https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-n-WpzBfy8

[00:04] Welcome, my name is Nina Justiniano.
[00:08] I'm the director of nursing of Tia Allied Health school.
[00:11] Okay, we're here with Mrs. Manive Simon to teach you the hand washing skill, which is required, one of the 22 skills which is required by the health department and Prometric.
[00:26] We would like to begin.
[00:28] First, she had to make sure that her uniform doesn't touch any part of the sink.
[00:32] Her hands cannot touch any part of the sink.
[00:35] We're going to turn the warm water on.
[00:37] She's going to adjust it for temperature of comfort.
[00:41] She's going to wet her hands thoroughly.
[00:43] What we need to remember that the state requires that nurses wash their hands for 30 seconds.
[00:47] Our hands are completely wet.
[00:50] No shaking, because we don't want to put germs in the air.
[00:53] She's going to get two tablespoons of soap.
[00:58] She's going to start to now gather up a lather on the top surface of hands in both.
[01:04] Hands, she's going to interlock her fingers to get the germs in between the fingers.
[01:10] She's going to do the top and the bottom side of our fingers.
[01:13] Now she's going to do each finger individually.
[01:15] She's going to do her thumbs and all her fingers on both hands.
[01:20] Please be advised that remove all your jewelry for this skill.
[01:25] Okay, now she's going to do her nails, which is she's going to make a circle in the palm of her hand to clean her nails.
[01:32] You can sing Happy Birthday to me or ABC's twice and that will fulfill your 30 seconds.
[01:40] Now she's going to wash her wrists, both wrists.
[01:48] And finally she's going to rinse from the wrist to the fingertips without touching any portion of the sink for the faucet.
[02:01] Finally she's going to get a paper towel and she's going to pat dry her hands.
[02:05] Thoroughly do not shake because we don't want to rub to cause irritation to her skin.
[02:18] After completing the skill she's going to get a dry paper towel and turn the faucet off.
[02:26] Thank you.
[02:28] This skill is completed.
[02:39] Welcome, my name is Nina Justiniano.
[02:42] I'm the director of nurses at Tia Allied Health.
[02:44] I'd like to discuss indirect care which is one of the 22 skills that you must master and complete to complete your CNA training.
[02:54] Indirect care is evaluated with each skill.
[02:57] It is explaining to the patient in a resident what is going to be done during the skill.
[03:04] There's certain checkpoints that we must.
[03:07] Remember we must greet our resident and address them by name and introduce ourselves.
[03:13] We're going to provide an explanation to the resident about the care before and during.
[03:18] We're going to ask the resident about preferences during the care.
[03:22] We're going to use standard precautions and infectious control measures when providing the care.
[03:25] We're going to ask our resident about comfort or needs during the care and before the care is completed.
[03:32] And we're going to provide the resident with rights during the care and we're going to provide the resident with safety during the care.
[03:37] Please remember that we must provide confident safety and privacy through it all.
[03:44] The skills that we do for our residents in direct care is the explanation of what we're doing to our residents as we provide the care for them.
[03:55] And always remember safety, comfort, and privacy are first.
[03:58] Thank you.
[04:12] Welcome, my name is Nina Justiniano.
[04:16] I'm the director of nurses of Tia Allied Health, and for this video, we're going to be doing one of the 22 skills that's necessary that you master to get your CNA certification.
[04:25] I have Mrs. Monique Simon here, RN and nurse practitioner.
[04:32] She's going to be our resident patient.
[04:35] I'm going to get her out of the bed and walk her 10 steps.
[04:37] Our equipment is a gait belt we used to get her up and walk, and a chair that she's going to be sitting in.
[04:46] Okay, I'm going to start the skill now.
[04:52] Come in.
[04:52] Good morning, Mrs. Smith, how are you?
[04:55] Good morning, how you doing?
[04:56] I'm good.
[04:57] My name is Nina, I'm your CNA today, and I'm going to walk you 10 steps.
[04:59] You okay with that?
[05:01] One okay.
[05:02] Let me wash my hands, I'll be right back.
[05:05] Hand washing required.
[05:08] Let me check your ID, please.
[05:11] All right, I'm going to lock your bed and we need to touch.
[05:13] The curtain for the Staples and provide privacy.
[05:17] Okay.
[05:19] I'm going to raise the head of your bed.
[05:21] Okay, sure.
[05:22] Nice to know that you're getting up.
[05:25] I'm gonna raise the head of your back.
[05:31] You getting up for the first time today, Mrs.?
[05:32] Yeah, yeah, so we're gonna do it very slowly and you let me know how you're feeling.
[05:37] You're good?
[05:37] Yes, all right.
[05:40] All right, I'm gonna remove your sheet now.
[05:43] Do not shake the linen.
[05:46] I'm gonna put my hand behind your back and slowly turn you to the side and dangle you.
[05:51] How you doing? How you feeling?
[05:53] Okay, all right, let me put your sneakers on.
[05:59] Non-skid footwear, make sure the sneakers are on.
[06:05] Put your foot in.
[06:08] Cameraman.
[06:10] This is a gait belt; it's applied outside of her clothing.
[06:14] Please put your hands on my shoulder.
[06:18] It's below her breasts.
[06:21] Cameraman.
[06:23] Make sure that the tag is on the inside.
[06:28] Pull your gait belt snug but not tight.
[06:32] But does not impede any breathing.
[06:35] How you feeling, are you comfortable?
[06:37] Yes, all right.
[06:39] The belt cannot be hanging, must look neat.
[06:41] All right, now for the prompt.
[06:43] I'm going to tell her on the count of three I'm going to stand her and see how she's feeling.
[06:47] Are you ready, Mrs.?
[06:50] On the count of three, one, two, three, stand.
[06:54] How are you doing?
[06:57] I'm doing well.
[06:59] Very good for the first time.
[07:03] Please nurses, pay attention to my hand position on the gait belt.
[07:07] I have my hands under like so.
[07:10] I'm going to move her.
[07:11] Mrs. Brown, please move your right foot forward, one.
[07:14] Left foot, two.
[07:16] Right foot, three.
[07:18] Left foot, four.
[07:18] Five.
[07:19] Six.
[07:21] Seven.
[07:22] Eight.
[07:23] Nine, ten.
[07:23] Please pay attention, nurses, to my leg placement.
[07:27] If she was to get weak or dizzy, I would be able to control her fall with the gait belt and my hands here and my thigh here, and I can guide her to the floor safely.
[07:39] If you stand to the side, the patient will fall and you will fall with the patient.
[07:45] Okay, so we're going to move forward.
[07:49] You're going to turn very slowly, Mrs.
[07:52] Turn slowly.
[07:55] Okay, please feel the back of the chair on your legs.
[07:56] You feel it?
[07:56] Yes, I do.
[07:59] Now you ease down very slowly.
[08:02] How you feeling?
[08:02] Good.
[08:02] All right, the gait belt is removed.
[08:10] I'm going to give her her call light.
[08:21] Okay, you okay?
[08:21] Yes, if you need anything, call me.
[08:23] I will.
[08:23] Hand washing required.
[08:26] That is the completion of this skill.
[08:28] Thank you.
[08:38] Welcome.
[08:39] My name is Nina Justin Yano.
[08:41] I'm the director of nursing of Tia Allied Health.
[08:46] This is Mrs. Minif Simon, RN, nurse practitioner, and she's going to help me with the skill.
[08:54] We're going to do giving the bedpan.
[08:57] Equipment is as follows.
[08:59] This is called a fracture bedpan.
[09:02] This is used for people who have a broken hip or spinal surgery.
[09:08] This bedpan is your standard bedpan that we use with bedpans.
[09:11] Women use the bedpan to urinate and have a bowel movement, but men only use the bedpan to have a bowel movement.
[09:18] They use an...
[09:21] Urinal to urinate.
[09:24] For this skill we need a blue pad.
[09:29] I'm not gonna knock on the door.
[09:31] I'm going to introduce myself.
[09:33] I'm going to show you how to apply the bedpan appropriately.
[09:40] Good morning Mrs. Jones, my name is Nina.
[09:43] How can I help you this morning?
[09:46] Yes, yes ma'am, hand washing required.
[09:50] I'm gonna lock the bed.
[09:52] I'm going to provide privacy and don't forget for the state boards to please touch the curtain.
[09:57] You don't need to check the ID for someone that needs a bedpan.
[10:01] They need the bedpan, let's give them the bedpan, okay.
[10:03] I'm going to bring the bed up just slightly.
[10:05] This is brown, okay, okay.
[10:10] Foreign.
[10:23] And I'm going to show you the different bed pans.
[10:27] We need a blue pad to protect our primary sheet.
[10:31] Please Mrs, could you please bend your knees and lift up for me?
[10:35] Lift please, Mrs.
[10:38] Lift up, thank you.
[10:38] The bed pad will slide under like so, down.
[10:44] Another way to apply the bed pan, lift your hips, Mrs.
[10:50] Is to please turn to the side, Mrs.
[10:55] Replace the bed pan, camera mat like so.
[10:58] The bed pan must be put this way.
[11:00] This is the correct way for comfort.
[11:03] She could roll back onto the pan like so.
[11:05] Now the use of the fracture pan, the fracture bed pan is used like so.
[11:12] Slide it this way and she could roll back onto the bedpan.
[11:15] What we need to remember as nurses is this: the bedpan can never go on the bedside stand ever, or any urinals.
[11:24] Okay, you can place your bed pan here or on the floor.
[11:26] Okay, for this video, I'm going to use the standard big bed pan.
[11:32] Please lift up, Mrs.
[11:34] I place this on the floor.
[11:36] Please bend your knees.
[11:39] Both knees, please, misses, and lift up and down.
[11:44] All right, for this, we need to put the head of the bed up.
[11:47] She needs to be in a sitting position when she's using the bed pan.
[11:58] How you doing there, Mrs. Jones?
[12:00] Good.
[12:02] You good?
[12:03] Yes, yes, all right.
[12:04] I'm going to give her the toilet paper, Mrs. Jones.
[12:11] The call light.
[12:14] When she's done, she's going to call me, and I'm going to retrieve the pan.
[12:20] Okay, I'm done.
[12:22] All right, knock on the door.
[12:24] Are you ready to get off the bed?
[12:26] Yes, I think I'm finished.
[12:29] Okay, I need you to take the toilet paper.
[12:32] Please wash your hands for me.
[12:36] Okay, what we need to remember, nurses, is that you don't need the bedpan the gloves to give the bedpan, but you need gloves to retrieve it.
[12:43] So I'm going to get my gloves.
[12:47] Foreign.
[12:53] Required.
[12:57] Put my gloves on.
[13:04] I'm gonna pay in my back.
[13:09] I'm going to lower the head a little bit.
[13:11] Nurses, we meet, you cannot get the patient off the bed then with them sitting in an upright position.
[13:15] I'm going to lower the head of your business, okay?
[13:21] One second.
[13:28] I'm going to ask you to please bend your knees and lift up whenever we take the bed pan and you cover it with your blue pad in one motion cover your patient.
[13:45] How you feeling Mrs. Jones, you okay?
[13:46] That's better.
[13:46] Okay, so now we're gonna pretend empty it in there.
[13:52] Aqua mode.
[13:54] Rinse it out.
[13:56] Empty it in our commode.
[13:56] Throw your blue pad out.
[14:00] Return it to the bedside stand.
[14:04] Take our gloves off.
[14:10] Discard of our gloves.
[14:15] Say hand washing required.
[14:19] How you doing?
[14:19] I'm going to give you the call light.
[14:24] Okay, here's your call light, Mrs.
[14:24] Thank you.
[14:29] I'm gonna raise the head of your bed a little bit please.
[14:30] And I'm going to lower it if I erased it and put it in the lowest position.
[14:38] Okay, what we need to remember are points to remember for this skill.
[14:41] The bed pan can never go on the bedside stand.
[14:44] Either bedpan, you must have a blue pad under the patient to make sure you don't soil your primary sheet.
[14:52] Hand washing is required at the end of the skill.
[14:57] Do you need anything else, Mrs.?
[15:00] Would you like your curtain open?
[15:01] Okay, I'm gonna touch the curtain and open the curtain.
[15:05] That's the end of our skill, thank you.
[15:18] Welcome, my name is Nina Justdeniano.
[15:21] I'm the director nurse in the Tia Allied Health.
[15:23] This is Mrs. Minive Simon, RN nurse practitioner, and we will be demonstrating changing the bed with.
[15:31] Someone in it is called changing the occupied bit right for this procedure.
[15:36] Eye equipment is a fitted sheet, a top sheet, and a pillowcase.
[15:39] That's all we need for the state boards.
[15:41] All right, I'm going to begin with the procedure.
[15:44] I'm going to knock on the door.
[15:46] Man, good morning, Mrs. Smith, how are you?
[15:51] Good morning, my name is Nina and I came to change your sheets while you're in the bed.
[15:54] Are you okay with that?
[15:55] Yes.
[15:56] All right, let me get my supplies and I'll be right back.
[15:58] I have my supplies.
[15:59] Hand washing required.
[16:01] I'm gonna lock the bed and provide privacy.
[16:04] Don't forget to touch the privacy curtain during the state boards.
[16:08] Matt, please see your ID.
[16:11] All right, so now I'm going to bring your bed up to a working level for me.
[16:16] Okay, Mrs. Smith?
[16:17] Yes, okay.
[16:18] I'm bringing her bed up.
[16:23] And I'm going to lower the head of our bed very slightly.
[16:26] How you doing, okay?
[16:29] Like to turn in position video we are.
[16:32] Going to cross our arms and we're going to bring her over to me slightly and section and the bottom.
[16:43] Bring your legs off, okay?
[16:45] For this video, I'm going to leave the sheet open so you can observe me changing the sheets.
[16:53] On the count of three, I'm going to turn you.
[16:55] Ready? One, two, three.
[17:00] This is our core length.
[17:03] We always start from top to bottom.
[17:06] Nurses, we always go from clean to dirty.
[17:08] This is the direction that we go.
[17:10] Keep the sheet away from your uniform.
[17:12] Doing the state boards, the patient cannot touch this part of the mattress.
[17:17] She must remain on the sheet.
[17:21] You're going to open up your sheet.
[17:23] This is a fitted sheet.
[17:26] Please make sure that the sheet does not touch the floor.
[17:31] Go corner.
[17:33] To Corner.
[17:49] You're putting your sheet on the bed.
[17:51] Okay, Mrs.
[17:55] She goes to the bottom like so.
[17:59] Now nurses, pay attention.
[18:04] The clean sheet goes under the dirty sheet.
[18:06] Lift it up first, it under as far as you can get the shape underneath her.
[18:14] Please be advised if your sheets must be wrinkle free and smooth as you can get it.
[18:23] Okay, Mrs. Jones, I'm going to turn you back over the bump.
[18:29] I'm gonna walk around the side of the bed.
[18:33] I'm gonna bring her over.
[18:36] Come over sir, just a little bit, a little bit.
[18:41] And cross our legs and bring her over.
[18:43] Now on the count of three I'm going to turn you.
[18:45] You ready?
[18:46] One, two, three.
[18:49] Okay, now nurses pay attention.
[18:53] We start at the top, we work our way down.
[18:56] Roll the sheet away from you.
[18:59] Pull the clean sheet out.
[19:14] Okay, Mrs. lay flat.
[19:17] I kept it uncovered so you could see the sheet in the position, but please be advised to keep your patient covered at all times.
[19:25] Please hold the sheet.
[19:27] This is the doc, the dirty sheet.
[19:33] Just goes in the hamper.
[19:38] The clean sheet.
[19:41] This is a clean one; goes on top.
[19:48] How you doing, Mrs. Jones?
[19:51] Do not fan the sheets.
[19:54] Do not shake the linen; you're putting germs in the air.
[19:57] Please miss this, please.
[20:00] Hold this for me.
[20:02] Top.
[20:04] You're going under.
[20:06] And you're going to remove the dirty sheet.
[20:10] And keep it away from your uniform and place it in the hamper.
[20:15] Now I'm going to look at Mrs. Jones.
[20:18] I'm gonna line the sheet up.
[20:22] Make sure it's even, both sides.
[20:32] Again, mighty corner.
[20:44] how you doing Mrs Jones
[20:46] you're going to lift and sweep
[20:49] sweep again
[20:51] go to this side
[20:55] straighten our sheet out nice and neat
[20:58] lift again
[21:00] sweep
[21:03] now the last thing we changed is our
[21:06] pillowcase
[21:07] all right
[21:09] this is our new pillowcase I'm going to
[21:12] support her neck and remove the pillow
[21:15] now down
[21:16] now what we need to remember as nurses
[21:18] if there's any zipper or tag on the
[21:22] pillow
[21:23] it goes inside first because we don't
[21:26] want this tag or any zippers to enjoy
[21:29] our patient
[21:31] I'm gonna do that like so
[21:34] open up your new pillowcase
[21:39] very neatly fold it slip aside in first
[21:43] and your tag
[21:45] keep the pillow away from you
[21:48] away from your uniform your uniform is
[21:50] dirty
[21:51] one thing we need to understand is that
[21:53] the opening
[21:55] to the pillow goes away from the door
[21:57] it's about appearances I'm gonna lift
[21:59] ahead very gently and I can place the
[22:01] pillow if you want to flip your
[22:03] patient's pillow you can still do it
[22:04] this way without having to open it put
[22:08] your head down very gently
[22:10] all right I'm going to lower a bit
[22:13] no in your bed
[22:22] I'm gonna raise the head of your bed a
[22:24] little bit
[22:25] you okay it's good okay would you like
[22:27] your curtain open or closed close please
[22:29] okay I'm Gonna Leave Her cotton open
[22:31] close here's your Cola
[22:34] anything else you need no all right
[22:36] you're done you okay yes all right
[22:38] that's the end of the skill hand washing
[22:40] required it's in the Disco If you forget
[22:42] something don't forget to say
[22:45] correction
[22:46] until the Proctor that what your
[22:49] correction is thank you that's the end
[22:51] of the skill
[23:02] welcome my name is Nina justiniano I'm
[23:06] the director of nursing at Tia Allied
[23:08] Health this is Mrs Simon Oren nurse
[23:12] practitioner and she'll be our patient
[23:15] in this demonstration we're going to
[23:17] demonstrate from this clinical skill
[23:19] checklist sheet sideline position or
[23:22] turning and position our patients this
[23:25] is our equipment we need three pillows
[23:27] to keep our patient turned on the side
[23:30] the purpose for turning and positioning
[23:32] our patient is because we want to
[23:34] prevent any decubitus ulcers any blood
[23:38] clots any pneumonia so our patients must
[23:40] return every two hours and I'm going to
[23:42] demonstrate the skill now
[23:45] first thing you must do is hand washing
[23:48] required I'm going to wash my hands I'm
[23:52] going to lock the bed I'm going to
[23:53] provide privacy please be advised that
[23:56] you must touch the Privacy curtain
[23:58] during your exam Mrs Jones can I check
[24:02] your ID that's Mrs Jones ID all right
[24:05] next thing I'm going to do is going to
[24:07] raise the bed up
[24:11] to a good working position so I don't
[24:14] hit any injuries I'm going to lower the
[24:17] head of her bed slightly Mrs Jones I'm
[24:19] going ahead of your back
[24:21] the next thing I'm going to do is going
[24:24] to cross her arms
[24:25] and I need to bring her closer to me
[24:27] because she's in the middle of the bit
[24:29] so if you're going to bring her over
[24:30] some
[24:32] okay we're gonna do the middle
[24:35] and now we're gonna do her legs
[24:40] next I'm going to tell Mrs Jones if we
[24:42] must provide keep her covered I'm going
[24:45] to turn you on the count of three you
[24:46] ready Mrs Jones yes one two three
[24:50] I'm turning her now the first pillow is
[24:53] placed here in the Seiko area
[24:56] to prevent the cubitus you take your
[24:58] pillow you push it under
[25:01] your patient or your resident you fold
[25:03] it in half
[25:05] you push it under again
[25:08] and you roll her back onto the pillow
[25:11] the pillow should not come out
[25:13] second place second thing you must do is
[25:16] Mrs Jones is laying on her shoulder and
[25:19] it's very uncomfortable please take your
[25:21] hand and move Mrs Jones off her shoulder
[25:24] because she can receive a decubitus on
[25:26] any bony Province the back of her head
[25:29] her elbows between her knees the next
[25:32] pillow is placed between her knee and
[25:36] her ankles
[25:37] how you feeling Mrs Jones
[25:40] okay
[25:42] okay this is the position the knees are
[25:45] not touching and neither is the ankle
[25:47] the next pillow is placed under Mrs
[25:49] Jones's elbow like so to provide comfort
[25:53] for her elbow
[25:57] nurses stand at the foot of the bed make
[26:00] sure that your patient is in good body
[26:02] alignment
[26:04] now I'm going to fix her sheet

[28:34] we must take the Gown off the strong arm
[28:37] first because we need slack in order to
[28:41] get the
[28:43] down off the week on so I'm gonna go
[28:46] around the bed
[28:48] while I'm doing that I'm gonna lock the
[28:50] bed

[30:27] in a strong arm
[30:51] please make sure the shirt is
[30:54] comfortable for our resident
[30:57] now we must button it up completely
[31:01] so we started our top button
[31:03] and we button her shirt
[31:07] is buttoned
[31:10] completely
[31:24] removing our gown now

[32:14] the pants lick up like so
[32:18] I'm gonna maintain our privacy I'm gonna
[32:20] lower the head in her bed just slightly
[32:24] I'm going ahead of your bed Mrs
[32:27] this will help me
[32:29] to place her pants
[32:33] provide privacy at all times
[32:36] turn slightly for me we're going to turn
[32:39] it over slightly
[32:45] I'm going to come to this side of the
[32:47] bed
[32:49] and adjust her pants
[32:53] very gently
[32:57] the pants up
[33:05] you can remove your sheet now
[33:09] button
[33:15] I'm gonna move that side in but socks
[33:17] are next

[33:22] properly
[33:23] line them up with the toe box
[33:30] make sure the heel is in
[33:34] so
[33:36] we're going to walk around
[33:40] we're going to put the other sock one
[33:43] very gently
[33:48] lining the toes up with the toe box
[33:56] everything must look neat
[33:59] you're gonna put another shirt
[34:03] is button up properly
[34:08] Mrs Jones I'm gonna Elevate the head of

[35:33] each step and this directive of the
[35:36] clinical skill checklist sheet these are
[35:39] some of the supplies that we need we

[36:37] measure please be advised that this
[36:39] graduate cannot go on the bedside stand
[36:41] or any bed pants for any reason she's
[36:44] going to use her graduate
[36:50] the spout
[36:51] cannot touch any part of The Graduate as
[36:54] she empties the drainage bag
[36:57] the bag can never touch the floor it
[36:59] must be below the bladder at all times
[37:02] she's going to empty the drainage bag
[37:04] please be advised that the quality of
[37:06] your urine will be in the tubing
[37:08] not in the back this this urine is still
[37:11] has been here for eight hours or longer
[37:13] if you need a urine sample you would
[37:15] take it from this port
[37:17] the nurse will support your nurse should
[37:20] provide you with alcohol pad and a
[37:23] syringe to get the sample from this port
[37:25] now she's going to empty
[37:27] do not point the spout at your face
[37:32] goes in One Direction and every drop
[37:35] of the Uranus in the drainage bag must
[37:38] be empty for the state exam
[37:45] when all the units out of the drainage
[37:48] bag we're gonna close it
[37:51] use our alcohol pad to go from clean to
[37:54] dirty so we're going to go inside in One
[37:56] Direction
[38:01] out another alcohol pad for outside in
[38:04] the opposite direction
[38:06] she's going to pick up all her supplies
[38:08] return the spout
[38:15] she's going to take all her supplies in
[38:16] her blue pad to the sink
[38:21] and she's going to wait for it to stop
[38:23] oscillating we do not read this holding
[38:25] it up it must be done on us
[38:29] on a Surface a flat surface now please
[38:32] be advised nurses that each line is 25.
[38:36] we're going in millimeters or CC's so
[38:39] each line is 25 okay how much do we have
[38:42] in the bag
[38:44] 475 okay this is dumped in our commode
[38:53] rinsed out and dried
[39:07] we're going to return the graduate to
[39:09] the bottom
[39:10] where the bed pins and toilet paper is
[39:13] kept
[39:16] okay Miss Simon is going to throw her
[39:19] blue pad in the garbage
[39:21] she's now going to remove her gloves
[39:23] please pay attention to the removal of
[39:25] the gloves
[39:33] now hand washing is required please
[39:36] review your hand washing skill now after
[39:39] she does that
[39:40] [Applause]
[39:43] this form of your intake and output
[39:45] sheet must be filled out correctly she
[39:48] got 475 she will write in the output
[39:52] which is under urine emesis and diarrhea
[39:55] the time that she emptied it and the
[39:57] amount which is 475 and her initials
[40:02] do not fill out this paper without
[40:04] washing your hands your hands must be
[40:07] washed before you touch this paper Okay
[40:10] so she filled out her paper
[40:12] hand washing required
[40:15] just put on time
[40:21] 475
[40:23] except yeah Circle urine
[40:25] and her initials
[40:29] as you can see she put the time
[40:32] the amount of urine which is 475 CC's or
[40:36] MLS and her initials
[40:39] okay this com this skill is complete
[40:42] thank you
[40:54] welcome my name is Nina justiniano I'm
[40:57] the director of nursing at Tia Allied
[40:59] Health this is Mrs Simon RN nurse
[41:03] practitioner and we are going to
[41:05] demonstrate one of the 22 skills that's
[41:07] necessary for you to complete your CNA
[41:10] training and pass your state boards the
[41:12] school we're going to practice now is
[41:14] feeding cameraman the equipment that we
[41:16] need is we need the food and fluid
[41:19] intake and output form
[41:21] we need a spoon
[41:22] some water a bib to cover her clothes
[41:25] and a snack for her to eat because we
[41:28] are feeding the resident a snack what we
[41:31] need to remember is we do not stand over
[41:34] our residents or our patients to feed
[41:36] them it's disrespectful and if they
[41:39] hyper extend their neck they can
[41:41] aspirate their food all right so now I'm
[41:45] going to say hand washing required
[41:48] knock on the door
[41:51] I come in good morning Mrs Jones my name
[41:54] is Nina I came to feed your stack are
[41:56] you okay with that yes sure all right
[41:58] may I please check your ID okay you'll
[42:00] miss this Jones Mrs Jones you're not
[42:02] sitting properly in the chair could you
[42:04] please sit up for me in the proper
[42:06] position all right so you must wash your
[42:09] hands so we're going to give Mrs Jones a
[42:12] hand wipe to wash our hands
[42:24] okay
[42:25] now I'm going to place a bib
[42:27] this is a chuck
[42:29] but your facility will provide you we're
[42:32] going to use this as our bid for this
[42:34] demonstration we're going to cover for
[42:36] clothes like so
[42:39] and you're going to sit down and feed
[42:42] her and engage her in Pleasant
[42:44] conversation how are you today
[42:47] I came to give you your snack are you
[42:49] okay yes yes I'm gonna take the cover
[42:51] off of apple sauce is her favorite and
[42:54] we must give her a sip of fluid
[42:56] to moisten her throat
[42:59] to help her swallow
[43:00] now we're going to give you spoon only
[43:03] no forks for feeding
[43:07] small three thirds full
[43:14] how is it Mrs
[43:16] good all right
[43:19] you know your daughter sent this they
[43:21] said this was your favorite snack
[43:30] you ready
[43:32] okay after the third spoonful
[43:36] we're gonna give her a sip of fluid to
[43:39] help her swallow
[43:46] one more Super fluid yes
[43:51] want some more
[43:52] yes please okay again
[43:56] there's two thirds full
[44:00] a lot of hard time to swallow her food
[44:03] observe her swallowing
[44:12] I think that's enough okay you're done a
[44:14] little sip of fluid
[44:20] more
[44:22] there's one more what type of fluid
[44:29] done good when you complete this skill
[44:33] please remove her bib
[44:38] clean your mouth
[44:39] you can do it with the bib
[44:41] okay we could throw this in the garbage
[44:45] please observe
[44:48] what Mrs Jones has eaten this is your
[44:50] intake and output so we're gonna check
[44:53] here
[44:55] snack
[44:57] she ate quite a bit I would say 75 5 of
[45:01] the snack gonna check 75 percent
[45:05] and her fluids
[45:06] she drunk almost all of it I'm gonna
[45:08] give her a hundred percent
[45:10] and then you're going to sign your name
[45:12] here
[45:18] you're going to wash your hands and say
[45:20] hand washing required
[45:24] this is your core like Mrs
[45:26] is it anything else I could do for you
[45:28] no okay so now I'm going to clean up my
[45:31] area
[45:35] supplies
[45:36] we're going to dispose of it
[45:40] and leave us checklists for our
[45:43] Prometric examiner to check
[45:47] thank you
[45:49] it's the end of the skill
[46:00] welcome
[46:01] my name is Nina justiniano I'm the
[46:04] director nurse in the Tia Allied Health
[46:06] this is Mrs Simon RN nurse practitioner
[46:10] and we're going to be demonstrating one
[46:13] of the critical skills
[46:16] that's required for you to get your CNA
[46:19] certification as one of 20 skills that
[46:21] you must Master but this skill
[46:23] from the state is considered a critical
[46:26] skill you must do this skill correctly
[46:29] all right I'm good the equipment that we
[46:31] need it's just my two fingers
[46:34] and uh watch
[46:36] I suggest that you get a watch with a
[46:39] second hand
[46:41] so this is how we're going to do this
[46:43] skill
[46:44] okay I'm gonna knock on the door
[46:47] come in good morning Mrs Smith how are
[46:49] you good
[46:51] I'm fine thank you I came to do your
[46:53] post are you okay with that sure it's
[46:55] part of your Vital Signs okay okay could
[46:58] you please place your wrist you must
[47:01] provide Comfort hand washing required I
[47:05] checked her ID now this is part of the
[47:07] Comfort please paste a nice towel
[47:09] underneath her arm follow her thumb
[47:12] all the way to here one two fingers and
[47:16] this is her radio pulse you're going to
[47:19] count it for one full minute
[48:25] the minute is up
[48:26] I counted 78.
[48:30] now what we need to remember for this
[48:32] skill is
[48:33] doing this testing for the state boards
[48:36] the state examiner is going to be taking
[48:38] the pulse on the opposite hand at the
[48:41] same exact time as you were taking the
[48:43] post you must get between four beats
[48:47] positive or negative so if I got an 80
[48:52] and a state examiner gets a 82 you pass
[48:55] if I got an 80 and the state examiner
[48:59] gets a 78 you pass if I got an 80 and
[49:03] the state Exemplar gets a 86 you fail
[49:05] this is considered a critical skill
[49:08] please be advised that you use these two
[49:11] fingers to check for the Post do not use
[49:14] your thumb if you use your thumb you're
[49:17] taking your own posts so once again
[49:19] these two fingers counted for one full
[49:21] minute my suggestion is that you get a
[49:24] watch with a second on hand on it and
[49:26] always count your posts for one full
[49:29] minute hand washing required that's the
[49:32] end of this skill thank you
[49:43] welcome my name is Nina justiniano I'm
[49:46] the director nurse at Tia Allied Health
[49:48] this is Mrs Simon nurse practitioner RN
[49:53] we are going to demonstrate one of the
[49:55] 22 skills that's required for you to
[49:57] pass the state exam okay the skill we're
[50:01] going to demonstrate is respiration
[50:04] equipment required is either a watch
[50:08] with a second hand or something to count
[50:11] you must do the respirations for one
[50:14] full minute please be advised that do
[50:17] not tell your resident that you're doing
[50:19] the respirations because they're going
[50:20] to stop breathing just tell them you're
[50:22] doing the vital signs okay we're going
[50:24] to knock on the door
[50:27] come in good afternoon Mrs Jones how are
[50:30] you I'm awesome India my name is Nina
[50:32] and I came to do some vital signs for
[50:34] you are you okay with that oh sure all
[50:36] right let me wash my hands and I'll be
[50:38] right with you hand washing required may
[50:40] I please see your ID
[50:42] okay so now I'm gonna do some Vital
[50:45] Signs I'm going to place your hand like
[50:47] so on your chest and I'm going to count
[50:49] your respirations for one full minute
[50:57] foreign
[51:57] watch our chest rise and fall is
[52:00] considered one breath
[52:03] okay please remember the normal adult
[52:05] respirations are between 12 and 20.
[52:09] skill is complete hand washing be quiet
[52:12] I'm going to give you your core light
[52:17] thank you thank you
[52:20] skill is complete
[52:32] welcome my name is Nita Justin Yano I'm
[52:36] the director of Tia Allied Health and
[52:39] this is Mrs manive Simon RN nurse
[52:42] practitioner and we're going to
[52:43] demonstrate the catheter care that's
[52:46] required one of the 22 skills that you
[52:48] must Master to get your CNA
[52:50] certification but before I start the
[52:53] skill I would like to explain some of
[52:55] the catheters that you're going to be
[52:56] using in your career please be advised
[52:59] that only an RN or a doctor can insert a
[53:02] catheter your job is to keep the
[53:05] catheter clean that's what the CNA does
[53:08] so let us begin with the cavernous so my
[53:11] equipment that we need is a washcloth a
[53:14] basin with some warm water soap gloves a
[53:17] towel okay these are some of the
[53:19] catheters that you might use in your
[53:21] nursing career so you need to be aware
[53:24] of them this is called a credit catheter
[53:26] this is used for a man who has an
[53:29] enlarged prostate if you use a regular
[53:32] catheter it will not pass
[53:34] this catheter is a three-way catheter if
[53:37] you notice it has two parts one port is
[53:40] for the drainage bag and the other Port
[53:42] is for the irrigation that's going to
[53:44] irrigate the man's bladder after the
[53:46] procedure called a terp transures
[53:48] resection and our final catheter is a
[53:52] straight catheter it has no balloon it
[53:54] goes into the bladder it drains the
[53:56] bladder completely and that catheter is
[53:58] removed and now this is our standard
[54:00] Foley catheter if you notice it tells
[54:03] you the size this is a 14 French they
[54:05] come zero up to maybe a size 23 and it
[54:09] also tells you how much water needs to
[54:11] be and put into the balloon to inflate
[54:13] it it says 10 milliliters I'm going to
[54:16] show you how the catheter is kept in the
[54:19] bladder
[54:22] the nurse or the doctor inserts the
[54:24] solution of sterile water
[54:26] into the bladder
[54:28] and there is your balloon
[54:30] this balloon keeps the catheter inside
[54:33] the bladder where it does not slide out
[54:35] to remove it you must get a syringe
[54:39] of 10cc syringe look so
[54:43] and you put it here
[54:45] and you withdraw all the solution into
[54:49] the black the balloon is flat and it
[54:51] slides out without any discomfort for
[54:53] our patient
[54:55] so now we're going to start our
[54:56] procedure
[54:57] okay Mrs Simon is going to knock on the
[55:00] door
[55:01] she's going to introduce herself she's

[55:43] she's gonna lock her bed
[55:47] and she's going to provide privacy
[55:50] now she has her gloves
[55:54] foreign
[55:59] we're using the four corner technique
[56:02] this is your washcloth you're going to

[58:43] down
[58:44] she's going to go around and down three
[58:46] inches being careful not to pull on the

[01:03:44] remember ladies
[01:03:47] for the state boards we're only washing
[01:03:48] one foot for the state boards
[01:03:52] we're not pushing any cuticles back we
[01:03:55] are not shaving down any core anything
[01:03:57] like that we're just doing straight foot
[01:03:59] care with soap and water and we proceed
[01:04:02] we're gonna wet a washcloth
[01:04:06] now
[01:04:08] for this skill
[01:04:10] I'm gonna fold it in half and in half
[01:04:13] again that's our four corners but I'm
[01:04:16] just going to put soap on one corner
[01:04:22] I'm going to lift our foot up make sure
[01:04:25] my washcloth is washed and I'm going to
[01:04:27] proceed to wash the top of her foot
[01:04:31] and the bottom of her foot
[01:04:34] now we're going to go between each toe
[01:04:39] she got five toes
[01:04:41] so we're going to go through each
[01:04:43] now we're going to to rinse
[01:04:51] this gives you the opportunity to
[01:04:52] observe your patient your residence foot
[01:04:55] for any sores or swelling we're going to
[01:04:58] place our foot on a towel a dry towel

[01:05:06] her foot
[01:05:07] please make sure you go through each toe
[01:05:11] and dry each toe individually
[01:05:16] make sure her foot is nice and dry
[01:05:20] now for the lotion
[01:05:22] remember
[01:05:23] the lotion can warm in the Basin we can
[01:05:26] warm the lotion on our hands
[01:05:28] the main thing we need to remember is
[01:05:30] not to put lotion between her toes that
[01:05:32] can cause a fungus the lotion goes on
[01:05:35] the top of our foot and the bottom
[01:05:36] warming up in your hands nurses
[01:05:40] like so
[01:05:41] and the bottom we're going to take off
[01:05:44] the excess lotion
[01:05:47] no lotion between her toes
[01:05:51] dry her foot
[01:05:53] well
[01:05:54] now you're going to return her sock

[01:06:57] the blue pad will go in the garbage
[01:07:04] this is your core light
[01:07:06] hand washing required is there anything
[01:07:09] that you need Mrs no thank you all right
[01:07:12] call me if you need me you have to call
[01:07:13] it well that skill is complete
[01:07:26] welcome my name is Nina justiniano I'm
[01:07:30] the director of nursing of Tia Ally
[01:07:34] Health this is Mrs Simon RN nurse
[01:07:37] practitioner and we're going to
[01:07:39] demonstrate one of the 22 skills that's
[01:07:42] that you must Master to complete your
[01:07:44] course and get your CNA license the
[01:07:46] skill we're going to do tonight is
[01:07:49] Oral Care and denture care
[01:07:52] ER man our equipment is as follows
[01:07:56] we need a blue pad to protect our
[01:07:58] clothing we need some gloves a
[01:08:01] toothbrush some toothpaste to clean the
[01:08:03] Dentures a cup of water
[01:08:06] empty cup to spit in this is a toothache
[01:08:10] she doesn't need a toothbrush because
[01:08:12] she has no teeth we're going to make
[01:08:14] sure this is on tight because if she
[01:08:16] swallows this the patient because it's
[01:08:19] an aspiration pneumonia so the first
[01:08:21] thing I'm going to do is I'm going to
[01:08:23] knock on the door introduce myself
[01:08:25] explain to the president what I'm going
[01:08:28] to do moving forward
[01:08:30] come in good afternoon Miss Jones how
[01:08:33] are you I'm well thank you my name is
[01:08:36] Nina I'm a CNA today and I came to give
[01:08:38] you some oral care and clean your
[01:08:40] dentures are you okay with that sure all
[01:08:42] right hand washing required may I please
[01:08:45] check your ID sure okay I'm going to
[01:08:48] make sure that you're in the sitting
[01:08:49] position I'm gonna put your head up just
[01:08:51] slightly
[01:08:53] okay are you okay yes okay I'm going to
[01:08:56] take your dentures to the sink and clean
[01:08:58] your dentures and I'll be back to give
[01:09:00] you some oral care all right okay all
[01:09:02] right
[01:09:09] first thing we need to remember
[01:09:11] to place a paper towel on our sink
[01:09:15] clean surface we're going to place our
[01:09:17] supplies
[01:09:18] toothbrush
[01:09:20] we're going to put a washcloth
[01:09:22] to cover the basin
[01:09:26] teeth
[01:09:27] are slippery
[01:09:30] if they were to slip out your hand and
[01:09:32] hit the sink they will crack so we must
[01:09:34] be mindful of that
[01:09:36] I'm gonna put on our gloves
[01:09:44] oh
[01:09:48] please be advised that this is not the
[01:09:51] appropriate toothbrush for dentures
[01:09:53] Dentures have a special toothbrush this
[01:09:56] toothbrush is for natural teeth if we
[01:09:59] use this toothbrush on dentures it's
[01:10:02] going to scratch the surface of the
[01:10:05] Dentures okay so I suggest that we get a
[01:10:08] dental toothbrush and some dental scrub
[01:10:13] okay so we're going to turn our water on
[01:10:16] we're going to moisten
[01:10:18] our teeth and our brush and we're going
[01:10:21] to start brushing and give up my little
[01:10:23] foam
[01:10:27] toothpaste
[01:10:30] all around
[01:10:32] we're going to rinse it under cool water
[01:10:34] not hot water because we do not want our
[01:10:37] Dentures to walk
[01:10:40] We're Gonna Fill our cup
[01:10:42] with some water make sure it's clean put
[01:10:44] our dentures in and please make sure
[01:10:47] that the dental cup has the resident's
[01:10:50] name and room number
[01:10:55] we're gonna take this out clean up our
[01:10:58] area throw our wash cloth away
[01:11:01] put this up and return our toothbrush
[01:11:04] Mrs where would you like your teeth to
[01:11:07] be kept
[01:11:09] okay no problem
[01:11:12] we will throw this toothbrush in the
[01:11:14] garbage
[01:11:16] I'm gonna cover your gown with it
[01:11:20] blue pad this is called a Chuck or blue
[01:11:22] pad we normally use bibs but we're going
[01:11:24] to use this today
[01:11:27] to make sure our
[01:11:29] now what we need to remember is
[01:11:32] that she has no teeth
[01:11:35] so we don't have to use toothbrush
[01:11:37] all we have to do
[01:11:39] is give her a sip of water
[01:11:54] open your mouth we're going to go around
[01:11:56] her gums top and around and around
[01:12:02] some water
[01:12:06] please spit
[01:12:08] and remember we must do her tongue
[01:12:10] tongue please
[01:12:15] what
[01:12:18] [ __ ] around
[01:12:23] okay how you feeling good all right now
[01:12:26] remember we've cleaned the surface of
[01:12:28] the corners of our mouth with the bib or
[01:12:31] our blue pad
[01:12:33] take this and we throw all our supplies
[01:12:36] that we don't need a way
[01:12:42] she wanted to keep her Dentures at the
[01:12:44] bedside as she can
[01:12:45] all right
[01:12:47] remove our gloves
[01:12:52] hand washing required let me give you
[01:12:54] your core light
[01:13:00] that's your cool light
[01:13:03] foreign
[01:13:06] no thank you so much okay we have
[01:13:09] completed our denture skill
[01:13:12] thank you
[01:13:22] welcome my name is Nina justiniano I'm
[01:13:25] the director of nursing of Tia Allied
[01:13:28] Health this is Mrs Simon RN nurse
[01:13:31] practitioner and we're going to
[01:13:33] demonstrate one of the 22 skills that's
[01:13:35] necessary for you to master to be able
[01:13:37] to pass your state exam and get your
[01:13:39] certification this skill we're going to
[01:13:42] be doing is mouth care
[01:13:45] cameraman
[01:13:47] eye equipment that we need is
[01:13:49] we need a toothbrush
[01:13:51] toothpaste
[01:13:53] two cups one with water one without and
[01:13:57] a pair of gloves this
[01:13:59] is called the emesis basin or kidney
[01:14:01] Basin this can be used for mouth care
[01:14:03] also but it has to be washed out if you
[01:14:06] use this Appliance please remember to
[01:14:09] put a paper towel in it so this way when
[01:14:12] your resident spits in it you can remove
[01:14:14] the paper towel throw it in the garbage
[01:14:16] and it's easier to clean but we're not
[01:14:18] going to use this
[01:14:20] okay now the first thing we need to
[01:14:23] remember is that we need to knock on the
[01:14:25] door
[01:14:27] good morning Mrs Jones how are you I'm

[01:14:57] so now I'm going to cover her clothing
[01:15:00] and protect it with a Chuck we normally
[01:15:03] use bibs but for this video we're going
[01:15:05] to use a Chuck because it's going to
[01:15:08] protect her clothing so we're gonna
[01:15:10] place it
[01:15:12] over her blouse
[01:15:16] so
[01:15:18] a clothing rubbing brush our teeth the
[01:15:21] next thing we're going to do we're going
[01:15:22] to apply our gloves
[01:15:24] you must wear gloves for this skill
[01:15:28] universal precautions
[01:15:35] next thing we're going to do is we're
[01:15:37] going to moisten our toothbrush
[01:15:39] [Music]
[01:15:42] anymore
[01:15:43] in a little water
[01:15:46] and we're going to apply just a dab of
[01:15:49] toothpaste
[01:15:53] now she's going to rinse her mouth and

[01:19:25] she's going to get some gloves and put
[01:19:27] them on
[01:19:29] and the first thing she's going to do if
[01:19:32] she's going to raise the bed up
[01:19:34] very slightly
[01:19:36] to a good working level for her
[01:19:46] next thing she's going to do is she's
[01:19:48] going to get some a blue pad and she's
[01:19:51] going to take the resident patient off
[01:19:54] the wet pad and put a dry pad
[01:20:08] very gently we're going to turn Mrs
[01:20:11] Jones to remove the wet pad
[01:20:22] you okay Mrs Jones are you comfortable
[01:20:25] you must talk to our resident and make
[01:20:27] sure she's comfortable
[01:20:28] so now we have removed
[01:20:31] the wet pad
[01:20:40] and it's replaced with a dry pad
[01:20:43] foreign
[01:20:48] that will go in the garbage
[01:20:51] we're going to return our patient
[01:20:55] to a comfortable position
[01:20:57] the next thing Mrs Simon is going to get
[01:20:59] some water
[01:21:01] some warm water from the sink
[01:21:05] she's going to have the resident check
[01:21:07] the water temperature to see if it's
[01:21:09] comfortable
[01:21:23] put it down
[01:21:25] the next thing Mr Simon is going to
[01:21:27] place her towels on her residence to
[01:21:30] provide
[01:21:31] privacy
[01:21:39] okay now she's going to use the four
[01:21:41] corner technique
[01:21:44] again our four corner technique is up
[01:21:47] we're going to fold our washcloth in
[01:21:49] half
[01:21:50] and again we're going to fold it again
[01:21:52] so we have four corners she's going to
[01:21:54] wet it again with soap no soap and soap
[01:21:59] check to check the water
[01:22:02] okay it's fine
[01:22:04] she's gonna wet her washcloth now
[01:22:14] so
[01:22:17] no soap
[01:22:19] and soap
[01:22:22] what we need to remember is we always go
[01:22:25] from clean to dirty so Mrs summer is
[01:22:27] going to clean her inner labia
[01:22:30] with
[01:22:32] wash down
[01:22:34] and we go rinse down the opposite side
[01:22:37] will be wash
[01:22:39] down and rinse down please ignore the
[01:22:44] catheter for this skill again now she
[01:22:46] must wash her thighs wash rinse wash
[01:22:50] rinse
[01:22:56] wash
[01:23:02] rinse the other thigh
[01:23:04] will be washed
[01:23:07] rinse now we're going to wash our mouths
[01:23:10] pubertus
[01:23:12] with soap no soap and soap
[01:23:20] we always go from clean to dirty we go
[01:23:22] down top to bottom wash
[01:23:28] rinse
[01:23:31] wash
[01:23:34] rinse
[01:23:35] now we're going to pat dry
[01:23:37] she has two towels at her disposal we
[01:23:40] must remember that Mrs Jones have been
[01:23:41] laying in urine so her buttocks needs to
[01:23:44] be washed properly
[01:23:46] again
[01:23:51] we're going to turn Mrs Jones very
[01:23:53] gently
[01:23:58] towards me
[01:24:02] Mrs Simon now is going to wash her
[01:24:04] buttocks wash rinse wash rinse and
[01:24:07] change the pet that she was laying on
[01:24:15] so we go from this way wash
[01:24:21] rinse opposite buttocks
[01:24:24] wash
[01:24:27] rinse we're going to pat dry now
[01:24:35] and leave her on a dry pad this is when
[01:24:37] this the pad is changed
[01:24:50] how you doing Miss Jones Miss Jones it's
[01:24:52] okay
[01:24:54] you return Mr Jones to the center of the
[01:24:56] bed
[01:24:57] and she Mrs Sam is going to walk around
[01:24:59] the bed and remove
[01:25:01] the dry the wet pad
[01:25:17] all towels and Equipment will go in the
[01:25:20] hamper
[01:25:22] with the soil blue pads
[01:25:28] Mrs Simon now is going to empty her
[01:25:31] basin
[01:25:34] so everything in the hamper
[01:25:37] dry her Basin out
[01:25:41] and return it to the drawer
[01:25:57] next
[01:26:01] Mrs Jones now Mrs Simon now is going to
[01:26:04] remove her gloves and say hand wash and
[01:26:06] be quiet
[01:26:08] please pay attention to the removal of
[01:26:10] the gloves
[01:26:18] and our hand washing is required she's
[01:26:21] going to return to the bedside and make
[01:26:23] sure that Mrs Jones has her core light
[01:26:27] we're going to ask Mrs Jones if she's
[01:26:30] comfortable
[01:26:31] we're going to lower the bed because we
[01:26:33] Rose the bed up so we're going to lower
[01:26:35] the head of the we're going to lower our
[01:26:37] bed to the lowest possible position
[01:26:44] she'll raise her head up just slightly
[01:26:46] because our resident will breathe better
[01:26:48] but her head just raised slightly
[01:26:50] go raise your hands slightly is this is

[01:32:09] practitioner we're going to demonstrate
[01:32:10] the partial bed bath which is one of the
[01:32:13] 22 skills necessary for you to patch
[01:32:15] your CNA license
[01:32:17] we're using the clinical
[01:32:19] skillless Tech checklist
[01:32:22] we're going to follow this very closely
[01:32:24] because this is the requirement for the
[01:32:26] state okay now some of the supplies that

[01:33:18] she checked the patient's ID
[01:33:20] all right John Mrs John now she's going
[01:33:23] to get so she's going to lock the bed to
[01:33:26] provide safety
[01:33:28] and pull her curtain to provide privacy
[01:33:31] which is required in all our health
[01:33:33] institutions hospitals and nursing homes
[01:33:36] have privacy curtains so we must provide
[01:33:38] privacy no gloves no gloves is required
[01:33:41] for this skill
[01:33:56] thank you
[01:33:58] for this skill we're using the four
[01:34:01] corner technique this is your washcloth
[01:34:03] we're going to fold it in half and then
[01:34:05] we're going to fold it in half again
[01:34:07] which is going to provide us with four
[01:34:09] surfaces to be able to give our
[01:34:12] residents the partial bed bath first
[01:34:15] thing it's done is she's going to wash
[01:34:16] the resident's face
[01:34:20] there's no soap
[01:34:23] on the face
[01:34:24] she checked it
[01:34:28] checking the water for temperature it's
[01:34:30] fine
[01:34:34] next
[01:34:35] she's going to provide a nice towel
[01:34:37] underneath her head
[01:34:42] I'll place a towel there for you
[01:34:50] cleansing the Eyes by using a soap free
[01:34:53] wash cloth wiping the eyes from inside
[01:34:56] the corner to the outside corner
[01:34:59] no soap
[01:35:00] wash
[01:35:04] and rinse
[01:35:07] she's going to walk around the bed
[01:35:10] and do the other eye
[01:35:12] which is wash and rinse
[01:35:18] she has changed to a clean area of the
[01:35:20] washcloth wash
[01:35:22] and rinse
[01:35:25] now she's going to pat dry
[01:35:35] and back again now
[01:35:38] with the four corner techniques
[01:35:42] she's going to remove the gown
[01:35:45] from one arm
[01:36:03] remember for the state boards we only
[01:36:05] washing one arm because the state
[01:36:08] examiner is checking for technique
[01:36:13] yeah she's removing the towel
[01:36:15] and she's going to place that towel
[01:36:17] across the patient residence chest to
[01:36:21] provide prophecy
[01:36:31] now if I washcloth
[01:36:33] you're going to do soap no soap and soap
[01:36:46] so
[01:36:49] no soap
[01:36:50] and soap
[01:36:53] no soap
[01:36:54] now she's gonna go under her towel
[01:36:58] and go wash
[01:37:01] the top of the hand
[01:37:03] perfect now rinse
[01:37:08] once more time again wash
[01:37:13] under
[01:37:16] and rinse
[01:37:19] under we're gonna pat dry
[01:37:34] we're going to assist the resident we're
[01:37:36] turning to the side
[01:37:40] I'm going to be her side bro
[01:37:43] come over Mrs Jones very gently we're
[01:37:46] going to turn our residents and make
[01:37:48] sure that they remain covered at all
[01:37:51] times
[01:37:54] she's checking out her base in the water
[01:37:57] to make sure the water is not cold or
[01:37:59] too soapy the state examiner will check
[01:38:02] the temperature of the water
[01:38:04] again for a corner technique
[01:38:07] soap
[01:38:10] no soap
[01:38:13] and soap
[01:38:16] Mrs Simon now is going to wash her back
[01:38:20] wash
[01:38:24] rinse
[01:38:27] wash
[01:38:30] rinse
[01:38:32] now it's time for the back rub
[01:38:37] pack dry
[01:38:41] remember we need to put lotion for our
[01:38:44] back rub so Mrs Simon is going to warm
[01:38:46] the lotion in her hand
[01:39:00] in a swimming position she's going to go
[01:39:02] three times up one
[01:39:06] to
[01:39:08] three
[01:39:10] she's going to take the excess lotion
[01:39:12] with the towel off the residence back
[01:39:17] we're going to return the resident to
[01:39:20] her position
[01:39:22] which is prone
[01:39:26] okay and we're going to change the the
[01:39:29] Gown to a clean gown
[01:39:34] keeping the resident covered at all
[01:39:36] times
[01:40:00] she's placing a clean gown on the
[01:40:03] resident and she's keeping her covered
[01:40:04] at all times all use towels and
[01:40:07] Equipment will be placed in the dirty
[01:40:10] hamper
[01:40:17] yep Ty she's going to tie the gown
[01:40:35] okay
[01:40:36] so that's going in a dirty hand put any
[01:40:38] towels
[01:40:40] we'll go in the dirty hamper
[01:40:45] she's going to make sure that our
[01:40:47] patient resident has her core light
[01:40:51] we're going to return the bed to the
[01:40:53] lowest position this is okay like
[01:40:57] put the bed down
[01:41:07] we're going to ask our president patient
[01:41:09] about any preferences where she wants
[01:41:11] her curtain open or remain closed
[01:41:16] we're going to use standard precaution
[01:41:18] and infectious control measures when
[01:41:19] providing care we ask the resident about
[01:41:22] any comfort we promote the president's
[01:41:24] rights doing the care and we promote the
[01:41:27] resident safety doing care
[01:41:29] she's not going to return all her
[01:41:31] equipment back to the bedside stand
[01:41:40] okay
[01:41:47] dry in the basin
[01:42:03] there's a nightstand everything goes
[01:42:06] back where it belongs
[01:42:14] at the end of the skill she will say
[01:42:17] hand washing required
[01:42:21] cleaning off our table
[01:42:23] putting everything back
[01:42:34] things will go in the trash
[01:42:37] she would say hand washing required and
[01:42:40] this is the end of the skill thank you
[01:42:51] welcome my name is Nina justiniano I'm
[01:42:55] the director of nursing of Tia Allied
[01:42:57] Health and for this video we're going to
[01:42:59] be doing three separate skills from this
[01:43:03] clinical checklist sheet made by
[01:43:05] Prometric
[01:43:07] right these are three exercises we're
[01:43:09] going to exercise the shoulder the elbow
[01:43:12] and the lower extremity for this skill
[01:43:15] please be advised that when the
[01:43:17] Prometric examiner tells you the left
[01:43:20] you must it's the patience left not your
[01:43:24] left I'm going to start the skill with
[01:43:26] Mrs Simon
[01:43:29] RN nurse practitioner
[01:43:32] so I'm gonna knock on the door
[01:43:35] come in good morning Mrs Jones how are
[01:43:38] you my name is Nina and I'm just CNA
[01:43:40] today and I came to give you a little
[01:43:42] exercise into your left shoulder are you
[01:43:45] okay with that yes all right let me wash
[01:43:48] my hands I'll be right back hand washing
[01:43:50] required I'm going to lock the bed and
[01:43:54] I'm going to provide privacy please be
[01:43:56] advised for the state boards you must
[01:43:58] touch the Privacy curtain can I see your
[01:44:02] ID this is her ID she's Mrs Jones okay
[01:44:05] I'm going to exercise your arm this is
[01:44:08] called passive range of motion when it's
[01:44:12] passive range of motion we do the
[01:44:14] exercise for the patient or the resident
[01:44:17] when it's range of motion we direct the
[01:44:19] resident to do the skill but for this
[01:44:22] skill I'm going to do the X
[01:44:24] first we start with the shoulder we're
[01:44:26] gonna
[01:44:26] report our elbow and we're going to do
[01:44:28] repetitions of three which is
[01:44:32] one
[01:44:35] how you feeling Mrs Jones oh great
[01:44:39] two
[01:44:41] are you comfortable Mrs Jones yes any
[01:44:43] pain no okay three
[01:44:47] I flex now I'm going to abduct her
[01:44:49] shoulder
[01:44:50] one I'm supporting her elbow
[01:44:54] to
[01:44:57] three
[01:44:59] how are you doing are you okay yes that
[01:45:02] is the end of that skill for the
[01:45:04] shoulder the next skill I'm going to
[01:45:06] demonstrate is range of motion to the
[01:45:09] elbow and that skill again we must do
[01:45:13] our introduction knock on the door
[01:45:15] introduce ourselves hand washing
[01:45:19] required we're going to lock the bed and
[01:45:21] we're going to provide privacy and we're
[01:45:23] going to check the ID and get the
[01:45:25] patient's permission all right so for
[01:45:27] this skill I'm going to exercise the
[01:45:28] elbow here we go one
[01:45:32] you okay Mrs Jones yes
[01:45:34] two
[01:45:37] you're fine yes three now we must do her
[01:45:41] wrist support our wrists one
