11] Bridge which of the origins of English

[50:13] names mean anything means there is a

[50:16] bridge here a bridge over water perhaps

[50:18] in the other direction at The Junction

[50:20] through the tunnel is the gold mine

[50:23] which was shared with the standard gauge

[50:24] Railway I think it's pretty widely

[50:27] accepted that Bertram was a mid-sodor

[50:30] engine

[50:33] and that my friends is the TV map of the

[50:37] island of Sodor the amount of time I

[50:40] have spent piecing together this thing

[50:42] is embarrassing but what can I say I

[50:45] love this [ __ ] the fact there are so

[50:47] many inconsistencies just makes it that

[50:49] much more fun to try and piece together

[50:51] it's like a challenge if everything on

[50:53] Sodor was perfectly straight laced and

[50:55] impeccable there'd be no fun in trying

[50:57] to map it all out before they are

[50:59] inevitably mentioned in the comments let

[51:02] me just go and acknowledge some of the

[51:03] locations I did not mark on this map

[51:05] because I still haven't quite figured

[51:07] them out yet the sports field halt this

[51:10] has to be somewhere on Thomas's line

[51:11] below Ells Bridge the cement works I

[51:14] guess this could be on the Kirk Ronan

[51:16] line or possibly near Brendan not

[51:18] totally sure the coal mine in season

[51:20] five haven't worked this one out yet

[51:23] either but I'd like to place it

[51:24] somewhere in the mining Network in the

[51:26] heart of Sodor the Pack's yard I guess

[51:29] this could be somewhere on the peel

[51:30] godward line but again I am not sure the

[51:34] beach station in Thomas and Stepney this

[51:36] could easily be somewhere on the coastal

[51:38] run but I'm hesitant to place it there

[51:40] because Thomas refers to being on his

[51:42] Branch line in the scene with it

[51:44] Thomas's Branch line barely touches the

[51:46] ocean so the only place I can really

[51:48] think it could go is southwest of old

[51:51] Harbor on the Harbor line does this even

[51:53] make sense yeah it's still working this

[51:55] out Stephanie's Branch line my head

[51:57] Cannon is that this is the Blue Bell

[51:59] Railway on the mainland just an

[52:01] alternate universe version of it so it's

[52:03] not on this map just like how I
