[00:00] ecology certainly makes our jobs easier.
[00:01] ecology certainly makes our jobs easier in so many ways but it's also made a lot.
[00:04] in so many ways but it's also made a lot harder to disconnect tonight wbz's Paula.
[00:07] harder to disconnect tonight wbz's Paula Ebben shows us one Boston company that's.
[00:09] Ebben shows us one Boston company that's found a way to cut back on the need to.
[00:11] found a way to cut back on the need to constantly be on the job.
[00:16] I was working every day all day get home I check I was.
[00:19] always answering emails work in 2018.
[00:22] means we're always connected before I go to bed I would check in on weekends as well.
[00:26] but now for employees at healthcare consulting firm dynamic unplugging after work isn't just a suggestion it's.
[00:32] company policy.
[00:34] well at first it seemed like can we really do this.
[00:37] in 2012 CEO Dan Calista came up with the idea for Z mail isn't catching some Z's and it's stuck.
[00:42] no work emails are allowed between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. or any time on weekends.
[00:47] that's right no emails it is not a work curfew.
[00:51] work when you want to work if you have some flexibility or burst of inspiration or creativity work when you.
[01:00] inspiration or creativity work when you want to work just don't hit Send on an email.
[01:02] want to work just don't hit Send on an email it was too good to be true that skepticism quickly gave way to a new appreciation of work-life balance.
[01:07] appreciation of work-life balance I feel as if on the weekends now I wouldn't even think to look at my phone because I'm not checking emails often.
[01:13] I'm not checking emails often I should run out of things to do on my phone.
[01:16] we've just made a more of an effort especially at home and especially on the weekends to put our phones away and the idea of a ban on after our emails could be spreading.
[01:25] last year France required all companies to come up with email limits for workers and in New York City lawmakers proposing similar legislation called the disconnecting from work bill.
[01:37] I don't believe it needs to be legislated I believe companies will come to find that their teams are more productive if they create a certain boundary.
[01:46] of course the key to any company-wide email ban is enforcement knowing a dynamic gets in trouble for ignoring the policy but they will be reminded as soon as they get to work.
[01:55] Liam and Lisa the gentle reminder Paula thank you.
