https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1P8XH9MleNw

[00:01] Leads, how we doing today? Today we're going to do, uh, what we call the warmup.
[00:06] The warmup gets you in a in a place of understanding your basics.
[00:12] We do everything inside of the warmup, right?
[00:16] The foundation is right there.
[00:19] So I'm going to do, uh, several moves.
[00:21] Your job is to understand those moves and how they move.
[00:23] So there's going to be a list.
[00:26] I want you to go through that list and read out how the moves are to be done.
[00:30] So the first move what we are to do is, you may hear me call it a side basic, but it's just stepping from right to left.
[00:42] So the first move is holding the one to the right.
[00:46] If I take my seven, eight, notice how I shift my weight.
[00:49] Then I'm going to balance to the right on my one.
[00:55] One is not necessarily a balanced number.
[00:57] Our balanced numbers are three, six, and eight.
[01:00] But right now, as you see me, I'm
[01:02] balancing on one so I'm going to hold the one the two and three comes with that number.
[01:08] so if I say one I want to say two and three with it.
[01:12] so right now I'm holding my one two three.
[01:14] I step left I'm holding 4 56.
[01:18] when I say four it comes with 5 six right with it.
[01:20] then I'm going to side step my seven.
[01:23] side step my eight right so we're going to do that three times and it looks like this from the beginning.
[01:30] 7 8 hold 1 2 3 hold 4 5 6 7 eight.
[01:33] notice I'm hitting my other foot I'm tapping the heel of my other foot right now three times.
[01:43] 1 2 3 4 five 6 7 8.
[01:46] 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8.
[01:57] 1 2 3 4 5 6.
[02:00] 7 8 now this last eight I'm going to
[02:05] make an adjustment right so when I come over to the four five six I'm going to step back with my eight but I aimed it in the position that I was going to go in which is a cross basic the next move is cross basic long one two adjust cross basic loan so I'm going to travel with the four four five6
[02:30] right so that's a long cross basic so again long cross basic from the whole uh right ho left is 7 8 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
[02:36] the next move is what we call a short cross basic
[02:45] now I'm going to do the short cross basic from the front and from the back notice when I do a short cross basic it's the same setup as the long cross basic but now after I've done whole right hold left I won't have my
[03:06] eight here right so when I come back from the long cross basic four five six is going to be seven eight because now I'm going to walk into the short cross basic and that moves like this one two step back and balance on three take my left foot point my toes forward and cross over my own body notice chest is forward so this is four step back five step back six notice my six is slightly further back than my five I balance on six six is the last step back before I then say seven and either eight in place or whichever direction that I'm going with my eight so from the front it looks like this seven8 short cross basing one two three I had to adjust cuz typically I would go here and long cross basic but I don't want to do that I want to point
[04:07] my feet forward cross over my own body.
[04:11] drop the five back six is the last step.
[04:15] back 7 8 so real time on a short cross.
[04:19] Basic 4 5 6 7 8 1 2 three four five my.
[04:26] bad so coming over 4 five 6 7 8 that is.
[04:34] the short cross basic after the short.
[04:37] cross basic we have what we call the.
[04:39] basic in place why is it the basic in.
[04:41] place cuz I'm doing it right in place 4.
[04:43] 5 6 7 8 1 2 3 4 five 6 7 8 that is the.
[04:51] basic in place after the basic in place.
[04:55] we as leads we're going to do what we.
[04:58] call the back and up this move is done.
[05:02] to make sure that the lady does her up.
[05:05] and back basic correctly so that looks.
[05:08] like this seven step back on eight eight
[05:11] is showing me the direction of travel so
[05:13] I'm traveling this way then it's one two
[05:17] together then I'm going to step up one
[05:20] three and continue my steps moving
[05:23] forward four five six is the last step
[05:27] so that six before I finish it up with
[05:30] seven and notice my seven is right here
[05:32] next to my eight all right so up and I
[05:34] me back and up basic and it looks like
[05:37] this four five 6 step back one two
[05:41] together three is up four five 6 7 8
[05:46] Real Time 4 5 6 78 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 eight
[05:54] that is called the back and up
[05:58] Basin after the back backing up basic we
[06:01] then have what we call the walk it out
[06:03] at8 why do we call the walk it out at8
[06:05] cuz I'm going to step my seven turn my
[06:08] eight at a 90° sharp 90° angle then I'm going to walk my steps out from there.
[06:14] but I do this turn at 8 so it looks like this four five 6 7 8 one two adjust drop my three back come home finishing the four with the short cross basic effect four.
[06:30] five six 78 so now I do the walk it out at eight real time four five six 7 8 1 2 3 4 five 6 7 8 notice how I step my six back cuz I want to always balance on six.
[06:49] so that is called the walking out at eight the next move in the warm up after the walk it out at 8 is what we call a single right turn for the leads and that that works like this four five 6 7 8 now I turn my one I want to turn my one into the turn I don't want to
[07:09] step up away from it so I don't want to go.
[07:11] 7 81 I want 7 8 1 so here's a right turn in place.
[07:19] 4 5 6 7 8 1 2 three notice the three is behind me finishing my steps.
[07:28] four five notice the six is in front of me.
[07:30] 78 real time single right turn for the leads.
[07:34] 4 5 6 7 8 1 2 3 4 five 6 7 8.
[07:43] that is a single right turn.
[07:45] the next move in the warmup after the single right turn is what we call the shuffle.
[07:50] the Shuffle works like this.
[07:53] and I'll actually show you the shuffle with the side view and then I'll turn around.
[07:57] the shuffle goes like like this.
[08:00] four five 6 78 Shuffle so this two feet to the front two feet to the back and I repeat the process right now if I add
[08:10] the numbers to those steps it sounds and looks like this 4 5 6 7 8 1 2 3 and four.
[08:21] 5 6 and so what took place the word and happened on my left foot in the back.
[08:27] both times this way it brings the numbers back true all right so from the back shuffling four five 6 7 8 1 2 3 and four.
[08:39] 5 6 and now at the end you have to take your 7 eight but notice what I do here I'm going to adjust my body to step my seven forward and adjust my eight so that it's in the back so notice I went from here to here all right.
[08:55] Shuffle real Time 4 5 6 7 8 1 2 3 and 4 5 6 and 7 8.
[09:08] notice how I've adjusted after the shuffle we do what we
[09:13] call an inside right turn right so it's kind of like a traveling right turn um
[09:20] but it has a unique pattern the way that is stepped so if you do a traveling turn in the place of that perfectly fine no worries
[09:30] so that inside right looks like this four five six seven eight so I have to start into it as though I was doing a cross basic one two step back on three
[09:42] I'm going to swing my body around with my four and notice I'm here I'm going to keep my five facing forward drop my six back and rock my seven eight
[09:53] this is called an inside right turn real time on the inside right turn four five six s eight one 2 3 four five six Rock seven eight
[10:06] that is called the inside right turn after the inside right turn we have the very last move which is called transition left when doing the
[10:15] transition left that just turns you to the next wall after you complete that wall
[10:19] either you can go through and give me a whole video of you doing the warm up right
[10:23] and uh this way you'll be able to get to all four walls if not just turning in one wall because it's all the same movement right
[10:34] so transition
[10:37] left four five 6 7 8 I'm setting up as though I'm about to do a cross basic but notice what happens
[10:46] I'll do my one two and balance on three and because it's called transition left if this was a line dance uh some folks would call it a quarter turn
[10:57] so what I'm doing when I say transition left I want my left foot to turn to face the new wall so I'm on three
[11:09] here's my four match my five drop my six back starting over 78 real time transition
[11:17] left four 5 6 7 8 1 2 3 four five 6 7 8.
[11:26] this will allow me to then start over.
[11:30] without holding the one holding the four.
[11:34] that's only done when you first start.
[11:36] the video all right and remember when starting the video you want to wait maybe 3 to 5 Seconds.
[11:42] you'll hear a sound in the music that's when you start and you start the count by saying 4 5 6 take your 78 and complete the warm up thank you for listening in I look forward to those videos.
